It's rare for an "icon" nowadays to be as respectable as Kristin is. She's a true champion. She inspires me. We're lucky to have her around.
She's not an icon. She's a well known player in a niche sport.
Kristin is truly a role model - her humility, vulnerability, and openness translates to any sport, any profession, femily, and life itself. True feminine power is not overcoming men (or other women), but staying in one's essence and passion. Thanks for this great interview, Jonathan. I think we're all tired of hype.
This is why she had been my favorite FPO player. She is so humble and approachable. To be able to say I'm the best player in the world right now because that's what the numbers and stats say but that could change at anytime. Very powerful and self aware. A true ambassador of the sport.

Disc golf saved my life. I was an expedition kayaker. Had paddled over 2,000 km on one trip. Then I had heart failure at 42 years old.- Dilated Cardiomyopathy. I could not walk up stairs without gasping for air. Through medication and a bit of luck I was able to start walking a km or two. I started disc golfing two years ago and I'm able to play all day long and I even competed in the Canadian Nationals this summer. I have a new lease on life from an amazing sport and wonderful community. Great Ineterview. Love your discs!

That’s wild! I’m in a very similar situation. I have cardiomyopathy caused my myocarditis from the vax. My whole life I’ve been a driven athlete and found myself struggling to get up and walk to the kitchen. Disc golf has given me a goal driven sport to focus my recovery progress on.
Jonathan must be the best interviewer I've seen in a decade! Letting the pauses give Kristin time to elaborate and sharing her inner believes is super professional and rare. GOOD JOB JONATHAN!!!

True champion and just a beautiful person through and through. Disc golf couldn't ask for a better person to represent the sport and the FPO.
This side of her story NEEDS to be told...the rest of us mortals need to hear how human the Champ really is and about her journey to the top. Fantastic video Jonathan and thank you Kristin for sharing. I will be drawing inspiration from this story for the entire 2024 year in all aspects of life.

Kristin is such an admirable person... Her calm demeanor, her serious attitude towards her life and goals, while maintaining the ability to enjoy all the good things that happen in her life, even though she has worked hard for them to achieve. Personally, I can watch her talk all day, because she really has something valuable to teach with everything she says.
Also, big props to you Jonathan for the flow of the interview. Really well edited, great questions and a pleasure to see you switch from focussed and serious to playful and joking. You're one of the best persons to interact with Kristin and recording it on video. There is a really good vibe between the two of you that feels like a relaxed weekend away with friends.

I am sorry to say that, but KT is no way stoic. If you have time and will read just something about stoics views (Fe in Wiki). To be more specific, she says about being #1 for FPO that it is just what happens to her - nothing more.
What a truly lovely person with a pure and sincere heart. People like this are so rare in our world. Here's to hoping she succeeds in all her goals, however unattainable they are to we mortals. I wish more people were like Kristin. I hope I can be more like Kristin myself.

Kristin is such an inspiration. I think for all of us playing disc golf. I am a beginner, and i play with more advanced players, and we all talk about her, her skill, her calm on the course, her smile and just the amazing game she has provided us with this year especially. I'm not crying...I just have something in my eyes. She is what I aspire to be in life and as a disc golfer. Not for all the trophies, but for how she views competition.
Jonathan, thank you for this heartfelt video. Honestly, I was beginning to avoid watching tournaments where Kristin was the leader because I am such a Paige Pierce fan. But after this video, I see how real Kristin is, there is room in my heart for more than one champion. All thanks to you and your other Latitude 64 videos. Thank you and have a great holiday season.
KT is not just real and down to earth, she is a person who is able to have a look at herself (that needs a lot of work with yourself - to become a really (!) grown up person). So in that sense she is truly one whole human being who can determine its own destiny. -- I would recommend to watch Upshot and what Charlie is saying about her regarding her Grand slam achievement.

Kristin, I do not know if you will see this message I am writing. I hope you will have the chance to read it. I am simply one of the many volunteers that helped with crowd control and other things at the world championships that were in Utah (the one that was delayed a year due to COVID). I did not know who many of the professionals were, but I had watched a lot of events on CZcams (through channels like Jomez). I saw that you were the lone player from outside the USA, that you had traveled all the way from Estonia for that championship event. That level of dedication from you impressed me. Then, seeing how you were far and away the best player in 2023 was wonderful. You have my respect for your hard work. I was very glad to listen to you in this video and hear that you are so genuine and are not arrogant -- you have achieved excellence but have kept good perspective and you want to help others. I felt the great sincerity you had when you spoke in this video, and it made me appreciate you even more as a person. I wish you ongoing success and happiness in your personal life.

Kristin just totally rocks. On so many levels. I''ve told my disc pals about her (they all fawn over the top men players, of course) and then they look into her and next time I see them it is always "holy crap, she is just fantastic! On so many levels". And of course, they immediately go out and buy Latitude 64 discs !

I've never spent money on disc golf as fast as I just did. Kristin seems like such a down to earth person who deserves nothing but all the success she has earned. The discs look INCREDIBLE and are all the molds from Lat64 that I bag and none of the ones I don't. Easiest money I've ever spent.

Its such a tough thing going from being able to do sport at a high level and then your body giving up on you. I played sport at a very high level until my 20s and got a heart condition after an illness and was told I would never be able to do it at the level I could so I felt that in my heart when she spoke of that 💔 such a lovely interview with 2 lovely souls

She is so amazingly skillful. Maybe in an alternate universe she would be a gold medalist in some other precision sport like archery. Certainly disc golf is a very low impact sport compared to cross country skiing.
The sweetheart of woman's disc golf league. I have an identical twin brother and we were very competitive in life. He took up snow skiing and I took up Karate, scuba diving and windsurfing. He bought a Toyota SUV and I bought a Honda SUV. Even at 70 years old, we still argue over who's the best.
This came up after watching Paige Pierce's video. So pleased to hear her speak. Great decision on your part to keep things simple. Thanks a million.

Just to chime in and agree with everybody else, this is an absolutely amazing interview. The humanity and realness is so rare to see these days. I only started playing Disc Golf this year, fell in love with it from the get go, and Kristin is my my definite favourite along Simon Lizotte. I only play for fun, trying to better myself of course, but the way these two carry themselves inspires so much. I entered the national amateur championships in Denmark, after only having played for 3 months, and finished dead last. I still loved the enviroment and cammeraderie in the sport. I have improved tremendesously (also thanks to great videos as here on Lat64), and have a signature KT Grace, which I really hope I can learn to throw properly in 2024... Good Wind to y'all as we say in these part. Thank you Jonathan, Kristin and everyone who makes this awesome endevour something human and worthwhile
Fantastic video. I think Kristin is a very special person inside and I always love watching her play. I am sixty five years old and started throwing discs two years ago as a physical therapy to recover from two vertigo surgeries. My son thought I would enjoy it (he has played for twenty years) and it would be good for my recovery... I have become hopelessly addicted to it, and want to play every day.

Awesome year for Kristin. For me 2023 has been a nightmare disc golf wise having been forced to switch to throwing lefty after having a shoulder injury for years. Surgery made it worse so now I''m stuck with only left hand backhand and let me tell you, putting is HARD with your "wrong" hand 😅
