    Spark plug cylinder #4 is a bitch to replace. I just replaced mine in a 1985 Camaro Z28 with the tuned port injection. Got to lay under the car, and you got to feel for it, won't be able to see it. I agree, it was a pain.

    I had a 87 T/A with lil more than stock 350 Vortec in it. Ran 14.5 with manifolds and stock 2.5" exhaust. Put a set of Hooker 2460s on it and 3" exhaust with cat delete and ran 13.7s the next time. These cars are strangled by the stock exhaust, shorty headers and 3" unrestricted exhaust certainly adds power

    I have trouble with the log type on my 83' z28 with the 350 lol, you just saved me a ton of headache that I wasn't even considering, I forgot how much of a pain the plugs are even with the log type manifolds I have. I was going to redo my whole exhaust system since my Y pipe right now rocks back and forth LMAO, I'll just get a decent y pipe for now and use the log style manifolds until I have my whole top end figured out and ready to be put on.

    Headers on a stock 305/350 won’t do much other than clean up the sound. I had a set of shorties that opened up to a catless 3” exhaust. My engine was built up substantially though lol. Plugs and header bolts were a pain. Now the car is getting a blueprint 400 SBC and true duals like it deserves.

    • @UsefulEntertainment
      @UsefulEntertainment  Před rokem

      There u go, that's what I was trying to explain to everyone, headers do become a requirement when build the engine up but they are a novelty item that will bite you in the asss it your putting them on a stock motor that you have no intentions of really modifying. 👍

  • @rodneybyrd9516

    350 is debatable as to single tailpipe but a 283/307/327 may benefit from a 2.5" headpipes to a Flowmaster merge collector and a 3" muffler/tailpipe. Short stroke, small cubic inch engines (in my experience) have much more bottom end with this high velocity setup (better scavenging). I am a MoPar guy and all my 318s (same stroke almost as a 330/350 Olds) get that treatment. Better breathing/larger CID engines benefit from duals with a X-pipe or H-pipe crossover and 2.5" mufflers (3" with BBs or strokers). You are right though, that most mild/stock engines in drivers need manifolds and a well matched muffler setup! Was nice to see you at the NNNs, I asked about where was your 430 Buick buddy!! LOL

    Considering headers on my olds 350. Seems to be choking with manifolds. I shaped out the 307 on my 90 buick wagon for a 72 olds 350 .030 over with the 280 stick. Tried to copy your build for the wagon. Any tips. And what rear are you running

    • @UsefulEntertainment
      @UsefulEntertainment  Před rokem +1

      From what I've heard is it's really hard to fit headers into a b body, you have to cut and weld a lot. Oof, the wagon has like a 291 rear in it, it would probably benefit from say 323s. Olds motors to respond well to headers, especially the early ones with good heads and a decent cam.

    • @UsefulEntertainment
      @UsefulEntertainment  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I think they'll help because of the bigger camshaft.
      My whole rant on this was it was pointless on this car being a pretty much stock engine.
      The biggest problem you may have with them not being that beneficial is, the stock tbi swirl port heads.
      If you had an aftermarket set or an older set from the late 60s, headers would really help.

The C5 got the LS but I don't for the look unless it's a coupe. The C6 seems to be a well built car but I haven't had much exposure to them. The C7 is fast and edgy but still too pricey. The C8 is just trying too hard to be a cheap Ferrari.

      @UsefulEntertainment  Před rokem +1

      Lol don't feel attacked. I see what you do on your channel, you also do a little more mods to your cars where it would justify running them. I'd put money on it that if I put manifolds on this thing and went for a drive, I wouldn't notice anything different.

    • @EfurdGarage
      @EfurdGarage Před rokem

      @@UsefulEntertainment I really dont i was kidding lol. I do some other supporting mods but i still believe picking the correct headers help even on a stock engine. Now obviously picking a set of super comp headers on a stock engine is never a good idea. they do make smaller tube headers which can help torque on a stock engine considering the junk old manifold design. Heck look at some of the new exhaust manifolds they almost look like shortys. so picking the right size helps but also one thing from buying alot of headers is dont cheap out because good brands ake sure plug fitment is ok, but also with the larger tube headers you lose some of that because of the larger tubes and it becomes a give and take. Looking at yours well someone may have went either to big or not the correct ones. But that is part of buying someone elses hotrod
