- I made this beauty tutorial in 1987 when I was 13 years old, and it really captures the hair and makeup trends of the 80s. I'll show you how to apply eyeshadow and eyeliner in all those awesome 80s colors, put in your scrunchie, and style your bangs really big! Don't forget to use LOTS of hairspray!

This is so incredibly unique, people hardly upload their 80s home movie footage, let alone an adorable beauty tutorial from when they were 13! Thank you for sharing!â
Turn Back to the 80s Aww, thank you! I appreciate your kind words. We have more fun 80âs footage coming soon. Welcome to our channel đ
@@Our80sLife 1987 was the year I was born, this video reminds me of the very early years of CZcams, if CZcams was around in the 1980âs. Thanks for showing the 1980âs makeup products. This makes me feel nostalgic for a time I always wanted to live in!
I think life was better before the internet.
I'm sure you're right! Technology can be both a blessing and a curse. It was definitely a simpler, more carefree time. Thanks for stopping by our channel!
Detailed product information and camera placement. Totally ahead of your time.
I was 10 years old in 1987 wow. This was a while ago. I want to rewind my life back to these times. I would start all over and make better choices.
Loved this! CZcams is full of girls doing "80's makeup tutorials" but they are definitely modern over-imaginations. It's such a rare treat to watch a real 80's girl doing her everyday routine.
Aww, that's sweet. Thank you so much!! This is the real deal... wonder who I was even talking to, lol?!
I was born in 1995 and I'm always curious what life was like during the 70s-80s. It's nice to see that time seemed more carefree and not as toxic as it is today. At times, I'm convinced I belonged living during the golden era... maybe I can create a 80's inspired look based off of your informative video! You were certainly ahead of your time! đ€
Thanks for watching my video Katherine! I have recently added some new videos sharing some 80s inspired hairstyles for modern girls. We love hearing from people like you, some might call you an "old soul." Our daughter is the same way, and she's a few years younger than you. I'm glad to know the next generation is interested in keeping the 80s spirit alive!
You can also watch videos of people who were graduating high school in the 80s, posted on yt
Oh....wait a minute. If Abby was 13 in 87, she was born in 1974, like me. Abby and I are in the same age. This is great. And this video is too sweet. Oh good old days. And 1987 is my favorite year, when it comes to music. Madonna with "Who`s that girl", Michael Jackson with "Bad", Prince with "Sign O the times", George Michael, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi, what a great year. And Masters of the Universe movie hit the theaters....87 rocks.
Awesome!! Yes, I was born in '74 and Keith is one year older than me. You're right, 1987 was a great year for music! I was completely obsessed with George Michael back then, as were most teenage girls. I loved all of the music icons you mentioned as well. It's still my favorite era of music for sure! Thanks for watching :)
I was 20 years old in 1987. I wish I had such nice, clear skin when I was a teen...like you did. I also had no money for a perm, and my mother wasn't about to spring for one...I'm envious!
Thank you for your kind words. I was a lucky girl! Those perms though, lol! All my old pics have crazy hair, ha ha!
I feel your pain! I was 3 years younger than 80âs life. And my parents would only let me get one perm a year. And they never worked! They would stay curly for maybe a month or two and then my hair would start straightening back out. The back of my hair was so stubborn. It would never take good in the back for some reason. And my hair was so thin. I never had acne issues until I was 19 and when it hit me, it hit me hard! I had cystic acne. Luckily it didnât hit me in school cuz I was ugly enough already. Uggh!
Hearing âDallasâ on the radio just amped up the nostalgia for me even though I grew up there in the 2000s, not the 1980s â€
Aaah, me too. I miss my hometown. It was a great place to grow up!
as someone who is a teenager in 2021 alot of 80s style is coming back just a little different now
Weâre all for it! Letâs bring back the 80s!! đ
There have been a couple of 80 revivals, but this one has the added romantic element whereby many who are adopting the aesthetic were not alive to really know how it was, so itâs more of an 80s reimagining lensed through the millennial aesthetic. Combined with advances in fabric technology, and the rise in nostalgia, and we have a wonderfully realised style that shows us how much we want to move away from cynicism to a more optimistic outlook. The foundation elements of the 80s were optimism and in-the-moment self-expression.
@@creatrixZBD Thank you for your thoughtful insights. We totally agree with the sentiment. đŻ Optimism for the win! đ
You honestly looked like youâd be on Full House during its first season (which was in 1987 to 1988)
Fun! Thanks Leonard.
