99.72% to Castle Age when the TC went down... That was wild!!
I was hoping he would have walled of that treeline earlier.. he would have made that castle if he did that
@@johnnyslokes2712 i dont think castle age would make any difference for gray anyway
I can’t believe grey didn’t even try to repair. Almost closed the vid out of second hand frustration 😂
@@jackson9415 Seriously, like, bruh, what is grey currently doing that's so focus-intensive he can't have a single villager repair? He even has plenty of wood! What ELO do you have to be to not realize you can repair your buildings? oof
@@ShieldEntertainment Somewhere around your ELO
Ridiculously tiny maps is almost a tradition in Age of Mythology. They're so small compared to the space you need that its nearly unplayable. Its great. If you are on a map that gives you extra buildings at the start, there's a good chance they'll be closer to another player's town center than your own.
Glad to see the AOM clan coming out on this one.
Used to play those extreme small maps, infinite resources and just go crazy. Good times.
Bruh don't remind me of the nightmarish priest spam. It cost me many nights of sleep.
Haha. Fun maps unless you fight against gaia
Yes!! My favorite game
Red almost feels like he forgot about the countdown timer. He was so focused on orange by the end but if he actually built up a little military I think he could have pushed teal out.
Plus he had a barracks that had units in it, yet never sent them after the knights.
True
It felt like he was playing another game at the same time.
36:54 "I think Jon has already accepted that there's a special place in forest nothing hell for him." - I almost want to make that my voicemail.
No wonder thou werts victorious.
Jon is not scared of hell because he’s the devil himself.
I feel huns would be really good for this map - not needing space for houses would be really strong
In normal forest nothing games they're strong for economy but terrible for rushing. They can only destroy trees with Trebuchets. So in our games if someone pick Huns they just send tributes to other allies.
@@cothfi I had not considered they couldn't knock down trees in any meaningful way.
@@cothfi, or an ally has to send an onager to open a path for them.
@@jordansmith4040Yet for this map that doesn't matter. We can see towers are op. Chopping wood should be all you need!
@@walthzer6910 so a civ with a woodchopping bonus
You should try making a "Tiny" event in the Age of Mythology style.
It'd be a 4 players completely empty map, everyone with infinite resources, but the fun part is that the map is basically a square which side is large 4 adjacent TCs
Whoever plants a big building smack-dab in the center wins by choking everyone out of space.
@@bare_bear_hands that's not a realistic prospect. By the time you reach castle age the space is already contested with houses and military buildings. Space management in that mode is key.
Small buildings such as towers are actually way better
@@sephirothbahamut245 it's still whoever puts a tower down in the middle, the reason aoe2 is so good is because the random map forces unique play. If we eliminate all map features and all economy challenges then it's whoever micros the hardest and gets the middle first
@@MrHeorhe Age of Mythology also has random maps, but this mode still became very popular in that community. You might as well say economic management is what makes AoE 2 so good, and yet Castle Blood and other such games modes exist on it.
@@MrHeorhe I guess you've never heard of a small game called Starcraft. Microing and strategizing better than your opponent is interesting gameplay. Small choices early on can have large affects a couple minutes later.
Thanks to Bontino and Stevesplinter for staying to the end, giving us more fun content, despite basically losing the game very early
Imagine what they could have accomplished with trade through a double gate.
The most aggressive Forest Nothing map yet!
Still somehow feels like trying to whisper the loudest.
Man, I remember Forest Nothing. I was a fan and watching back from some OG Spirit of the Law vids, back when you were thinking of moving to NC. That video and the concept really revolutionized the AoEII youtube space and brought fresh light into approaching the game. I would even hazard to say that it is because of you, along with some of the other prominent creators from all that time ago, that the game has been picked back up into development and updates. Thanks, Tristan. Was a pleasure meeting you at Boxcar.
yes the meme maps, caster jokes and weird noob gameplay really created something special there
The tc not firing arrows actually made it more punishing, as there was no defense against a runaway player like teal.
