    I used to work at the Taco Bell in Woodland Park Colorado from 2006-2008 and we sold/served chili cheese burritos during my entire tenure there and they were somewhat popular (30-50 sold a day normally). Of course crunchy/soft tacos and bean burritos were by far our highest selling items followed by quesadillas, burrito supremes, dollar menu burritos, nacho supreme, crunchwraps, 7-layer burritos, the occasional tostadas, then finally overpriced items such as Mexican Pizzas, grilled stuffed burritos, nacho bell grandes, and taco salads but I'd put chili cheese burritos right behind 7-layer burritos in regards to popularity.
    One widowed old man would come in every day at 10am (the minute we opened) and would almost always order a chili cheese burrito and 2 crunchy tacos with a senior drink, I bet he came in 5 days a week regularly, could tell he was depressed about life but I made damn sure to make his food well and knew he liked lots of lettuce on his tacos and half-red sauce on his chili cheese burrito. I would also add onions free of charge for him because he liked them.

    My father complained up to his death about them discontinuing the Bell Beefer. We couldn't get through a Taco Bell commercial or even say Taco Bell without having him mention it. He was very picky about his food. It was hard to find something he liked. And then have them take it away he gets so bad. Same thing with a McDonalds mcdlt. Where the hot side was hot in the cold side was cold. Couldn't go through McDonald's without him mentioning that.

    • @MutethatBozo
      @MutethatBozo Před rokem +2

      My younger brother was a very picky eater. He only ever wanted steak and green beans, and it had to be a specific brand of string beans. The rest of us were more adventurous eaters. The Bell Beefer made it possible for us to go to Taco Bell without him pouting, or throwing a screaming fit.
      I wish that Taco Bell would bring back The Bell Beefer, and the classic Enchirito.

    • @roachtoasties
      @roachtoasties Před rokem +2

      I worked at a Taco Bell decades ago when they had the Bell Beefer. Basically it was the taco meat, red sauce, some cheese and onions, and shredded lettuce if you wanted, in a hamburger bun we kept warm in a steamer cabinet. They could have resurrected it at any time by putting hamburger buns back in their inventory. I doubt they would do that now, because of their "think beyond the bun" campaign. If they did reintroduce the item, it wouldn't be the same. The taco meat, and other ingredients, were better back then. The taco meat now is more like dog food. Put that in a hamburger bun and you'll probably throw-up.