I was born in 1987 lol đ you rockin the Kimmy gibler hair đ€Łđ€Łđ„°so cute
LOL!! I didn't think about it, but you're totally on-point. đ
That was adorable and enlighting as well. The 80s seemed like such a carefree time.
Thanks for watching! đ
the video vault! Abby was a youtube star before youtube was ever invented! Now that's awesome! đ»đđ
Who knew?? I honestly don't remember making this video, lol!
An authentic home movie showcasing the styles of that time! All the trends in one video. I love it!
Thanks Stef!
You knew more about makeup at 13yrs than I do at 63yrs! Lol đđ
That hairstyle! Yes! đđđđđđ
Gotta love a good 80's perm, lol! Thanks for watching :)
So innocent
WOW! You had all that makeup at the age of 13? I wasn't allowed to even wear lipstick until I was 16 and other makeup I was 18. Lucky you, glad you have these for us 80 lover's to watch and reminisce, love your channel. Been watching one day so far but can't get enough!!â€
I'm gonna show this to my daughter... This was awesome
Sweet, thank you!!
As a millennial, I find this absolutely incredible. I work with older adults with dementia and did a full 80s day (curled my hair with a 1/4 inch wand to simulate a perm and everything!) and I had my mom show me how to do basically this exact same thing since she was in high school back then! I wish I could post a picture here. This video is just fantastic and man, I loved having big hair for a few days! I think this is a sign to bring it back!
Way ahead of your time....I already knew at 13 I was going to go into the beauty business....đâ„ïž
Oh wow, how interesting! Thanks for stopping by our channel!
That was so much fun to watch! You were vlogging before it was cool! Thanks for sharing!!
So cool to see videos of the year i was born! đ
Awesome!! You're an 80's baby, that's cool! Thanks for stopping by our channel. Glad you enjoyed my video :)
I don't know why but women where so much more attractive in the 80s!
13 year olds now a days look like adults lol. I;love how innocent this is... but how did you make this exactly like a CZcams tutorial? Saying the product and everything! Ahead of your time
Thank you! I don't even remember making this video and only recently discovered it among my other home movies. So fun!! It's funny how I was showing the different beauty products and such. I'm sure if CZcams had existed back then, I would have been all over that, lol! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed my video!
đŻđŻđŻđŻ
This is just precious! The makeup brings back so many memories! You were so far ahead of your time! And that hair!!!! We sure loved that poofy, permed mushroom cut didn't we? I love it! â€đ
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed my little blast from the past!
Too cute! What a doll baby you were! I'll bet your parents love seeing these old videos. I knew I do. When I was first doing make up the Cleopatra influence was the rage and the more black stuff you used on your eyes, the better... or so we thought. We looked more spooky than beautiful. Could never master fake lashes which was heartbreaking to me cause I only had about 15 lashes on each eye. So I tried the stick ons and just ended up gluing my eyelids open and one actually stuck to my eyebrow. What I lacked in lashes was made up for in my BUSHY brows. When they would grow into a unibrow my mom would tie me to the kitchen chair and start tweezing. Owies by the hundreds . Beauty is painful. Getting old is a blessing. I may have lots of old age related pains now, but they're nothing like tweezing or teasing hair then getting all the knots out after. Hey! Maybe that's where all these wrinkles come from! War wounds.
God bless and much love! Hope to see more old videos and how about old photos of Keith with some narrative and background music you jammed to in your youth Keith?
Thanks Donna! Yes, these old home movies are quite nostalgic for me, and my parents enjoy watching them too. Most of the time my mom says, "I don't remember you doing that." LOL!! I've never had any luck with fake lashes either, but I honestly think they're more trouble than they're worth. Like you said, sometimes beauty is painful! We'll continue sharing my old movies until they run out, but I've got plenty more that need to be converted to digital. Keith doesn't have as many photos either, but his parents recently gave us a bin of photo albums when they came up for a visit... treasures!
@Donna Adams:. LOL, my mother did the same thing to me, when I was 12 or 13...dragged me into the bathroom, and plucked my eyebrows (early 1980s). I had plenty of eyelashes when I was young - not so many, nowâčïž.
I was born in 87, yet this is giving me hella nostalgia.
What I want to know is why when people try to recreate anything from the 80s, they generally botch it horribly?..
I loved this! You were way ahead of the trends filming this back then
The Cason Family Thanks guys đ
You are SO adorable!
Aww, thank you!!
I was pretty young in the 1980s so I don't have much memories of the hair and makeup of course I do somewhat remember my mom using tones of hairspray for the big hair look lol.