I think they did that because the map is so small the TC's would constantly fire on adjacent enemy woodlines and enemy houses and the games would stall out.
@@JWonn the TC would only fire if you garrison, which would provide an incentive to not abuse the TC fire too much
I think not because mangos outrange TCs anyway
It seems like setting their range to 1 might be better. They could still defend a direct attack and passing enemies, but it couldn’t harass opposing wood lines.
@@SaskatchewanSteve, I think they could do it to all structures, with the towers and castles getting the normal +1 increase with the upgrades.
I love the minimalism of this. Host more games on this map.
Steve and Bontino are the best part of this video, haha! Thanks for the cast.
Red's mining camp actually made sense. You need to build 2 dark age buildings at the same time before advancing. And mill, lumber camp and mining camp all cost the same. So if you wre gonna delete it anyways then it makes no difference.
However deleting the villager probably didn't xD
I never watched RTS games on CZcams but played AoE2 back in the day.
Suddenly out of nowhere a grand final between Viper and someone else who won the first map and had a crazy 2nd or 3rd map but Viper still won, thats how I found this channel
This game was a condensed account of human history. 😢
yeah dude like how Lithuania rules the world
@@grainassault4844 more like how the biggest asshole wins
Palestine simulator
The minimap is so zoomed in that you can see individual trees 😂
Jon had the strategy. It would be interesting to see this played again a little while later after people figure it out more
Shulker is a Legend for attacking that tower
6:40 It was the first Forest Nothing got me into your channel and the first Hidden Cup that hooked me.
Also, teal chatting just to himself for us spectators to see was epic.
Suggestion: instead of taking away the TC arrows, make all structures have 1 range with the upgrades working as usual (towers and castles increase range with upgrades).
I don't remember what brought me to T90s channel.
But I do remember what brought me to the game.
My childhood friend friend was describing the "new" game. It had villagers and you collect wood and berries. Take the resources back to the Town Centre.....
I thought it was played in first person. 😂
And all these years later, that thought has been rendered a reality
I remember there was a battle of the empire games.
Empire Eath, AOE and Empire Strategy? I think it was called.
Obviously, this made you pick your team for AOE2.
Once Gray broke through they should have immediately chopped a tree at each corner of the monument and built towers
Forcing ALL the other players to gang up against him...
And have the entire map gang up after him.
It DID seem like they had no further plans after reaching middle though...
What brought to T90, year was 2019 and I was starting college. I was in class and thought that would be fun to play AoE2 and that I should install it when I get home. After class while I was on break I figured I'd watch youtube. The first video that popped up was a T90 video and was kind of freaked out since I had not said the name out loud, did not talk to anyone about wanting to play it, I had never searched the game on youtube either. I was freaked out but opened it anyway. Guess I'll thank the government spying on my thoughts and recommending this channel
Weirdly enough I came through your content while looking up AOE2 campaign playthroughs cause I was struggling with one of them, stuck around for the commentary and found out about the AOE2 community in general as a result lmao
It's... Beautiful.
My first was forrest nothing. And I dont regret anything.
Jon knew the minimeta
minimeta lmao
I wonder how a "gold nothing" map would work on such a tiny map (with just enough starting food to build a market, or with starting with a market)
I can't remember what brought me to T90, but the earliest video I remember watching was Snippy on Texas and Daves Fun house vids.
Surprisingly this was really exciting to watch! Really weird and interesting dynamics. Two mangonels going down feels like two aircraft carriers sunk. Thank you and more please! :D
This is hilarious but I love the different dynamic, I really want to see a diplo version of this so badly now
enter the space age and build a photon cannon, you may need a pylon, perhaps even an additional one
Ah the devs played with the size of the tree stumps? That explains why klicking wood feels weird lately
That was such fun game to watch. I like that we had a great overview the whole time!
