Alec Baldwin Questioned by Police After ‘Rust’ Shooting

- The release of police videos from last year’s fatal shooting on the set of “Rust” has people pouring over each frame. But the family of the cinematographer who was killed is questioning why so much evidence was released during an active investigation. Among the videos are clips of Alec Baldwin rehearsing the scene that would end in Hutchins’ accidental death. Three hours later, at the sheriff's office, investigators read him his Miranda rights before questioning.
For that child to grow up without a loving mother is a pain that will always be with him....😞 The assistant director and armourer should be interrogated as well.
she was
From different articles I've read, the armorer was stretched thin because she was given multiple jobs to do. And while she was away doing her other duties, there were people who got the guns to use for target practice with real bullets. Plus, she was not the one who handed Alec the gun before the shooting.
Right??? Why is everybody putting this on Baldwin only. There was a “professional” gun handler on set. This is mostly their fault, not his.
@Spentrav a professional gun handler? unless you're trained with firearms, you have no business touching one. Alec refused training and bc of his arrogance killed someone
O well
I feel so bad for him and her family. The guilt he feels I cannot imagine let alone the pain of her husband and children..
It's Joel Souza fault, he's brought alive rounds of his set and never informed the crew about it
@@rolando90s I don't recall that name, sorry. I only saw that Nicholas Cage said he would not continue shooting his movie with that armorist because he didn't trust her..
@@Swnsasy ohh, OK
@@rolando90s I just looked him up. Thanks for the info!!!
Alec Baldwin has no reason to feel any guilt. He never pulled the trigger.
Guys let's be honest about this whole tragic event.
Mr. Baldwin was right when he said. Where did that bullet come from? That gun should be empty. EMPTY! The idea that he wanted to kill that woman is ridiculous.
Someone loaded that gun with live rounds! That person is fully responsible for Involuntary manslaughter.
Yeah it's not fair for anybody and whoever did it should be EXTREMELY sorry for what they have done.
You're absolutely right! But neither did Mr. Baldwin exercise proper gun safety while handling that weapon. If you're going to handle and use any firearm at all, you need to personally inspect it for yourself. Then you need to employ safe gun handling practices throughout the entire time that the firearm is in your control. There is no excuse for what happened. There is at least 3-4 people responsible for this tragedy.
@@TONY19021965 idk much about guns but why would a movie set use a real gun in the first place? Or is that common practice?
It was his set! He was responsible just because he has money does not give him a get out of jail free card
I still don't think it's his fault. Sorry. It's just not.
Alec Baldwin had the right to be asking questions about this whole thing. The gun was never even supposed to have a bullet in it, EVER! Yet it did. It makes no sense. He isn't responsible for any of this. Rest in peace to Mrs. Hutchins and my condolences to her family.
He should have been trained to look in the chamber every single time to make sure there wasn't a bullet in there. He shot her. No doubt about that. He shot her. How much is his fault will have to be determined in court but, he shot her and it killed her.
He had the firearm in his hand and he pulled the trigger, he is 100% at fault
You always double check and even triple check a firearm. They aren't toys and as this incident shows, can cause deadly accidents if treated like one.
He is responsible considering he said himself that he has firearms training and the gun was in his hands.
Delusional
He probably didn't know that gun had bullets in it, I'm just really curious to know why it was actually loaded 🙁 This is just horrible. God bless you all and please be careful
It’s a single action revolver with a “gate” instead of a pop out cylinder, meaning you load one round in and spin the cylinder to the next slot. Only way you’ll know if it’s loaded is if you open the gate or look to the side of the weapon. It sounds like when they took the weapon out shooting that morning, someone didn’t fire a cartridge in the cylinder and didn’t realize it was still loaded
@@thedesertrat_9514 armorers fault 100% they shouldnt be firing real rounds out of movie set firearms
@@expiredgamer_ugh Worse, she was responsible for making sure they were all clear before placing them on the armorer’s cart and for keeping the firearms locked when she’s not present

It is 100% the responsibility of the person HOLDING the firearm to determine whether or not it poses a danger. Even on a film set. That’s not just my opinion. That’s PROTOCOL.
If you’re handed a gun, you CHECK IT. Baldwins been through more firearms safety training during his acting career then the average police officer. For this to have occurred was either a deliberate act, or an act of such profound criminal negligence that it warrants jail time.

