It's Saturday morning, you're 13 years old riding your bmx, it's spring time and you got the whole weekend ahead of you. That's what that sound is to me. Love it!❤
That's funny. I'm currently playing this video to the 3 Maggies that visit me multiple times daily. If I am inside, they will sing a certain tune and I know they are waiting outside for me! I love these birds.
@@JonnyContagious I think all he means is that there's nothing like the Aussie magpie where he lives, no need to get serious... and we have robins and blackbirds and yes their songs are good, but there's something so unique about this call
What a beautiful and unique song. It has a bit of rusty hinge character, but the melody is nice! And their intelligence just shines through their eyes and behavior.
I love the song of Magpies. They are the quintessential Aussie larrikin of birds. Not only do they have beautiful sounds they are incredible smart and can learn quickly and have excellent memories. They are my favourite of all birds.
I have befriended a handfull that come to my place daily. One in particular is more comfortable and comes right up to me when im going to give it food. Such a nice feeling.
We have a wonderful Magpie family that arrives in the backyard daily. Daddy, Haggy, Bella & the Little Girl. They know us as we know them. They have become part of the family tbh. So very intelligent these birds. 🦅🦅🦅 love Aussie 🇦🇺 Maggies.
I swear these Magpies are getting more and more human! Wished you were here today Peter. Three Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos hung in this tree just behind my house. They stuck around for about 30 mins! Didn’t realize how big they are up close. Thanks for sharing the video mate cheers 🍻 👍🙏
I have a magpie family that sometimes visits, I always help them forage for bugs as I know exactly where all the big juicy bugs are going to be, then I let them eat it out of my hand. They make what sounds like a happy call which I only ever hear when I'm feeding them
I love Maggies and their amazing choral abilities. I think the Magpies in the south have a lot more white on their back than the ones up here. Thanks for sharing Peter. All the best, Brian.
I have a little trick I do at my local shopping centre carpark with a couple of wild magpies. They fly in when they spot my car 🚙. I generally feed them a snack but before I do I ask for a song and generally get one as in 🎶 🎵 etc. Occasionally they are in a grumpy mood, so I ask again for a song and most times they oblige. But if they don’t sing I ask them if they got out the wrong side of the tree this morning? All this gets a smile or a laugh from whatever audience is watching at that time of day.
It always amazes me when i watch an Australian magpie forage for food. They'll be slowing walking over a patch of grass, suddenly stop, look at the ground then peck. Out comes a beetle or a grub. Apparently they can sense subterranean insects moving around by their vibrations. People often feed them by giving them mince which is not good for them because its low in calcium. They obtain their calcium from the exoskeletons of insects
Hi Tony. Yes, the way they forage is fascinating and I have observed the same and also love when they keep tapping the ground with their feet then turn their head sideways then just launch their beak at those subterranean insects. Cheers
Nothing like the chorus of the Australian Magpie, I have a pair here but they suffer constant harassment form the obnoxious Magpie Lark (aka Pee Wee). Lovely video.
@@peterviragphoto Happy I found the video. I’ve been looking for magpie calls to use as audio patched into a synthesizer, and this is the best video out there. There’s something very special about magpies. Thanks for posting.