Oh yes, the bigger the better! The ozone layer didn't stand a chance, LOL!!
@@Our80sLife So true.
This is AMAZING đ€© I would consider it as a primary source archive for research into the eighties in the future⊠I was totally on the edge of my seat watching this because of the real-ness of it!! Even the background radio made me feel like l was back then⊠Iâm so jealous just wanted to jump in the video and return back to the eightiesâŠđđ
What a sweet comment, thank you!! đI wish I could travel back in time and jump into this video too, lol! That was such a simple and fun time. I think the only reason I made this video was out of boredom, which was pretty much my only complaint back in the 80s. Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed my video!
Same here (although I was born in 1987), I agree that video like this needs to be preserve for future research, it's very important for future historian(s) that might studies the 80's to have home video like this so they can get a better understanding.
As a guy born in 1996 I can feel the magic and wondrous adventure from this video. :) You were so ahead of your time in the best way possible! Thank you for your wholesome optimistic attitude and everything! :D
love this.l i graduated that year. my ittle sister had that exact dresser. adorable!
WOW!! Thanks for watching my video, glad you enjoyed it! Does she still have the dresser? I actually still use mine- love it!
I love how excited and happy she is to be doing her makeup and hair. So adorable!
I was the same age as you back then. I love the Blooming Colors mascara in hot pink and baby blue. My hair was permed for most of the eighties and I used Vidal Sasson and Jhirmack. Thanks for posting!
Fun memories! I've started looking in the beauty section at the grocery store to see if any of my old favorite brands still exist. Some do! I remember using Aussie Sprunch brand mousse, and I recently rediscovered it... still works great! The best part is when I smell the shampoo or scents I used back then, the memories just come flooding back. Thanks for watching!
Omg how adorable!!!!! I was only 4 then hahahah woow.
You look so beautiful I cried
Aww, you are too sweet! Thanks for watching :)
omg this isnât embarrassing I find this so SUPER cool I love the 80s I wish I grew up in that time I loved watching this video itâs just amazing to watch old videos like thisđâ€ïž
Thank you for your sweet comment!! I definitely think I was lucky to have grown up in the 80's. It was such a fun time! Glad you enjoyed my video :)
This was soooooo cute!!
Haha you really did look like Debbie Gibson!!
I miss the 80s so much. Still so innocent and fun and not much attitude.
Thank you soooooo much!!
Love this!!! Iâll have to try this look sometime đđđ»
GlitterWave80s Thanks!! I wonder if they still make liquid eyeliner and mascara in those vibrant 80âs colors. Letâs bring that back! Thanks for stopping by our channel đ
AKA Our 80's They do! I have purple blue and teal mascarađđ»
GlitterWave80s Cool!
You were a beauty youtuber before it's time!! So sweet! Loved this authentic 80s makeup video
More like a bored teenager, LOL!! Thanks for stopping by our channel and watching my video Chantal. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That was RAD!
Thank you! đ„°
i LOVE watching your footage thx so much for sharing; it gives us a glimpse of life from an era before major technology evolved. iâm a late 90âs kid but have always been obsessed with the 80's, it was such a hip time in pop culture! *feeling like i was born in the wrong decade*
Thanks for watching my video Jasmine! The 80's were truly an amazing time to grow up. I think you're not alone in feeling that way. Long live the 80's!!
Awww! I used to get perms at that age. Was that a perm? Hey guess what - in 87 I was 21 years old. I feel vintage.
Oh yes, I was super into perms back then. Remember how stinky those chemicals were that they put on our hair?! EEK!!
@@Our80sLife I remember that stink! I'll never forget it. Lol!
I'm back again, watching this tutorial. So dang cute!!!
The mascara was colored?!! Omg I had some
Of that in the 90âs! Not sure what brand it was, but I remember a friend of mine gave me some turquoise colored mascara back then. I remember being so disappointed when it show up on my black eye lashes, lol.
1. Liked
2. So glad you found/kept thisđ
3. I know you mentioned you were 13, so whose makeup was this? Mom's, Big Sister?
4. Did they want to kill you for using their stuff or flattered that you watched them enough to know what the products were and how to use them đđđ
5. Your look at the end was just great đđđ
6. Very creative that you thought to record this, very ahead of your time đŻđŻ
Omg this is awesome! And all the different colors back then! Blue liner purple mascara haha love it
Thanks Chris! I miss all the fun colors from the 80s. I remember wearing that blue mascara all the time, ha! đ
You and I are the same age!!
