- ♥︎ First time riding a downhill bike! Had to rent a DH bike for Day 2 at Angel Fire. So how did it go? Well... watch on to find out :)
COMMENT! 1 - How do you set up your DH bike? Soft and plush? Air shock? Coil Shock? Do you have the bike shop do it all? Let us know in the comments! 2 - What is your favorite trail at Angel Fire? Or trail featured in the video? 3 - Do you prefer helmet/chin footage, or chest mount footage? I have a preference, but let me know in the comments!
Exciting things to come in the future. Going with a different frame brand, so stay tuned for some bike builds!
If you guys enjoy the video, make sure to like it, and maybe subscribe for more riding and bike videos in the future. Thanks ♥︎

COMMENT! Do ya'll prefer a DH bike or an enduro bike for the park? Me personally... I definitely would have preferred my bike 😆felt a lot more playful than this DH bike.
Chad is a good man !
this man deserves more than he gets
Well thank you 🤠
The bike: it's a rental...what do you expect? Not like it's getting the care your own bike would!
Agreed. That bike just felt tired and worn out 😅
Problem with renting a DH bike is that with all the extra suspension it can awhile to get dialed in enough to have a great time unless you really understand suspension. Even then it can take awhile.
Good stuff man and nice vibe on videos. I myself as new rider (Only half season behind me) am waiting soooo much for next summer. Here in Finland we dont have such massive bikeparks and stuff because our landscape is pretty "flat" scattered with lakes and alot of forests, but there is still good places and the community and culture seems to be groving what ive read around internet. Lets hope good next season for both of us and stay healthy!
New subscriber here for sure!
Thank you very much! Here’s to a good season for you in Finland! 🤠
Good times! Had fun riding with you. Chin mount is better. I think I'd have been happier being on a well set up DH bike instead of my trail bike.
You were shredding on your trail bike man! But yeah, a bit more travel with a well set up bike is awesome at Angel Fire 🤠my first day was great until my frame cracked 😅
A dh bike actually requires a lot of tinkering to get it to feel the way you want it to feel. You should not be blowing through the front travel like. The bikes bb shouldn't that that low either.
Agreed! Absolutely the reason the bike felt that way was because of setup. I believe the fork was a coil fork with how it sounded and felt, so that explains why it would dive through it's travel. The spring weight was not high enough for my big self 😂
@@joebikes I wasnt too happy with the way my bike felt when I first got it and it was always a work in progress. I got it to where I am happy with it like 5 rides later.
Did you ask if they could have given you a different bike ? My protest would have been that I didn’t wanna get hurt. Glad you still had fun tho !
Yes I did, I should have said that to them though, I might have gotten somewhere. They said I couldn’t swop out unfortunately 😅
Shame about the other bike. Nukeproof is a solid brand which makes it surprising that the frame cracked. Bad luck I suppose. I feel like the downhill bike wasn't setup right for you either though I've never ridden one so can't be sure. I think I crashed around where you did on Boogie lol! That trail was really wet that day which didn't help. Wondering if a lot of people from Arkansas travel to this park? I rode up the chairlift with another guy from Arkansas.
Yeah I know! Cracks are unfortunately pretty common in chainstays on most aluminum frame bikes. That’s a common stress point. And yeah a lot of folks from Arkansas ride Angel Fire for sure. It’s probably the closest ski lift bike park for us 🤠 besides Spider Mtn outside Austin.
Sounds like rear tire pressure might have been to low, do you ride tubless before? The spring might have been to stiff for you, and rebound set wrong. The rental shop has to guess what works for everyone. Those are DH race bikes, the aggression and speed for DH bike, not for me either.
I ride a commencial Meta AM. out of the box, at a park, the bike just wants to rip down hill. it pitches faster than I can throw. Another guys have the clash, park oriented, much more poppy and nimble
The front/rear tires were too high actually. The spring rates were definitely wrong for me, way too soft... but also it felt super harsh on the smallest things. That definitely caused my OTB shown in the video... the suspension just dived through all its travel 😆If I rent a bike again, I'll go with an enduro bike with an air shock. Much easier to set those up.
Suspension was definitely not set up correctly. Bummer as I'm sure it kind of ruined the ride. same happedto me first time on a dh bike at snowshoe last year. was my fault for not taking the time to set up the suspension
Agreed. Yeah I could have complained more 😅 I did go over to the shop and talked to them about it. I actually considered just going with an Enduro, but they weren’t receptive to my “yeah it feels bad, can I just get an enduro bike?” comment 😂
@@joebikes 🤣🤣
Good luck with the mega dude
Go get another bike! That cant be the only rental.
Tried to. Their bike shop said I couldn't do that. I should have pushed the issue further for sure 😆
