You are getting better at being concise. And you talk faster. I kinda like meandering Matt who goes off on tangents. Part of what made me like your videos is the unintentional comedy. I also discovered that Japanese denim companies don't make jeans with weightlifters in mind lol. Waist and rise is perfect but the thighs are tight.
Haha. I think you stand alone with the meandering Matt. Got so much hate with the king videos. Now it’s all just business business business. Maybe I need to switch it up now and the for the sake of variety. Thanks for your support as always.
I like the meandering, too!
@@CeeAreDee I know it would be ridiculously expensive and not worth it but I think that a @ceearedee video in okajima would be epic! Or a tour of the BDD factory? Or exploring how denim culture in America and Europe differs? I don't know. Just some ideas.
people wont like me saying this but if your really big the naked and famous weird guy but with a selvage stretch fabric would work. the thighs would look great the stretch is comfy as and the fabric isnt so bad either and fades really well. And the jeans would still kinda look normal from the knee down with just a chill taper.
Very nicely laid out explanation! And brutally honest. The tough-love we all need at times.
Absolutely! Appreciate it buddy.
Thank you for this excellent video.Am really clearer why in all these years I have not been consistent in choosing the right jeans. Its never too late in life to learn.I am 75 years old.Thank you from my heart. ❤😊
You have got this down to a science. Maybe the most fun video I've seen from you so far, really enjoyed it. Thanks!
Glad to hear it! Thanks Alan
Spot on. My best looking jeans on me, are the ones that complement my body shape. And, being realistic about changes in my body shape over the years. That aging thing.... no one is spared.
Haha. Wise words. We’re all heading there. One day at a time.
Absolutely love your channel! Working on my personal style but have been finding it hard to find an equivalent to your videos for women- any recs there?
That said the principles of men’s fashion you talk through have been so helpful for me too and really instructive in terms of buying for quality and what suits your lifestyle ☺️
I enjoy your videos so much. Thank you! Keep it going, man.
Thanks buddy. Really appreciate you saying that and tuning in.
This is a thoroughly helpful video. Great work.
Glad to hear that! Thank you
Back in the 80s and 90s oversized weee popular. I have a pair of 501s that look really loose but only a inch big. If you wear oversized wear with a more fitted top half. I wear 501. 93 and they look great
Cheers Matt great advice once again. I have way too much denim now but love it.
You and me both!
Excellent video as always. To be fair your pair of jeans looks good though. Certainly on the more relaxed side, but I'm sure it will be nice to style and wear!
You just wrecked me man
Nice. I'm sticking to my slim taper jeans for being an ecto and a powerlifter. It just works for me, with a good pair of boots and tucked in shirt to show off the mid-rise jeans. Everything you said here is obviously carefully analyzed. Cheers

@@hoo_jii it's how I said it, just make sure the clothes fit right. Working out is the most of this I might add
@@hoo_jii also I rock a full grain leather belt from Cravar Indonesia. I have a black and a brown one. Best belts and not the wimpy genuine leather stuff
Those are some true words.
such a great video!! i got a pair of RJB flat head jeans on special at corlection and they were a weird super skinny but in a 38 which is a fair bit more than my usual 36. and they fit me perfectly, no plumbers crack, maintains its room in the thigh because of the upsize and makes a little contact with my calf on the taper at the knee. unfortunately this pair of jeans isnt a thing anymore 🤣🤣🤣
Ah. It’s always sad when they stop making the perfect pair.
What are the work boots are you wearing in the beginning and end of the video?
What is interesting is that I really like your look in the baggier jeans; it works because you are doing a contrast with the dark and fitted denim jacket.
Good vid. Can we get a follow up on the Greek jacket worn here?
To be honest it’s been winter since I got it so it’s not seen any wear.
Am I really the first? Awesome!!! Great vid. Really helped
Yes you are! Appreciate it.
Would you be able to do a video on the do’s and don’ts of hemming and tailoring? I feel like it would be a good compliment for this video. Sometimes even if you follow the numbers the fit is still off. I’m between a 32 and 33 which you think would be great, but they both come with their caveats. 32’s are great in the waist, but tight in the thighs (especially with no stretch). 33’s are great in the thighs, but since they are usually a higher rise AND wider waist I have to cinch my belt an extra notch to reduce the puff of air that comes from the back of my pants (and no, I’m not talking about farts).
I’ve got one on hemming. But the one on tailoring is not a bad idea. Thanks buddy.
@@CeeAreDee I watched it and gave it a like, I just think it would fit in a tailoring video. Maybe it can be about alterations in general?
