Great video! Thanks for sharing these amazing birds! New subscriber here✨
Thx heaps! Glad you enjoyed!
In the U.K our magpies sound like machine guns. It’s a horrible noise. When I was in New Zealand, I would hear these birds and wonder what they were. I used to hear them on Neighbours so I called them ‘neighbours birds’
Haha awesome! Yes, the eurasian magpies are a totally different species !
Oooowee out these pics in a video so I can screenshot them and make them my screen background
Luminar Neo should have an update where we can see all the pictures we're editing on the side just like Capture One. Where we can scroll to check/select any pictures.
It’s a good idea! I’ll mention it to them! Also you can send them some feedback, they always take it into consideration for future updates. Cheeers
@@peterviragphoto I dont know where to write, I really want that bad so I kind of write this comment on every video I watch about Luminar Neo so they can probably see it.
skylum.com/support/contact leave feedback/suggestion here. cheers!:)
@@peterviragphoto Thnk you.
There are so many amazing and wonderful things to see in the natural world. It really does deserve to be protected but, and it's a big but, I don't think that necessarily requires people to be locked out of areas. Sadly that seems to be the default position of park managers. Anyway, I'll step down from my soap box. Great video Peter, keep up the good work. All the best.
Thanks a lot Brian and I totally agree with your sentiment. As long as people are aware and thoughtful in terms of protecting the environment, they should be able to access some of those areas! Cheers
The ant seeing the jumping spider must have been Terrified

🤣🤣
Fantastic abstract macro shots, Peter. The urchin at the end was fantastic along with the shell images just before it but I really like the textures of the seaweed at 6:19 and those sea grapes. A fantastic project. You might have to be inspired me to try something similar when I'm on holiday in Cornwall soon.
Thanks a lot Andrew, very kind of you! I think you’d have a blast! Cheers:-)
These macros should be so cool on a large canvas!
👍👍
Interesting textures !! Beautiful colors too! ❤
Cheers:)
Szia Péter! Most tervezek új vázat venni és a véleményedet/segítségedet szeretném kérni. Válaszodat előre is köszönöm! 😊
Szia Tibor. Szep hetveget:)!
@@peterviragphoto Nagyon szépen köszönöm a gyors választ! Akkor eldőlt 😊
Hi I currently have a golden jumping spider and i can't identify it. From what I've found online it seems to be a kind of *BOLD JUMPING SPIDER* and I've searched everywhere on internet and can't find a gold colored spider like the one i have. If you know anyone who can identify it then please provide their info. Thank you.
Hey Cat. I’d post it on a facebook page where people can help you ID the specific species. Cheers
Thanks for the advice@@peterviragphoto I'll try it.
What a beautiful location mate - love some of these shots - the shell at 8:24 is my favourite - so beautiful in macro!! Have a great weekend Peter 👍👍
Thanks heaps Dave, much appreciated! Hope you guys have been well!

Hi Peter, I'm making a short film for school and would like to know if I can use this video in my film. It is for year 12 so that's why I have to ask for permission and your name will be in the credits. Thanks, Emma.
Hi Emma. Thanks for reaching out! Feel free to use it & thanks for crediting. Hope your film project goes well:)
@@peterviragphoto Amazing thank you so much!
Hello Peter. Thanks a lot for your videos about macro with telephoto lenses. I have the same canon tele lens and NiSi seems a nice option to get me closer. I understand that with NiSi Ican shorten the minimum distance from 1 meter to 30 cm. But I dont understand if 30 cm is fixed or not. I mean, if conditions needs me 50 cm ( > 30 cm) from the subject, is it possible with NiSi mounted on the telelens, right? Thanks a lot, Antonin
Hey Antonin. Thanks a lot! If you reduce focal length of the 400mm I think you should be able to increase WD, but I haven’t used that combo for a while. Cheers
Loved this video. I’d suggest for your stills, indicating which shots were taken with the Raynox Macro. Hard to keep up with. I have the Canon 100 Macro and am considering the Raynox.
👍🙌
Did you use a external mic Peter ? or the R7 internal ? 🍻
External , Rode Video Mic Pro+. Cheers
So would you recommend using a focus rail in the field instead of studio for bug close up/extreme close up macro photography?
Hey. If the subject is stationery then it can work for sure but I prefer shooting hand-held when in the field and use the rail primarily in the studio. Cheers
Sounds like a rusty gate.
😜
Is that okay also for sports photography?
Yes, definitely!
I had a few questions? Are you experiencing that focus shift issues that many others have been having with the r7 and my second question; were you able to use the mechanical shutter with the EF 100-400 USM ii and how many fps were you able to get?
Haven’t experienced focus shifting much at all. With the mechanical shutter around 13-15 on average.
@@peterviragphoto Thanks so much for your reply. I’ve seen others speaking about out of focus shots and some claiming the mechanical shutter was not working with it at all. Perhaps some sort of setting issue or maybe it’s just that some cameras have the issue. I think perhaps I’ll rent one first before deciding. Thanks again Peter.
Yes, I think that would be a wise choice! Good luck:)
@@peterviragphoto thanks.