@@huntedrogue4209 Bro, there is a very, very clear distinction between dummy/blank rounds and live rounds. The tips don't even look remotely alike. This is why if you see ANY round in the chamber, the first thing you do when you gain possession of it is take it out and inspect it.

For real or much accountability on Souza. Like I get it, Baldwin had the weapon but that’s not how it works on movie sets. They get passed around by a certified armorer before being verified that it’s a cold gun. Mate, if your an actor right, and you get handed a gun for your role as a cowboy, I'm sure you're gonna pull the trigger at some point. So I think it's safe to say he did pull the trigger. That point aside though, is that really the problem ??? I think the problem is the live rounds loaded into the gun that is intended for a movie set.

The gun isn’t Baldwin’s responsibility. That belongs to the 1st AD and the armorer. Both who failed at their job. The gun was being used for practice shooting by the crew between takes, placed out of lockup without the bullets removed. 1st AD brought it to set, didn’t check it, handed a live gun to Baldwin who released the hammer, shooting the bullet. It’s not a duel action revolver, so all it took was releasing the hammer. This is the only way it went down.
if I shoot a kid that was being handled by someone else before passing it off to me, who is guilty of manslaughter?
@Michelle Norris Again, not his responsibility. 1st AD. I know executive producer is a big title, but for Alec Baldwin, it’s just a prestigious title here to get him to sign onto a super low budget indie.
He said the gun fired by itself, which is almost impossible as it’s a 45 colt revolver and for it to fire you have to pull the hammer back and put your finger on the trigger.

Sacrifice ritual .
After watching the video Alec Baldwin put after shortly after the shooting describing what happened and claiming his innocence, the footage here does not exactly line up. Further investigation is greatly needed.
Thing is that type of gun needs the hammer to be cocked back then pull the trigger to fire in those video takes it looked like he never cocked the hammer back or tried to so there is a chance that that couldn’t have been a accidental firing.
As a Marksmanship Instructor in the USMC and a manager at a gun club for 3 years, I cannot imagine why there was even a real gun with live ammunition on a film set. If actors want to shoot live bullets, go to a range. If a "gun expert" is hired for a scene then only inert ammunition and inoperable guns should be on the set. Totally preventable.
@Paul Smith a blank doesn't recoil like a real round, blanks sound more like a highly compressed fart instead of a real "bang" and they can add smoke digitally or with a some compressed dust.
Now how is there no video of the shooting if they were filming at the time?
there's no video of halyna hutchins actually being shot, but there is footage of alec baldwin's side of things. her job meant she was always behind the camera, idk why anyone expects there to be footage of her death
if someone passes me a loaded gun, is it my responsibility to handle it properly not knowing whether it is loaded or not? isn't it MY responsibility to check the chamber of the revolver? isn't it MY responsibility to know firearm basics so I don't hurt myself or others? the answer is YES. but for some reason, Hollywood doesn't follow the rules like us dumb peasants, huh
Nope. It's a professional production. Unfortunately, he's not trained to "handle" the firearm properly. That's what the Armorer is for. Now, I'm not necessarily saying this is the right way to do it, but it's like a bus driver trying to do a safety check on their bus before leaving to make sure brakes work, the computer works, etc so it doesn't malfunction and kill someone. According to the production, he's not qualified to do that. I understand that's it's not hard to look at the gun and do your own assessment, but that's just not how it's done with film production. Now, moving forward, might be a different story.
@Dawn V he declined to do any firearm safety training. that's on him. that's manslaughter. if you or i mishandled a firearm and killed someone we get 20 years minimum in a federal prison bc its a gun
@@JimmmyRaynor But we wouldn't on a set. It's just how it works. Again, not saying it's right, that's just how it is. It's a professional production. It's different with different permits and protocols. 🤷
@Dawn V it doesn't matter if it's on a set. nobody is supposed to hand a loaded gun to someone else. but even if they do, it's the operator in control of the firearm to properly handle it. bc of Alec Baldwin refusing to properly handle the firearm, someone is dead and another person was hospitalized. that's manslaughter and that's his fault plain and simple. if a parent had negligently handled a firearm and shot their kid, the whole world would ask why that parent wasn't arrested, but bc there's a celebrity everyone is trying to protect him

Not to state the obvious, but the only way he’s at fault is if he loaded the gun himself or knew it was loaded. I think they should’ve investigated more instead of immediately arresting him.
Your statement is ignorant and reckless. Anyone holding a gun is responsible for that gun. Baldwin appears to have violated 3 of the 4 basic gun safety rules. You should look them up.