Scrunchies are back in nowđ my daughters want them for Christmasđ
Yes!! This makes me very happy. I still love scrunchies!
I love the video vault! Old school and new school tutorials. The angles and shots are getting very creative, I love it!
Thanks Ryan! Thereâs more where that came from, lol!
Perfect at capturing the look at the time. I wonder if that was a Forenza sweater purchased from Express worn backwards. I had those earrings. I wish I would have saved my clothes and jewelry from that time.
Thank you!! Hmm... not sure about the sweater brand, but I did shop at Express sometimes. I wish I had saved more too! I have some of my jewelry still though. Thanks for stopping by our channel!
Yaaaaaaas gurl!!!
So fierce! Now you should totally do your hair like that now and see if you can follow it!!! - that would be totally RAD!
I'd have to get a perm, LOL!! That hair was crazy! We went through so much hairspray back in the day! Thanks for watching :)
This brought back so many memories
I really love this! This was both funny and adorable! I love the 80âs! Around this time, I was 11.
YM Magazine - omg so much YESSSSS!

Aww, thank you Katlin! Thatâs very sweet of you to say, and Iâm glad you enjoyed my video. đ„°
The original guru!
i love this!
How is it possible that you look younger than me now !? This was so stinking cute ! Way ahead of your time...you could have made it big breaking in to make up tutorials when they first started ;) You have to love all those colors ! ...hehe blue non juicy eyeliner! This seriously was not cringy like you would expect...you were all business :) I did not know how to do half of this when I was 13. This was so fun to see and thank you so much for sharing!
I'm so glad I found your channel! I love it! I was born in 1992 but love everything 1980 - early 90s since I was 12 years old, and haven't looked back since.
Very cool! Welcome to the party!!
This is awesome, love seeing these old videos, so much fun

Thank you!! I really didn't remember making this video, but I'm so glad I did. It's so fun to look back on my early teen years, ha! Oh yes, I went through LOTS of hairspray too! Long live the 80's!! Welcome to our channel :)
@@Our80sLife
'80s was the best for hair. Great tutorial- thank you. If my memory serves me right, that hairspray that you were using looks like the brand Suave. I just thought that particular color of the bottle anywhere. Lol. Salon selectives was good too but that was more of a pinker shade, but it smells so good. Lol! I remember this was during the time when they were trying to convince everybody to move away from the aerosol cans so people switched to the pump hair spray. Still, my sister's and I would use both kinds. Miss those times
Ahhh...memories!! Sophie just said âthat was old school stuffâ. đ
Sheâs right! I had forgotten about all those crazy colors! Even the mascara was purple, lol! đđ
Lol memories. I never used blue eyeshadow but boy did I like the pinks and purples. I wore alot of jelly bracelets. I also back combed and curled my perm lol
Oh yes!! Jelly bracelets were awesome! You had to wear a bunch of them all at once, lol! Perms were so high-maintenance, and remember how stinky they were when you had to wait for them to set, ugh!
Absolutely loved it,
Thanks Arthur! đ
That's a Super cool old Video đ
Thanks Yvonne!
That So Cute Abby !! TFS
lol. i too thought i needed powder, at 13, to even out all the non-existent blemish's...

I love the 80s. You were a cute little girl, and so ahead of time. You should be on Hattebergâs People. He was a photojournalist like Bob Phillips and Charles Kuralt. I hope there are more videos from the 80s in your vault. Thanks for sharing.

YOUR LITTLE VOICE!!!! What a cute video - I loved it!! Was that the actual radio in the background? I heard PRESTONWOOD MALL! That was my husband's favorite mall!!! Oh Abby, not embarrassing at all!! I think it's so awesome - and the fact that you have your home videos from back then is such a treasure!!! I wish I still had the ones we made as kids! So much fun! Thanks for sharing! I totally loved it!
Thanks Verna!! Yes, there was a reference to Prestonwood Mall which makes me so happy since thatâs where I had my first job. I loved that mall! I used to take my lunch break at the food court and watch people ice skate. I used the easy listening channel for the background music of my video, which worked out great until the song ended, ha! I covered over the second song when I edited to prevent copyright issues since it was clearly recognizable (Moon River.) Anyway, this was a fun one. Thanks for your sweet comments. â€ïž
That was such a cute video!
Thanks Anna Family â€ïž
Still cute! đ
That's so nice, thanks Bob!
That is so cool that you have that video from your childhood! Thanks for sharing it! Best regards, JA
