Some don’t understand that parts of this film are SUPPOSED TO BE uncomfortable and awkward to watch. It’s not only giving you insight on the beauty that Van Gogh desperately wanted to show the world but also the torment and confusion that he experienced. The cinematography of this film was risky, vibrant and at times over ambitious but man, this film is one big, beautiful frustration in the best way possible. RIP Vincènt Van Gogh
It never felt uncomfortable, awkward or frustrating to me. I thought it was pretty much perfect. Haha
I can watch this movie everyday, because I feel I'm already there, because of the unique cinematography
The wobbly camera was a problem for me too at the start, but then I realized that it got worse as his madness did! As a matter of fact, it s at its worst in the beginning of the film and in fact it really makes you dive in Gogh's psychology and his perception of the world. In the end I really appreciated At Eternity's Gate and DaFoe's performance was excellent. He's such a unique and special actor.
This film had such an incredibly unique style 👊🏻
No one:
Benoit : I wanted the camera to be like a brush! I wanted to find shots spontaneously
Focus Puller : OH GOD, SAVE ME!
Underrated comment focus pulling is a nightmare.
I enjoy watching this as it shows the process and opens up more of my imaginations.
This is a Masterpiece!!!
Bought it & absolutely love it!
I love his work
love it!!! Great work !
fantastic space for learning thank you !
Great! I had been waiting for it!
You just got a huge shout out from Mumbo Jumbo. And here we are. Awesome!
Great thank you
I Have been waiting for years waiting for another great movie of Vincent . Bless Him. i Havent seen it yet i think Dafoe will do Vincent Proud i am sure.
Schnabel opened the Terrence Malick colouring book.
I feel that putting State of mind into colors would work much better than wobbly camera.
0:14 Superman 🦸♂️without trunks tho
watched this movie yesterday, cried 5 times
Glad I’m not the only one that cried profusely watching this movie
@@cuteashley46 i have never been that connected with a performance, William dafoe is the greatest, Gogh was a genius. Complete water works 10/10 experience.
SACRE BLEU WHERE IS MY BERET?
But being serious I was interested in the experimental look of this film when I saw it. Nice to see this bts interview on how they did it.
which lens have they used to film this?
Specsavers...
5:44 Louis Theroux?
Van Gogh's death was a contradictory to the history books.
Was it? In the movie van gogh didn't confirm how he was shot. When they asked him what happened he said he didn't know. I think this was an artistic decision as you saw the alternative theory but van gogh concludes the event with uncertainty; the motif of his whole life.
I spent all my life alone in a room...
i don't understand half of what he's saying (subtitles would be useful). but still, it's very edifying and inspirational
You have to watch this on 750ug of acid .... trust me
The wobbly camera work was the worst part of this otherwise great film and allot of times downright distracting.
Not distracting for me...for me it gives what you see a sense of how such strong desire and emotion can make life not neat and clean.
Like the live impact from an emotional event
It's not neat.
I completely agree. it just made me super aware that there was a cameraman in their face. for me it didn’t work as a metaphor for what’s going on in Vincents head. that would be a POV shot. This is from a third person watching. it just looked like a teenager videotaping and it took me out of the action.
This guy sounds a bit arrogant
I didn't feel like that. He loves so much what he has shot that when he talks about it, it seems to be praising himself; that's the attitude of a passionate guy not an arrogant one
I think that's just a stereotype associated with the French-English Accent. He sounds very passionate
He’s French
It's a confidence, when you make a film, especially with stars like these you need confidence to do the job behind the camera as best you can to a time limit and he has that, as will the director and everyone else behind camera. They would have to, even if the results aren't perfect, they'll need to handle the feedback on their work too.
That is a troll comment.
Terrible movie
Care to explain?
