Last line is real film making gold, ..do what feels right, and you can come up with the logic for it.
Bradford explains bouncing and fill techniques, and really cinematography in general, so effortlessly. These videos taught me more than I've learned the last 5 years combined.
It's crazy how all these amazing DP:s make it look and sound so easy
Bradford Young? I know you probably won’t see this but you’ve given this guys from Baltimore the courage to pursue his dreams and to be bold - experiment in my craft. I thank you.
I like what he said about lighting with VFX. No, it's not natural, but neither is using a giant 12x12.
Bradford Young, my fav DP!
"Don't question your instincts". So true.
Thanks Bradford, thanks Cooke. We love these!
So much love for Bradford Young.
Arrival is a near perfect movie. Thank you for your wisdom.
I love his style of lighting. Very subtle very beautiful.
Brad is a genius! Always has been. We had MANY spirited debates with each other while in school together lol but what stood out the most about him to me is that we had a mutual appreciation for the arts - whether music, film, etc.
Wow. Simple. Powerful. Thank you for creating content like this.
Thanks again guys! Keep posting this tips pieces please. Super useful and interesting!
Brad my guy simple but creative photographer
Awesome DP. Very inspiring.
He has been added to my hero list officially!
"Do what feels right, and you can come up with the logic for it."
That's not just good advice for cinematography, it's good advice for life :)
One of my favorites so far
The man knows his stuff
Wonderful!
My new favourite DP
LOVE THE LIGHT IN "Arrival" sir!
more of these tips please xxxx
Thank you, well said. Cheers!
He lights for a darkened theater, in the brave tradition of Gordon Willis and Harris Savides.
wow thanks so much for this
Brilliant
Salute!
He is my current favorite DP
Insightful
Biggest problem hound DPs and Gaffers run into is not understanding how simple setups can actually be. Getting hands on fancy new toys can really make you want to use everything.
very interesting
Awesome feature, and a DP to keep an eye out for. But, alas, Cooke Optics, it's "you're lighting it so you..." not "your"!
cooke is interviewing about lighting?
hey it's all good with me bud.👍
Gloomy and underlit!
1:32
wait... that's just Asteras hanging down? With not much cover and decorations?
Great info but the audio levels were all over the place.
I wish his interview shot had negative fill lol
Imagine working on camera team under the genius of BY.
3:15 - *you're*
"...your lighting it so you can do whatever you want..." (3:09) Seriously Cooke? You can't spell "you're?" Nobody old enough to be posting here should be making this kind of embarrassing mistake. And to do it on a corporate channel... sad.
MOST these shots look the same....nice soft light on one side of the face the other side darker. add a hair light....t I bet if all of you in the comments section had access to 20 kinoflo 4x4s , several; arri 10c s and a go pro you can get shots that looks good as this.
Love Young; hate nose rings.
