  • Hey All, welcome to episode 24 of our RAM Promaster 2500 van build/conversion series. Today we are installing our ceiling, using some awesome cedar tongue and groove planks that we got from the local lumber yard. It took us quite a while to decide on a ceiling material. We knew that, since the walls were going to be white, we wanted something warmer and more earthy for the ceiling….and the coziness of the cedar planks was just perfect.
We’ll run through all the steps we took, along with all our mistakes and frustrations, to get the planks sanded, coated, measured, cut…and installed.
We are really happy with how it all came out.
If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below, and please give a thumbs-up if you enjoyed this video and found in helpful to you. Subscribe to our channel to follow along on our entire van build series.
    Blessings to you 
    Marc and Tania

Products we used in the episode:
Cedar Tongue and Groove Planks (be choosy…make sure they are straight and the right shading that you are looking for before you select them)

Miter saw (ours is a Ridgid)
Drill with various bits (again, we love our Makita)

I enjoy seeing you guys building as a team. It's also refreshing to see you admit and show your goof-ups and how you then overcome them. I'm really interested in what you are going to do with the solar. Please provide as much detail as possible - thank you for sharing!!

Hi Michael, So sorry for the delay in responding. We did the roof rack last wee and will be working on the solar this week. We will certainly include all the detail we can...and, of course, all our mess-ups :) Thanks for watching

You said you might want to cover those screw heads with wood putty or wood filler or whatever it was you called it. what you do is you get some sawdust from them boards that you cut, and you mix it with some clear glue Elmer's Glue and you make your own putty. that way it is a match to the same color wood and its cheaper than wood filler. It will just match up and look better.

Dang....thats an awesome idea...I totally forgot that you can do that....been trying to match the cedar color for several days... THANK YOU!!!

They are 5/8' thick x 5 1/4" wide. The T+G is a bit finicky to assemble...shiplap would have been more straight forward....but we love the look of it.

I thought the reason you pay the high price for cedar is for the great smell so why seal it?

Obviously I do not know how you're going to finish out your shower. but here is something that I think you should really take a look at. the guys Channel on CZcams is BigLogan. And then go to.
camper van shower build with Flex Seal
Its only an 11:44 minute video. After watching that video I will be doing my shower like that. it's worth watching.

I've seen his channel. Quite an entertaining guy. We are planning to do Kerdi board on top of the framing...and then FRP board....but I will give that channel a look. That might be a better way to do it. Thanks for sharing with us :)
