The changeable toys were awesome
When I was a kid I probably went to McDonald's twice. Each time I got a barbie in my happy meal.🤷🏽♀️
I was born in the mid '80s, but I remember many of these toys cuz I had older cousins. I really appreciate you playing the commercials as well because it it jogs my memory!

Anyone else after finding out McDonald's brought back the McNugget Buddies?
Same here! It's funny cuz I was with my 18 yr old daughter at Mickey D's yesterday and saw the McNugget toys and I yelled out "Omg,I used to have those when I was a kid!" My daughter gave me a look like Are you serious Mom? She said she felt sorry for me cuz my toys looked like the "sucked"😮😢 lol I explained to her that they gave me hours of fun 😊

Ha! I’m a 1981 born kid and I’m at Mcdonald s now with my kids and I got the adult happy meal with a McNugget toy. I pulled up this video to show them I used to have them.
Yep! I saw them today and couldn't believe it!!! I had all of them as a kid,even the nugget box you could buy. Does anyone remember that?
I remember most of these. My niece & nephew were getting their Happy Meals in the 80s. (My twin's kiddoes.)
I remember how much I loved getting a Happy Kids Meal just to get the toys :) while I don't eat Mcdonald's anymore I do have so much nostalgia for that stuff. Thank you Abby for sharing your beautiful memories with us. They always make me happy, sad, and cry because your wholesome personality fills me with hope.

Oh yes, same here! Our daughter had so many Beanie Babies (thanks to her grandma, lol!) I see those often at estate sales, but the 80's ones are harder to find.
I remember the changeables so well. Maybe they were slightly different in the UK, but I remember I loved the fries one and the milkshake one. When you compare them to the junk free toys you get now, we were really lucky to get toys so cool in a happy meal. Cheers for the video 🎉

I'm a bit too old to have eaten Happy Meals...however, I put together plenty of them, as a McDonalds employee in 1985. Some people would try to exchange their Happy Meal toys for other toys. I usually tried to satisfy them.

Awww! My first time trying McDonald’s was in 1981. We were visiting from Mexico. I was 4 yrs old and still remember how amazed I was at the happy meal 🤩🥳 we didn’t have McDonald’s until the late 1980s/early 1990s in Mexico so eating at McDonald’s when in the USA was amazing! 💓🙏

We got our first one in 77 pros and cons being rather late than never as a kid we had my first taste in 83 when it was a novelty the population wasn't crazy coming in the 80s it stopped somehow in 87.

They're adorable! Muppet Babies were definitely among my faves!
They rock with the Fraggles also and the Burgers like Robots my memories come flooding back

I love Happy Meal Toys! And I also love the reminder of the 80’s packaging 😊 I remember getting a plastic baggie type hand puppet at McDonald’s when I was really young lol. I don’t know if that was in a happy meal or maybe if you went to a birthday party there.

@@Our80sLife Though this is unofficial (not confirmed by McDonald's), some sources say McDonald's are releasing Halloween pails on October 18th. It would be so cool if they were the ones from the 80's.
It is official, the pails are being released on October 18th.

This was so much fun to watch! The McNugget buddies were among my favorites and the transformer food too. Still have a box of toys from this amazing decade. 😊 I knew I needed to find a true 80’s kid channel (I’ll be 45 this year) to sort out my nostalgic memories. I would be so interested to see a feature on just the alternate “boxes” used for happy meals - like the Halloween buckets. I still have a vinyl lunch sack and a couple hard plastic hinged lunch box(?) type things as well as a distinct memory of buckets that were a summertime promo that were beach pails with little shovels and things to mold sand! There were thin plastic two-part containers through the 80’s that were spaceships and boats. You had a sticker sheet to add the windows and designs. Do you remember them as well?

@@Our80sLife also I loved the Halloween pails! They glowed in the dark too. On many top 10 worst happy meal toys videos on CZcams the pails sadly are often in those lists for not being a fun "toy". The bucket WAS the toy as we knew it would be holding candy lol
I'm a 90's baby but I had some Halloween McNugget Buddies and I got an ice cream dino changeable at a garage sale and I thought they were the coolest!
Awesome!! The McNugget Buddies are getting quite collectible these days. I rarely find them at estate sales, so I get super pumped when I spot them. They're adorable!
A lot of good memories getting a Happy Meal. I never really watched Muppet Babies so much but was really into the actual Muppet Show. Slightly off subject but McDonalds also had Muppet Drinking glasses. I know I had at least some of them and may still have them somewhere.
Oh yes, the Muppet Show was SO good!! I've seen those drinking glasses at our local antique mall. They're very cute!
My favorite 1980s Happy Meal was the UFO. The Meal was in the plastic UFO.

When my grandma passed we found all my mom's old macdonald transformers haha. My mom still has her smurf ones. And i have the same fozzy Muppet baby!!

Yes! I have no clue what kind of toys they're giving out nowadays, but surely they can't be better than some of the cool toys we got back in the 80s and 90s, right?!
Definitely had some of these when I was a kid! In 1990 I remember mcdonalds had jungle book toys in there happy meals and all I could get was the tiger everytime I went! I really wanted to get them all but just kept getting that stupid tiger! lol
LOL!! I remember that problem too... they always said "collect them all" then you'd keep getting the same one, sigh. I think my friends and I sometimes worked out a trade, ha! 😂

I have that same witch bucket! I also have the Fraggle Rock carrot car, Oliver, the dino drink, dino McNuggets, dino ice cream cone and the dino hotcakes. I kept all of my original ones, but I did buy another dino McNuggets, because I think my original one is in my toybox in the shed and that shed is difficult to get into with all the growth in the way. I gotta do something about that one day lol!

80s forever
Most useful kids meal toy I've still got is..... a Sonic bug catcher. But that came in 200X. However I really miss those vinyl toys and their smell. Especially after the Hot fries melded with them. Oh man. What! I forgot long, long, long ago about the changeable. Didn't even know what that was but I had one at least.
Oh wow, I think I remember our daughter getting one of those Sonic bug catchers too! You're right, that was a great idea for a kids meal toy. It's funny how some of these toys are forgettable while others stay in our memories. I have a few stand-outs as well.

You have a few of my favorites I see. I did have a few of those Nugget Buddies Transformers, and I did have The Bearenstein Bears, all four Muppet Babbies (a couple of them I had to buy again at the Antique Mall), and also Mac Tonight in his red car (which I had to buy again from the Antique Mall). Definitely brought back more memories for me!!!
It's funny how we feel the need to buy back objects from our childhood, right?! I was just talking to a lady at an estate sale about that phenomenon... totally relatable!

I remember when i went to mc donalds it was about 2014 thats when they had my little pony they also had gen3 i have some gen3 McDonald's ponys my fave one is minty gen 3 was around my time in the 2000s nice collection

So many of my visual memories are from my Happy Meal toys of back then. Do you remember back in the 80's I don't remember the had california rasins in happy meals and then they had smurfs at one point in happy meals.do you have from they started in around 1997 i think teenie beanie babys i got some that ain't opened I knew a manager of Mcdonalds back in dad he use tell me what was come in happy meals and he told me the toys that was new come out there week always released on Sundays because cause people always came to eat after Sunday School and Sunday evenings after people got out of church at night he said that was there real busy days of Church people always come to eat and socialize back then with other people inside and a lot of people would eat inside more on Sundays....lol
