    10:50 Mathematically, when you form fit data to a curve, which is functionally what the rating system is doing, the highest number sets the upper bound of the curve...just like the lowest sets the lower bound...So without a 1000 rated player in the field, women's ratings are being depressed because the upper bound is limited. There is only so high even a -18 round could be rated for a women's field compared to a -18 in a men's field even on the same exact course layout even if you could 100% control for weather and do a perfect apples to apples comparison, assuming you didn't calculate the ratings of all the people together, and separated the ratings by MPO and FPO. If you did that and calculated all the ratings together, the men's ratings would probably come down and the women's would go up, and everyone would have more accurate ratings. That's why women's ratings are lower generally even though yes there is a skill gap, and why players in country xyz have even lower ratings compared to other women who play against more international competition. If you dropped a 1040 rated player into the women's field, every single person would get a higher rating simply because there is a higher upper bound.

    the jump putt rule is stupid as long as the disc is out of ur hand before ur feet hit the ground it should be fine so don't let these people change ur game Kristin

      Exactly! It should be as it is in basketball. -- But as Charlie said: she is (so) open and honest that does not want to win in unfair way. In her place, I would let it be for two last tournaments and after that made a change. But, as she says, it is about me and my responsibility towards myself. - Congratulation for that interview and thank you, Kristin for who and what you are.

      The physics don't even make sense, like...why would you jump at all if the disc has to be out of your hand before you leave the ground. No one who jump putts does this...

    • @margusmagi6703
      @margusmagi6703 Před 3 měsíci

      @@kieronmckay4276 There is no HAVE to. It is a rule made by people, who for some reasons found it reasonable to throw a disc this way as the only way which is justified. That was the case in basketball as well - till jump-shot was invented. - Rules, which were made for early stages of this sport, have served its time. Besides that, there is no "water-proof way" to police the current (jump-shot) rule.

    • @kieronmckay4276
      @kieronmckay4276 Před 3 měsíci

      @@margusmagi6703 I mean the spirit of this rule is so there isn't a person sprinting, jumping and slam dunking the basket. Her jump putt doesn't violate the spirit of that in any way... but if you want to be a purist about it, literally try to jump and release the disc before you leave the ground...like it's impossible because you're not jumping and you could never jump and be legal. You can call that semantics or whatever, but literally a legal jump putt can't exist because you'd just be on your toes and would never leave the ground, or in the air with the disc in your hand. So anyone who jumps and doesn't step putt is breaking the rules, and half the field in every division would be in violation. So without better clarification on what is legal or illegal, just keep doing what you're doing cause no one is going to call you on it, and the internet rabble means nothing.

      @@kieronmckay4276 OK. You have a point to make. However, there are / should be reasons, why that kind of "illegal" jump-puts are allowed. And as it turns out, KT is too honest person, not to correct her way to do that, if it does not follow the rule (fair game). -- What about a) other players and b) DGPT / PDGA?

    I think you solve the jump/step putt problem by having the disc have to leave the hand before your landing/lead foot hits the ground. Gets rid of the gray area, and a lot easier to see when the foot hits the ground vs when it leaves the ground.

    • @samanthony8121
      @samanthony8121 Před 3 měsíci

      That would help jump putts but would make no difference with step putts. Step putters already push that line currently.

    To Charlie E -- You should address "jump-shot issue / problem" to DGPT and PDGA. It is not KT "illegal activity" and she should not be made as scapegoat in terms she herself will change her shot-making but others (FPO and MPO) continue as if nothing had happened. The least what can be said - it is not a fair play at all. It is remarkable, that it became an issue (in "social-media") with KT - the best player, who is NOT from USA! No wonder, she wanted back home as soon as possible.
    However, DGPT and PDGA are in big trouble if they will make a public stance: a) they will give an approval for that kind of "illegal activity" (it is the case de facto anyway) b) they will admit de facto, that they are unable to ensure compliance with the rule. -- What happened in that regard to and with KT is not her personal question! It shows how UNprofessional all that DG-thing is.

    The Buhr spit outs were brutal. I'm not a Gannon fan, but I wouldn't change a thing if I were him. This was, yes on some level a consequence of his putting speed, but for real....incredibly bad luck. It was a good deal worse than the average spit outs you would expect for Gannon's putting speed. It might not ever be that bad again. Don't change a thing, but do accept that there will be some spit outs. If he changes he'll probably miss more. Better to be aggressive and accurate (and take a couple spit outs) than to baby putts and be tentative. He killed in in putting stats last year. Like a record year from circle 2.

    Congrats to Kristin, but ratings are the number 1 thing holding back disc golf from mainstream success. Imagine inviting out some buddies to play who want to play a game, and your handicap system for fair competition is the PDGA ratings system! Lol. Worst idea ever conceived by any sport, especially considering golf figured out a handicap system that works amazingly for amateur competition.

    • @Mdjagg
      @Mdjagg Před 3 měsíci

      @paulfritsch672 If I take out a new player in golf, track a round or two, and know their handicap, we can play competitively the next round by me giving them the appropriate amount of strokes. If that friend beats me, they would likely have way more fun, and likely will want to play more. As it is, you cant play any games with people who are even remotely close and have any parody at all. The better player will always win. Whoever came up with the rating system is only interested in making money and forcing people to pay to play. It's garbage, and anyone who doesn't see that is just nose blind at this point.
