  • In this second instalment of the Flats Series, I take you through the spin fishing tackle and gear I carry with me for a day chasing bonefish on the flats. Items covered include rods, benefits of travel rods, spinning reels and preferred sizes, braid, leader, the fligs and a backpack to carry it all.
All gear and equipment used has been purchased or manufactured (fligs) by myself, and as such, this review represents my personal thoughts only.
Thanks for watching and feel free to leave a comment/review.

Great vids John, do you know if bone fish can be found around the sand flats of Stradbroke and Moreton islands SE QLD?

Cheers for the feedback. I've heard snippets about Qld bones but unfortunately, not much about a reliable fishery for them.

Great Video Thanks...Question... for the braided line do you think it matters with hi-vis ? I have 15lb moss green but can purchase hi vis if need be. Going to use these tactics in upcoming trip to Anguilla. Thanks

G’Day Fred, cheers for the feedback. Braid colour won’t make much difference as long as you use a nice long fluorocarbon leader. Green wasn’t preferred by the guides as it can blend in if your fishing near mangroves, making it a bit harder to see.
