I lucked out with my Paris apt..it was while ago... friends here in the states owned an apt in the 18th, they even allowed my 2 dogs, apt was great 2bd, nice size... loved my time there..♥️
Note that it is totally illegal for a landlord to ask for more than 1 month's rent in advance. Requiring any some of money in lieu of a guarantor is therefore illegal. I know the reality can be quite different and if you do end up doing this, get an immediate written trace of any funds paid over - on the spot! There are means if obtaining a guarantor through a couple of official means but you need to do this before you start searching. It can sometimes be done within a couple of week but may take longer.
Apartment hunting was suuuuuch a nightmare!!!! Wound up biting the bullet and overpaying for a place via Airbnb to avoid the complications of the general market 😩

Are the apartment prices still high even at this pandemic period? I am planning to move this March 2021 and hopefully the situation will not be as bad. My employer will give me 2 weeks free hotel to find a suitable apartment. Was wondering if that is enough.

kmichalene Of course no problem!! Hm, I’ve only ever found an apartment by being here physically, which I think would be ideal. I’m sure there are people who rent without being on site, but for me personally that would give me anxiety overload 😅 so I would prefer having an agent or someone who could check out the apartment for me before I rent. Also just have to be careful that no one takes advantage of you as a foreigner - has happened to some of my friends here - which is why it could be better to have an agent if you can’t be there. I hope this helps!

Complete rubbish. Black people perceive racism everywhere. I live in Southern France. Lots of African and Arabian people in our town. No sign of any racism anywhere. Maybe you just need to make an effort to learn the language, and lose the racism chip off the shoulders all black people seem to love carrying around with you. God, so angry....don't come if you're just going to carry the prerequisite Racism card. It's a big, big world out there.