Probably too late to suggest an idea but would it be possible to split the map with walls into a 3x3 Tic-Tac-Toe board? 1v1 where each player starts in opposite corners with some resources, but in the other squares there are monuments or something to capture, but they have to capture three in a row (and the home square counts as their own).
They would actually get a good amount of gold. Trade carts are based on the percentage of maps traveled.
The first videos of yours I remember watching are things like "The legend of...", especially FatSlob, Hoang and Blue Coffee. Truly legends, titles did not lie.
Thank you Tristan, you are the cornerstone of the AoE2 community
CZcams randomly recommended to me "The Legend of Simple Joe" and it made me buy the game :)) That was I think 2 or 3 weeks ago. The story was sooo good. Found other fun videos, funny they are not the most popular ones on the channel. 4v4 no farms was also a blast.
The random video recommendation for me was "1,793 Crossbows" which was absolutely hilarious.
15:20 lol That mining camp mistake followed by that villager kill 😂
T90: the stories come naturally
T90: I got second place in the spelling bee
I think this would work best (or at least more competitively) with only 4 players instead of 8. As is, the first two people to Feudal can tower 2 neighbors, effectively neutralizing up to 4 players anyway.
I love how Jon was pushing himself with these textmassages in the beginning
The video that brought me to the channel was that really nice one you made a while back. Such a good replay.
The original legend of corner boy vid was what got me into the channel personally
Tiny is a fan favorite in Age of Mythology. Infinite resources, but very limited space.
C scraggy
I discovered this channel through watching Hera play. I found him by looking for skilled players after getting back into the game. Stayed because you guys seem to have fun here and the narration is on point.
There are so few trees on this map, you might as well call it "Straggler Tree Nothing", 11
16:30
the villager that messed that up needed to die for his mistake.
truly a good manager who recognizes this.
*Tinest Map Ever
*Cutest Map Ever
Crazy that this still lasted more than an hour.
well countdown alone is 35 minutes
What initially brought me back to AoE2 was an old ZeroEmpires' upload which featured some real funny islands game and I think ended up as his most viewed one. Years later I rewatched it and LEL started to pop up in my recommended and here I am.
The legend of Wall is how I found this channel, I absolutely forgot about this game and how much I loved to play it. I would spend hours playing as a kid, one of my first games my dad gave me. I just recently got back into it and has helped me cope with a lot that had been going on in my life, so thank you
First video I discovered of this channel was the first "I sit" vid and is still one of my favorites
Lydia has hilarious savage energy.
Your extras channel is what I first saw of you and then found your main. I really enjoy the full cast on your extra channel the most.
Jon with the 4th wall break 😂
Steve: you killed half my eco!
Jon: *oh i would never*
Definitely do the biggest possible map with exploding vils but they explode in between kings and vils
I hope he does, 'enormous' maps are actually a lot of fun to play, not sure how fun to cast though.
Jon has obviously played these settings a few times and knows an exact build order
Low Elo legends is what really drew me in. As a fellow 800 king, it always makes me laugh to see you try and explain some of the hilariously bad things people do.
I honestly can't remember what video bought me to your channel, I havn't played aoe2 in YEARS but I LOVE the game to death and I love watching your videos. You are one of my favorite people on the internet bro , so kind and genuine, thanks for your work with the videos mate.
I love Jon narrating his game for us in a solo chat room.
watching these casts is difficult with how neutral the cursor is. Love your content man
The lumber camp probably was there to develop some tree cutting skills. It was deleted shortly afterwards.
Can't remember which video brought me here. I just remember this being my favorite game as a young chap and I must have stumbled across your channel and I was shocked there was still content being made. Hats off sir.
This ridiculously small sized map is my nightmare. This was stressful to watch!
What brought me in was my therapist suggesting to watch videos to help with sleeping at night.
I really appreciated the humor from all the players lol
That was a great idea. Very fun to watch
Awesome rainy sunday to spend 1:07:08 in total mental coma watching villagers chop trees
I remember watching as one of those 75 people yeaaaaars ago! Surprised to see you pop back up as a recommend and even more shocked I never subbed back in the day. I remember watching all the fun matchups, they were always fun and relaxing to watch even if I never got what was going on haha.
