The traffic light nutrition info on the front can be a bit misleading. In fish there are oils and fats that are beneficial to health, and these can prevent disease and illness, so 22% might sound high but it's not as bad as it may first seem.
I get Harry ramston's mushy peas ,in a tin for about 75p a tin . It does look good , but I got some fish cakes from heron foods, for about £2-50p . Fish cakes with mushypea filing .having them for dinner to night .Take care and all the best. 😊😊
They look really nice but they have been blessed with the usual M & s pricing policy, £2.25 per fish cake seems steep to me. 10/10 for the fishcakes 5/10 for the pricing, should be more like £3 for 2.

Tinned mushy peas are an insult to mushy peas, even a lot of chip shops are fobbing people off with them, so a lot of people have no idea what proper mushy peas are. If you have to resort to tinned peas go for the marrow fat because they mush naturally. But get the boxes of peas you have to soak. Slow cookers are great for mushy peas and less mess. By the way add sugar and salt once cooked.

M&S do some lovely dishes but I wish they would realise that the country is in economic crisis and people are struggling to feed their family especially those with children. It is always so expensive! That is why Aldi are doing so well I think...... a lot of their 'extra special' range is really good and I think just as good as M&S. Glad you enjoyed them though... hope your jaw is healing x
I suppose there's still a place in the market for high quality food, and obviously it'll be priced accordingly. If you go to London you'll find food shops which make M&S look like a discount supermarket. The fact we have the choice is good.
But M&S isn't catering for shoppers on a budget. That's what Aldi and Lidl are for. M&S couldn't give a fig if those on their uppers can't afford M&S prices. Back in the early 2000s when I was living ultra frugally before my pension started, I did go very occasionally to the M&S food hall as a special treat, but I knew that one purchase a week (an egg and prawn sub) was expensive.

If you like smoked haddock, buy a packet of two fillets from Aldi or Lidl. The same price in both stores, £3.59 for 230g. I always cook one fillet for breakfast and I do it in the microwave. The thing about smoked haddock is that it is very time critical. Just a few seconds too long and it's overdone. However, if it is underdone, you can put it back in for 5 seconds. In my 700W microwave a 130g fillet takes approximately 80 seconds. Increase time for larger fillets. If your microwave oven is rated at 800W I would cook it for 60 seconds, then maybe a bit more if it's not yet done. You can tell whether it's done by gently lifting some of the fish with a knife to see if the flakes are separating. Before cooking I lightly sprinkle the fish with dried dill and put a small knob of butter on top. I always cover the plate with a microwave plastic dome to keep in the steam.

I’ve tried the M&S mushy peas & found them to be too salty. I prefer Harry Ramsdens’ mushy peas from Iceland. I find that when M&S do “The Best" versions of their products they are not always better than the standard versions.
My daughter loves them with crispy pots as well. They have good bargains as well. My marks is not massive so I like to visit a big one if I travel more variety. Chew slowly. ❤
We had a fantastic M&S foodhall, for some weird reason, i think it was due to rent, they closed the foodhall, but the good/bad news is they are reopening next yr on another retail park, the bad news, the nearest M&S is in town, and with all towns there is a car parking issue.
With the peas you could have a number of things such as a tiny bit of butter or buttery flavoured margarine and a twist of black pepper or even tiny little of mint sauce , I am thinking minted peas
Those fish cakes look really good, I haven’t had them from Marks but I will try them. I usually get them from Lidl. The Chip Shop Mushy peas from Marks are far cheaper that most chip shops, I have known them charge over £2 for a similer pot. Aldi,s mushy peas are less than 40p. We make our own mushy peas but have been known to open a can if we have none in the freezer. We put a spot of sugar in our home made mushy peas and serve with salt and vinegar. We have mushy peas with our Christmas day lunch, its a family thing that goes back a long way. I always thought it was a Northern thing but have moved to the South West I don’t know of any one else that does. Keep eating the soft foods and hope you are soon 100%
looks Really good . Yah chips and Butter Bread are required also Tarter Sauce and Ketchup . Mushy Peas in the Can are probably the Same as those in the fancy plastic Can.

Making me hungry now Gareth. Good review. Sainsbury's used to do something similar but haven't bought any of theirs for a while now and we've no M&S here so I can't do a comparison.. Perhaps you could sometime. Look after that jaw and take care.
Hope you are well my friend , your looking much better
Yes, thank you
Oh they look very tasty 😋
We had a fantastic M&S foodhall, for some weird reason, i think it was due to rent, they closed the foodhall, but the good/bad news is they are reopening next yr on another retail park, the bad news, the nearest M&S is in town, and with all towns there is a car parking issue.
love those from M&S Amazing mate keep up the no drink fight im 8mts clear now best of luck
They look bang on,good to see u getting back to health
Cheers Steven
Good to have you back pal, doing what u do best...onwards upwards
They look great
They are banging. We have them regularly with a cheesy mash and petis pois
M&S food is expensive but man it's sooooo good!
Good afternoon m8 yes it looks yummy yummy m8
Loved that beautiful brown colour, though.😊
Great review Gaz as always just down to the prices yet again but looked nice and good that you’re repairing slowly and look after yourself 👍👍
Cheers Peter
I'm off to get a packet of those tomorrow now! 😂
With the peas you could have a number of things such as a tiny bit of butter or buttery flavoured margarine and a twist of black pepper or even tiny little of mint sauce , I am thinking minted peas
i have these and i give them a light spray of oil before in the air fryer . the cod ones are more fishy taste and i like these in buttered bread lol
they look truly delicious. wish we could get some of these items here . take care pat in new jersey
Cheers Pat
Good to see you reviewing more solid food.
Hang in there Foodie!
Thanks! Will do!
Can get similar in Lidl for just over £2 but M &S probably tastes better but worth a try. £4.50 is a bit steep.
Cheers James yes okay needed more fish but tasty.
they look nice
looks Really good . Yah chips and Butter Bread are required also Tarter Sauce and Ketchup . Mushy Peas in the Can are probably the Same as those in the fancy plastic Can.
Cheers John