Tbh I kinda feel bad for Baldwin here you can tell he’s distressed and angry that he shot two people truly a tragic case that can hopefully stop tragedy’s like this in future productions
Notice that each time he draws the gun his finger is on the trigger.
Thats for the movie details
This guy chose to be ignorant when it comes to guns, the irony of him advocating anti-gun law but he wanna use gun on a movie set and refused to learn basic safety of weapons and now he ended up killing someone! Guns don’t fire itself unless you pull the trigger and as shown on the video he had his finger on the trigger every time he pulls that pistol outta the holster. This guy might not even realize it that he pulled the trigger, should still be charged with negligence resulting in death at least but knowing this guy got connection and money he won’t spend a day.
Exactly my thoughts
it’s not his fault 💀 he isn’t responsible for getting the guns for the movie or anything hes the actor hes supposed to act hes not the armorer.
This is the prop departments fault. Any gun on a movie shooting should never have a bullet in it! The fact that they think baldwin wanted to kill her is insane. And even if he did pull the trigger nothing should've came out of the gun, cause its supposed to be empty. This is not alec baldwins fault, he should be asking "Where did that bullet come from?"
Reminds me of Brandon Lee
At 0:24 - 0:25 you can see how he grabs the weapon a second time like he wants to grab it better. Is that the moment?...
Nobody blamed the lightsaber during Order 66.
Hes the only 1 responsible gor the gun hes holding. Treat any gun as its always live. He is 100% responsible.
I don't know why everyone blaming him .he is not a gun expert .he is just actor playing a role . people who provide gun should be blamed for not following safety in set
It's the armorer's fault. But claiming he didn't pull the trigger is just stupid.
Technically it could happen. It’s an old single action Colt 45 with no transfer bar like modern revolvers. If the hammer gets snagged or doesn’t lock as it’s being cocked, it could cause a discharge
RIP but also something tells me that there's something sketchy with the film crew originally as if there was a target.
This was a freak accident people!! A complete accident!
Yes it’s extremely sad and unfortunate… but I hate how people feel the need to have to have someone to point at and blame these days. Accidents happen, and this one was one of those… an ACCIDENT.
It was negligence,not an accident
It was obviously an accident but very irresponsible of him to not check that weapon before using it, it’s his fault completely.
Get Iaiddddd, LOL!
If it was a regular person not a actor that person would been arrested the armour should be locked up
no its not... this can be prevented... and anyone with common sense u check the gun to make sure it doesnt have a real bullet
To everyone questioning how the gun went off without him pulling the trigger; that revolver can go off by just pulling back and releasing the hammer
no it cant lol
@@_flyingcat_7527 its a single action revolver
@@iamnotasheariambutathing1738 correct
Very unlikely, most replica revolvers will lock at halfcock unless the trigger is pulled. It's also extremely unlikely that he pulled it back enough for it to fire the cartridge but not lock the hammer. The main issue reported with these revolvers going off on themselves is when the hammer is already down and it is hit with force (this clearly did not happen here). This footage clearly shows his finger on the trigger, it's not unlikely that he accidentally pulled it.
They keep focusing on him. It’s time to focus on those whose job involved that gun. Why did they have a live round in it. Why wasn’t it checked. At least he’s humbled a bit because of this.
No remorse, no emotion. It's like he wanted to kill her.
It's a simple thing. Helena Hutchins' death was of no fault of Alec Baldwin's AT ALL. The person at fault is whoever put the live round in the gun. Whether they maliciously meant to put that round in the gun or they erroneously loaded the gun with that round is the million dollar question, but the person the police should be looking at is whoever loaded the gun. Point blank. Period.
Not true. It states in the safety guidelines that the actor handling the gun must ALSO check the gun.
@@adamlewis3729 Well if that's the case that doesn't make the person who loaded the gun any less responsible.

Not broadcast otherwise known as "it will not give us money"
"some of the video is too graphic" so why even show that part of the video anyways? I dont want to see that
I miss Brandon Lee . He died too young !!!
It’s not uncommon for films to use real guns but not loaded. Obviously someone put it in their n he definitely didn’t kill someone on purpose, despite saying he didn’t pull the trigger. Idk man hopefully it gets resolved. We may get a movie still n people will have closure. But someone ain’t owning up
That’s not his fault
Why arent they bringing the Head Armorer and the assistant Armorer for questioning?!
