The mom's POV of him floating in the sky and looking down on her is so chilling; she was Brandon's only and last hope for him to become good, and her falling down to her death and looking up at her fully-fledged evil son shows that there's no more hope for Brandon and in turn, no hope for the world. With the stars all around him, she saw that this world now belonged to Brightburn.

I like this ending, it raises the question.. if the Mother character didn’t try to kill him could he be redeemed.. and if he was, what would the future hold, since he would be wanted for all the killings.
This is a very underrated movie.
I think his mother should have realized that she couldn't hurt him after all the other stuff that happened. Her best chance was to persuade him to stop. He would never have been a "good guy," but she might have been able to talk him into choosing a more remote life which would be more peaceful, or convince him of a logical reason he would be better off leaving the world at large undisturbed. She could have mitigated the damage.
@@elhonnads7165 but she could hurt him and tried to with the fragment of material from his space craft.. but this was the unhappy ending movie where he sensed she was trying to kill him rather than the usual happy ending movie where she would succeed in killing him.
Also I don’t think trying to guide him would have worked.. both the parents struggled to control him as he was becoming a teenager.. so you would think his urge to become great/feared would only become stronger as he became a man and his desires to do as he pleased would also become stronger.. I think trying to guide him would still result in him conquering the world and ruling us like bugs.. it would just take a few months or years longer.

Doesn’t anyone notice that all the deaths he does has some kind of meaning. Like when his dad shot him in the back of the head, he lasered him from his eyes to the back of his skull exactly where the dad aimed at Brandon. When the uncle yelled at him for being in their house and said he would tell his parents, Brandon took the car lifted it up and hit his mouth on the wheel, so he wouldn’t be able to tell and to punish him for screaming at him, and when the girl he liked decided not to put her hands out in the game for teamwork and he fell, she then claimed him to be a pervert because he was caught in her house stalking her one night, so he broke her hand for doing so considering he didn’t help push him to the other person with her hands. This last scene as well when the mom held the space thing high up above Brandon, and Brandon caught her took her into the sky hugh up like were the weapon was placed in his moms hands let go of her and killed her. Everyone who sees this movie suddenly understands Batman and Lex Luthor a whole lot more
Jesudason Films ok Batman I get but what does Luther have to justify his actions
CartoonGoddess626 I’m not justifying what he does. There’s an obvious difference between Batman and Lex Luthor. Batman only prepares for Superman turning evil, but doesn’t act against him unless it happens. Lex however just constantly tries to kill Superman regardless, which makes him a villain. And Lex also doesn’t care who gets hurt along the way, also solidifying his villain status. But Lex is still only doing all of that because he thinks that Superman is too powerful and is a danger to the world
Jesudason Films agreed, and I have a simply reason why
Jor El (That’s superman’s dad for those who are unaware) literary said, that his son would be as a God to the people of Earth, in the new Superman movie, and that is 100% accurate. He has hearing that is so powerful, he can tell what’s happening on the other side of the world, is completely impervious to conventional damage, can fly, fire heat beams from his eyes, which can also use X-Ray mode, mean NOTHING can be hidden from his sight, and is arguably one of the fastest superhero’s in the DC comics
Superman is so powerful, that the writers either have to NERF him incredibly badly, pit him against an opponent whose as ridiculously as strong as he is, failing that, pit him against an opponent whose way smarter than him and isn’t afraid to play dirty... OR a combination of the three, just to prevent him from one shooting any opponent he goes up against
If it wasn’t for how Superman was brought up, he literally would have just gone
“I’am your god now, bow before me mortals and despair.”
Commander Critic That’s kinda the plot of Superman Red Sun, he is raised in the USSR and becomes Stalin’s right hand man and eventually surpasses him. Meanwhile, Lex is the President of the United States without Superman to stop his election.

@@antisocialmsft8088 not my president
Killing him would not be "murder" in any sense of the word.
I wonder if the psychic abilities of the ship + those of his people were messing with his head. Reprogramming him to be like how they are and conquering the planet solo takes being a massive terror to accomplish.
His dad shot him while his back was turned, a person he trusted and who's authority he respected. When he embraced his mother, that was the last person he ever expected to stab him in the back but he was still ready for it because of a past experience. He didn't wanna do it but once she did that, there wasn't a soul left on Earth that he could ever trust again.
I'm not justifying his actions in any way but the world pushed him over the edge, did the world really expect not to face any sort of consequences? Some people just snap after being tested too many times, especially those people with power.
Those people also have a choice, and Even before his ship brainwashed him, It's never specified whether or not it literally programmed him too or if he misinterpreted what it was trying to tell him and thought it was an okay to go evil, and never specified whether or not Brandon chose to do every evil thing or was just brainwashed into it
I'm still waiting on a Dredd sequel, so you all get in line.

But in all other realms that I can think of, his mom didn't deserve to die, Brandon did. Despite being raised pretty well as we've seen (given love, support while also being fed, clothed and given a nice house), Brandon was led to become a psycho by a talking spaceship and never showed any degree of resistance or remorse for breaking his crush's hand or killing the waitress & his uncle. Yes, he was shaken from being lied to about his birth (and I can think of movies & games that have used that as a reason for a character to go bad) but that scar can heal. I love how Brandon just used the plane to cover it all up, 1B Iq. I am aware for the black box and the 911 call; Though it's a pretty good ay to end a horror movie.
I mean I don’t see why he did it, he’s essentially invincible. Nothing can stop him so why cover it up?
Plus this would never be successful because 1. The blackbox would indicate it was hit by something and 2. The police 911 call and two missing officers! Where are their bodies?
@@nicetrythief8347 So everyone can fall for him
@@nicetrythief8347 While he may be powerful, he is still 12 and he is smart enough to know he can't fight the entire US military and survive. They will find a way to take him out, he is waiting until he grows into his full power.
Typical Human The cockpit data recorder would be no use because it would only shows problems the second they flew into him. The cockpit voice recorder is the only chance of getting and evidence of something being in front of the plane. That’s only if the pilot said something though. Also the black boxes stop recording 30 second before power is cut to them. So the would have probably not gotten anything from them either black boxes. The FBI would probably put it as a terrorist attack after they find the blood symbol on the fuselage of the plane.
Second he saw the plane his Homelander instincts kicked in
All things considered if the people close to the kid just stopped trying to kill him and realised that the best thing they could do was emotionally attach him to them so that they could instil a sense of morality and humanity within him this would not have been so bad.

This kid kills his family, then sits emotionless eating cookies, not caring about what he's done. This kid really pissed me off.

Honestly, out of all the kills in this movie, the cops got off easiest by being immediately blown to smithereens. The uncle definitely had the most brutal death.
What about the dad

Nah I have to disagree. He did that cop lady the worse. He was literally slinging her around the house like a rag doll. Honestly that was the most disturbing death scene in the whole movie I felt very disturbed after that scene. It was worse than what he did to his mom

The piece of metal she tries to stab him with is a piece from the ship which cut and hurt him in the movie early on. She figured this might be the only thing that could kill him when everything else has failed.