I used to get off at Chelsea station and walk on the beach all the way to Frankston. I miss those transparent curved shaped jelly pods scattered throughout the sand! Such an amazing beachfront we have nothing like this in Canada. Australia is natural paradise minus all snakes and spiders!

It should work for sure!
Thank you for the test. Which one would you recommend for field recording? The new h1essential or this one?
Hi there. They are virtually the same but the h1 essential has some minor upgrades. I haven’t tested that one yet but I’d get the new one if I were you. Cheers
@@peterviragphoto Thank you for the advice. I'll do as recommended.
Is it a smaller spider, or is it a molt... *do* spiders molt? O.o
It’s a crab spider and you can see the moulted exoskeleton at the top, still partially attached.
Too bad this lens is only manual focusing. Will stick with my 1:1 Nikon Z 105mm mc macro on my Z9 which is tack sharp. When a company comes out with a 2:1 macro lens with AF like Olympus recently did with their OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm f/3.5 Macro, I will be all over it.
👍👍

Very nice, glad to have found your channel! I will check through your past videos - but in case I cannot find, do you have any info on your diffuser set up? Is it all DIY - looks like a great set up!
Hey buddy. Thanks a lot! Unfortunately the business that used to make this kit shut down so can’t send you a link. Maybe have a look Cygnustech or AK Diffuser , they are both pretty good based on reviews. Cheers
@@peterviragphoto Ah thanks so much for taking the time to respond! I have been on the fence with those hoping for a simpler DIY since I have so many lens and flash combos - but thats probably the best way to go at this point. Cheers - I learned so much from more of your videos today BTW - your video about the speed of the flash relative to the power causing ghosting was so helpful!
Hey mate. Thanks a lot for your feedback, much appreciated! Have a great week & good luck with whichever kit you're gonna go for. I think you'll like the results:)
looks super narrow, is their wider feet you cam get for this? Pretty sure my camera would tip it over.
Hey there. I’ve used it with a behemoth like the 1 DX II as well and it’s fine but I would not use it as a tabletop device, just when it’s attached to a tripod. Cheers

These birds alone make me want to hop back on a 16-hour long Qantas flight over the Pacific! These birds are national tressure more precious than roos!
Thanks a lot for watching & I agree😀👍🐦🐦🐦
I have pond fish which I don't even need to feed. They live off whatever is in the pond. They make me angry though, because whenever I go out to sit on the bench and watch them., they go into hiding for the whole time I'm there.
Haha anger inducing fish😃 You need to bond with them!😁
If there are any predators around, their hiding might be why your pond still has fish at all! If you want to see more of them, try sitting by them more regularly so they can get used to the idea that you don't mean them any harm. If you're impatient, you can try feeding them treats whenever you visit, and they will show up just to see what you have for them. It doesn't even have to cost any money, if the pond being a maintenance-cost free sort of thing is one of it's great appeals... People often come to think of any animal in their care, fish included, as needing to purchase specialized foods and treats that are marketed specifically for that purpose, but I promise you someone, somewhere, made that item into the thing you would get for money at a store. Even if it was just grinding something up and drying or freezing it. So a little research can buy you a lot of home made treats if you're more interested in spending time than money on making friends fast! 😊
@@peccant I did know this, thanks. It's hard to sit with them often when you have a job, the weather is often poor, or you simply have too much else to do. And it isn't maintenance free, as the filters need cleaning once in a while.
@@ArcanePath360 that's very true. I know the feeling!!!
