It's more than just a Mii costume for them which is why they truly appreciate it regardless of it being a costume.

We were expecting a new series, not just a new game.
I just realized that the Mushroomy Kingdom segment of Cuphead costume showcase is a reference to the run-and-gun segments.
Edit: Oh! The blue villager is supposed to be Mugman, Cuphead's brother.
There was even a green Charizard which was a reference to Grim Matchstick.

I think things like this is what makes the Mii Costume presentations some of my favorites; they use Smash assets to convey things from their home game, so fans of the series can see the effort they put into them.

My theory is that the Smash team and Sakurai himself seem to know exactly which characters are going to receive high praise and which ones aren't, and the ones that aren't (such as Terry or Byleth), get crazy Mii costume reveals like Sans or Cuphead to balance out and add at least SOME hype.
To be fair to Terry, he has some really good hype. Byleth wasn't as lucky.
@@mitchelanhalt5261 The FGC crowd is surprisingly large, so yeah, Terry did have at least some hype going into his release. Byleth, however, yeah... poor Byleth. If only Fire Emblem was half as popular here as it is in Japan.

Personally I'm glad we got Byleth overwith. They were such an obvious inclusion, I was surprised Nintendo actually made him do it after four straight third party picks. Honestly as I've seen elsewhere, it's better that they're in the first pack, cause if we had to wait an unknown amount of time for the first character of the second and it was Byleth, the reaction would be so much worse.
And yeah, I get that half the time FE inclusions are advertising, and to that I say so? The entire series is doing that, so what if FE actually gets to time its releases for that?

I’m honestly kinda upset that they had to put Cuphead with Byleth, it took away from a character people were already angry about in the first place. Everyone cared more about Cuphead then the actual fighter just like Terry and Sans. They should have put Cuphead or Sans with the fighters pass Vol 2 instead of the breath of the wild costume. So many people would instantly buy the second fighters pass.

@@TonyJenn I wouldn't pay that much attention. I thought Terry was an awesome inclusion, but really only people familiar with traditional fighting games were at least interested in him. Those who don't really play traditional fighting games were all neutral/confused at best. It's going to be different from person to person lol

I legit could make a game of trying to guess, based on the reactions alone, how many of the people featured on here have actually played Cuphead...and then a second game guessing as to how many of those who played had the fortitude to at least get to Carnation...maybe twenty percent? On the first viewing, I counted four obvious ones.