Just get it tailored, i have tailored most of my pants......looks good and best investment...
Sometimes tailoring can only do so much.
great video, I'm a skinny guy and always unhappy in the jeans I buy...current pair are a pair of Gap relaxed ones... i bought some nice dark ones from next but they make my legs look really skinny, and sadly there's no way I'll wear slim jeans...
I've just ordered some peacefulhooligan 'LOOSE FIT JEANS RINSE WASH' and a pair of Hoggs of fife moleskin jeans...see how they fare..!
Good luck mate. Lemme know how it goes.
@@CeeAreDee thanks, i took delivery of the peaceful hooligan ones and i like them, better than expected... the hoggs ones were a size too small so will get a refund on them, and ordered a pair of calvin klein 'Unisex Straight Selvedge Jeans - CK Standards' and expecting them anytime.. :)
skinny jeans fit me like a slim fit, and slim fit is like a straight cut. and despite the fact that I am 31 years old, I will continue to wear skinny)
Is that the Filson CPO shirt jac? How is it? I’ve been ogling it for a while now.
That’s the 3sixteen officer shirt. Kinda like the Filson but I like the cut of this more.
You’re very hard on yourself, pal. You’re holding up pretty cool IMHO
What makes denim have this sprinkled color at 7:58?
True Religion.
I disagree that they're too long. They actually fit you pretty nicely they just don't work with the fit of how you wear your other clothes.
Hmm. You think so? I see a difference between cut for oversized and being too big.
What about a mesomorph that eats too many cookies?
One tip after watching several of your videos, step away from your desk. Change environment, go film outside for example. The stuff you talk about is good.
I’d love to of there was another 2 days in the week.
Well well, good info however, how about the short guys out here 🤔
Same advice applies
What if you’re a xenomorph?

Going to a coal miners cosplay 😂😂
👨🏼🌾
Mate, the jeans to the right, the baggier pair, looked a lot better than the tighter fit. They looked too small.
You stand alone in that opinion. But fair enough.
@@CeeAreDee but that’s because your followers go for the slim look in general. I bet you’d get a different reaction if you asked the guys in the SuFu denim forum.
You're not alone in that opinion. He needs more space in the thighs and seat.
Laughing my ass out
You probably need a pair of high rise to stop that from happening.
Bahahaha
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I think any "man" wearing skinny jeans is wrong, even at 20. This also goes to inappropriate taper for your body. If you're an endomorph or mesomorph you look like an idiot with a 5 or 6 inch hem. For those of you that do, we're making fun of you behind your back.
That's right! Fuck skinny jeans
Haha. Maybe not behind their back. I prefer to talk shit face to face and have a laugh.
Jeans are just basically terrible work pants. Stop trying to make them into something they're not.
I fail to see your point.
@@CeeAreDee People are always trying to pair them with sport jackets and things. It doesn't really work the way they think it does or should. Denim was invented as cheap fabric for a reason.
@@Highland_Paddy that is totally agree with.
Also, people wear them year round here and I am stupefied because they don't wear comfortably in most climates in most weather most of the year as well as something heavier or lighter or more suited to their profession. Like you said about the whole coal miner thing X 1000 or something. Khakis, etc. are way more versatile.
Guys who WORK in jeans don't usually give two thoughts about how they LOOK doing it, but ever since the rebellious 50s and 60s gave way to the "casual" 70s, it's been a steam-roll trend, as others have documented after I had already formed this opinion, blah, blah.
Love your channel but the beginning, you just needed a belt…cmon ma.
I recently purchased my first pair of denim sugar cane jeans and they fit good and want to keep them that way.. will they shrink if I wash? They are one wash but can’t get a clear answer to what they means
One wash usually means that they are pretty stable. You’d loose the most off the length if anything. In the waist they would stretch out again pretty quickly.
@@CeeAreDee will they shrink again after each wash? They fit perfect right now
@@jesse8737 no no. After the first all the shrink should be out of them.
@@CeeAreDee but doesn’t one wash mean they’ve already had the first wash?
Went from loving denim to hating it. Why would anyone want to drop 300 on a pair of jeans that will be too small in a few months, or not shrink at all and be too big? Too many variable and will always be a loss. There is no difference between sanforised and unsanforised - even one wash denim shrinks for 3-4 washes after the factory wash.
You didn’t wash it at 60 degrees did you?
@@georgeleorgebeorge2354 haven’t washed. My opinion is through research,
I wouldn’t base your opinions on purely anecdotal information. Too many variables to take into account. Although. All I can offer is an anecdote. One wash in my experience tends to shrink down in the waist after a wash but quickly stretches out again.