Knife fight in a phone booth.
i did stuff like this back in warcraft 2. tiniest map possible, only a town hall and space for a gold mine, nothing else. it was fun.
13:36 Zilverdwerg actually got the bet right. He only noticed at 42 ingame minutes OMG
I think the best strategy in this FN with monument and ultra tiny map is the following:
1) pick Celts
2) chop a square in the direction of the monument
3) build a house, go up to 5 vils, delete the house
4) send 1 villager to chop the sides of you TC and micro the other 4 vils as they continue chopping in the direction of the monument (2 vils chopping one tree so they won't bump)
5) you soon will end with a rectangle 3x2 of free space in the direction of the monument: now build a lumbercamp locking your 4 vils in that 2x1 space
6) continue chopping (with micro) in the direction of the monument
7) every 6 trees you end with another 3x2 free space rectangle: repeat points 5 and 6
8) you end at the monument with the best possible time advantage over the other players, starting the countdown and getting wood (not so important but still something)
9) continue (or better, "start") the game with the most common strats for FN just trying to hold until you win by time
T90's first forest nothing video was what introduced me to aoe2. And to this day i still love watching the nothing maps.
I am not fully convinced Jon didn't have the stream open, the way he seemed to be reacting to your comments every now and then.
I can assure you it was just awkward timing! If you look, I (Hi! I'm Jon!) was making little comments all through the game about things T90 hadn't talked about, ie: at 1:40 czcams.com/video/t40VJo3eGwU/video.html
A lot of my comments were just whenever I noticed them, too, like all my trapped knights when I noticed them. I actually wasn't sure if T90 would have seen them by then or not. I was trying to be sassy in the moment and not throw away a considerable lead, but it definitely comes out during re-watching as if I was trying to have a 2 minute delayed conversation. :(
@@Jz4p no
Your game when the mini-map is the map.
Suggestion for a mini series with this "mini-map" map:- TCs can fire arrows and only 4 players in one round. Then the top 2 scores at the end of the round progress. After two rounds we have 4 players who play one final.
Orange managed to save those young couples! Excellent achievement! I was so happy to hear that
The fact you read that guys name as the mysticals made me rage so hard XD
As to what brought me to your channel - it was Forest Nothing and the Legend of Fatslob
Low Elo Legends brought me to your channel, I started with Bronze League Heroes in SC2 and got recommended some AOE II one day and thought "why not". Now its my 2nd or 3rd most watched game across videos like this, strategy videos and tournament play.
It was a video of Pestily playing with Welyn, and AquaFPS doing a 1v3 against Hera is what brought me to your channel
The first video of yours the algorithm put on my front page was an exploding kings match. And I've been hooked ever since.
8 people sign up for a knife fight in a telephone booth and get upset at early aggression.
The first video I ever watched was TLO iSit through recommended on March 10th.
But the next video I watched, TLO Simple Joe is what really made me a fan and got me to stick around.
I haven't even played AoE, but will probably be purchasing it while its on sale because of the channel.
6:50 It was either a Forest Nothing or Low Elo Legends video for me.
I believe the first video that got me into your channel was the legend of fatslob. I continue to be a fan of your channel and the immense creativity of players ever since.
So funny! "We will get banking, and give you more gold" Haha!

ÆUGH!
The LELs got me into the channel.
The LELs got me watching T90, but I only watch community games now.
Tiny maps are pure potencial! Makes AoE2 matches as fast as AoE3's
15:36 I feel like @t90's Cursor wiped out that vili haha
Chat talking about the Tinest typo for 30 minutes was so funny at times!!
Every few months these videos get recommended to me and each one is better than the last
I can't recall which video it was specifically, but one of your pro level tournament casts was my introduction to competitive AOE2 and got me back into the game after having played it as a kid.
hey, THIS is the video that brought me to your channel! 6:50
