At 14:22 into the video, impact of the ton of bouncy balls on the suspended arena floor acted like a timpani mallet striking a timpani head.. The instant vibration of the floor generated a Chladni resonance wave, aligning the mass of balls into a Chladni mode pattern. If you dropped more balls, they would have aligned into a much larger Chladni pattern encompassing all of the arena floor. Your experiment generated music from the arena floor and turned it into the world's largest timpani.

For the basket balls. If you watch the slowmo carefully, 3 of them actually went in. One slid out through a opening in the netting.

Hats of to the RAC arena engineers for realising that 1.2 tons is a lot of weight by itself, never mind on impact from the arena roof. The fact I didn't hear about this in the news a couple months ago shows that an ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure.
I’m curious how they modeled this for their calculations.
@@cameronwebster6866 I have forgotten the exact calculation, but iirc if you multiply the weigt by the hight you should get the speed and the you can calculate the weight of what all of them hitting the ground at once would be (Of course they're not all at once, but better safe than sorry). Then they have to include all that weight hitting a rather small area.
Then all they have to do is compare how much it is with what the floor can hold and make sure it's not at the very end of possible safety.
I know it's not precise and I invite anyone who knows more about this than me to put in their two cents.

It looked like 4 to me. The first which stayed, a blue which got pushed in then foreced out, a yellow and blue which went in and right out, then the blue that stayed in.

The second drop didn't expand as much, or have as much mass go back into the air. Fascinating, the bulk just flattened out, but transferred energy to the top layer and they got more hangtime.

That was awesome. It's great that they let you guys do this crazy stuff and were willing to get the engineer involved and make accommodations. Most places would just flat out say no and that's the end of that.
They get the chance to do it because they're Mates with the Technical Operations Manager. There's also been SAS Army training in the venue, fire-fighters train their for high rise rescue work, and they've even had terrorist attack simulations where fully armed TRG Operators carry out training ops 🤷♂️
When you guys do cleanup in a venue like this, are you required to do it perfectly (i.e. did you count to make sure you got every single bouncy ball) or do the facilities not mind if 10 years from now someone finds a straggler bouncy ball under a bleacher? 😂
The arena should require them to LEAVE some bouncy balls then have a giant easter egg hunt, a few $ per ticket to get inside and hunters get to keep all balls, profits go to charity, 😆
It's very easy to clean a stadium . As long as the doors are closed you just Start in one corner and make your way round each section from the top down and pick up everything you see . With a team of people you can fully deep clean a stadium in just over 3-4 hours .

I think the reinforcements in the car park suppressed the energy of the bouncy balls to bounce back up like they did the first time. I liked the first drop better lol. It was extremely satisfying.
