I'm so glad you're back to posting Michael, I feared you'd stopped. I plough through each day, and your art has made me pick up the brush again and really helps with the pain. I study every stroke and lost count on how many times I've watched each video. The new angle letting us watch you on the pallet, is a great addition. As usual, another gorgeous painting. I wish I could afford to use as much paint as you do, and the brush sizes you use. I really do, it's a style I love, and because I can't afford it, I have to try to simulate it the best I can with minimal materials. I hate that. Just love your work.
If this painting was hanging on my wall, I wouldn't do anything all day but look at it and marvel at it's beauty!

Hello! I've been watching a lot of your videos for techniques and have been mesmerized by them..You create very wonderful things.. From a previous question, is the medium "wash" that you referred to an "acrylic glaze" of some sort? I wanted to get the transparency similar to what you have in your painting without making the painting too glossy.. But will a matte medium fluid provide enough transparency?
Michael I love your work and am one of many followers. I recommend you to everyone in my arts circles. I have a few questions for you what make are your brushes, they seem really durable. When you begin a painting you have chosen your colours and are ready to go , do you have an image in your head or have you sketch you have made prior to painting? Do you live in Canada? Aside from using acrylics,...are you using any other type of mediums or a retarder with them...or are you beginning on a wet canvas?...just curious as to how you get such a well blended look, are you working wet in wet? And I've been following your work for awhile. I have to say I think you're a brilliant artist Michael. I've been painting again for a few years after a bit of a hiatus. I've begun tackling abstract nebulae and cosmic pieces & love the freedom of it.

I have no idea if this has already been asked but what do you use on the canvas before you start painting? Also, do you use just every day acrylic paint or do you have a specific brand that you prefer to use? Thank you and the painting is beautiful! I wish I had the skill that you possess!!!

Hi Michael, I haven't painted for a long time but I am very inspired by your work. I love this style, it reminds me of " The Prisoner of Light " by Roberto Matta, one of my favourite paintings :-) I love using acrylics for their vibrate colours but mine don't flow as well as yours! May I ask which type you use please or whether you use a flow enhancer ? Also how long did this painting take you to complete ?

I have Everything I need to copy your fantastic painting in front of me, but I think I have painters block as I don't understand why when you layer a color on top of another one yours don't change colors ....Maybe I'm missing something.....

Really like your work. I notice you never seem to rinse brushes in water. Doesn't the acrylic and media get tacky and drag after a while or do you just swap out brushes

I attempted an abstract today... my colors where not bright seem all blend in to a mottle gray..... what do u use to break down the paint to thin it. I used water and that's my problem.. but love your work and ordered your cd's
Theresa Still I use a medium to blend and mix. That color your speaking of comes from mixing to many colors at one time, the term is mud.Don't use water, use medium you will get much better results.Enjoy
Hi Michael, I read below that you used a medium mixed with the colours for the wash effect. Also that the white stuff is a medium. It's not titanium white? What kind of medium are you using, a fluid medium? Thanks!
I love the way you are painting! I have one question; do you have a wet orr a dry canvas?
This painting I applied a random layer of medium on the canvas before applying paint, Glad you like!

Glad you like! I just wipe a little medium on the canvas to reduce the drag of the brush, it really makes blending nice!
What do you use on your canvas to make your acrylics move so well? Do you only have one video for sale?

Love this painting, have watch it many times and will eventually take the plunge and paint.....What I really need to know is does one let the paint dry before putting other colors on top??????? Thank you Maddie.

+maddie young Im keen to know this too. I suspect in alot of areas he lets it dry, if not all but still nice to know for sure isnt it. x
I do let the underpainting dry so the washes work. If you mix them wet you dont get the same affect. Enjoy!
