That verse was released in the context of war where the Muslims where being killed after there was a treaty made between the Muslim and the non-Muslims. The non-Muslims broke that treaty and were killing the Muslims. This verse was revealed allowing the Muslims to defend themselves.
I don't know why people do not care about looking into things to then come out as if they were a scholar in the subject. They should speak and tell the truth like their religion tells them to or keep their mouth shut before people among them learn the truth and leave their falsehood for the correct religion.

The problem is that we know too well that we can't explain everything to everyone
99% of them were born into it. It is the required religion of their country, and they know nothing else. In recent times some who went to Lebanon were able to hear Christianity and get saved. More recently many have immigrated to western countries (8 Mill in US since Obama) and they are able to access the internet freely and look into Christianity but most wont for fear of shirk (while not realizing theyre committing it by following an idol;false god).
The dad thing is for millions it was never a choice. Simply something they were born into and if they leave, they risk their lives and family's disowning them

13 Moses, Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp. 14 Moses was angry with the officers of the army-the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds-who returned from the battle.
15 “Have you allowed all the women to live?” he asked them. 16 “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
19 “Anyone who has killed someone or touched someone who was killed must stay outside the camp seven days. On the third and seventh days you must purify yourselves and your captives. 20 Purify every garment as well as everything made of leather, goat hair or wood.”
21 Then Eleazar the priest said to the soldiers who had gone into battle, “This is what is required by the law that the Lord gave Moses: 22 Gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, lead 23 and anything else that can withstand fire must be put through the fire, and then it will be clean. But it must also be purified with the water of cleansing. And whatever cannot withstand fire must be put through that water. 24 On the seventh day wash your clothes and you will be clean. Then you may come into the camp.”
Dividing the Spoils
25 The Lord said to Moses, 26 “You and Eleazar the priest and the family heads of the community are to count all the people and animals that were captured. 27 Divide the spoils equally between the soldiers who took part in the battle and the rest of the community. 28 From the soldiers who fought in the battle, set apart as tribute for the Lord one out of every five hundred, whether people, cattle, donkeys or sheep. 29 Take this tribute from their half share and give it to Eleazar the priest as the Lord’s part. 30 From the Israelites’ half, select one out of every fifty, whether people, cattle, donkeys, sheep or other animals. Give them to the Levites, who are responsible for the care of the Lord’s tabernacle.” 31 So Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.
32 The plunder remaining from the spoils that the soldiers took was 675,000 sheep, 33 72,000 cattle, 34 61,000 donkeys 35 and 32,000 women who had never slept with a man.
36 The half share of those who fought in the battle was:
337,500 sheep, 37 of which the tribute for the Lord was 675;
38 36,000 cattle, of which the tribute for the Lord was 72;
39 30,500 donkeys, of which the tribute for the Lord was 61;
40 16,000 people, of whom the tribute for the Lord was 32.
41 Moses gave the tribute to Eleazar the priest as the Lord’s part, as the Lord commanded Moses.
42 The half belonging to the Israelites, which Moses set apart from that of the fighting men- 43 the community’s half-was 337,500 sheep, 44 36,000 cattle, 45 30,500 donkeys 46 and 16,000 people. 47 From the Israelites’ half, Moses selected one out of every fifty people and animals, as the Lord commanded him, and gave them to the Levites, who were responsible for the care of the Lord’s tabernacle.

But the problem is that, while on a cultural level Christians have now moved away from violence (and that wasn't historically always the case, for instance see the crusades, but is so now), there is clearly currently a deep rooted cultural and ideological embrace of violence in Muslim dominated countries. Just look up the statistics about how every non-Muslim minority community has been decimated in recent decades. After coexisting for centuries. I don't know what changed but something did. Not all individual Muslims are violent, and I don't think that the religion itself necessitates violence, but clearly, as things are, for whatever cultural or ideological reasons, somethnig has gone wrong.

Hello Young lady! Please read sure 9, verse 29. Either you stop discussing things you are not aware about, or you better stop calling yourself to be a muslim. I m sure, you are a peaceful and nice person. The man is fully right. There are more than 100 verses that calls to kill or to discriminate non-muslims.
surah 9 verse 29 speaks about killing those who dont pay the jizya, jizya is tax non-mulsims pay Since, they would be living there as citizens of a Muslim state, the protection of their life, property and honor will be the responsibility of the Islamic government and no hindrance will be placed in the observance of their religious duties, And the jizya was less then the zakat the muslims had to pay, So when you think about its a fair deal cuz the non-muslim can live knowing that they are safe sicen the muslim army is protecting them and theycan practise their religion aswell as it cheaper then what the muslims have to pay .

God then told Lot to leave because these cities were to be destroyed, but because of His promise to Abraham, He could do nothing while Lot was there. God is not arbitrary or random with His judgments. He gives all nations time to repent. He spared Nineveh in the Book of Jonah when they repented of their sins. Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian Empire, infamous for their atrocities.

Their people were rebellious against God, and their attack on Israel was the seal on their destruction. It was just like the destruction of Jericho. Anything that was considered defiled by God was to be destroyed. This is God's judgment. Something he has the right to do as creator of the world. The Amalekites hade free will. They could have let the Israelites pass and follow God's law. They chose to be pagan. This is the consequence. Sin has consequences. Actually, read the Bible instead of cherry-picking events without context.

The trouble is that it’s down to interpretation and yes some Muslims will interpret it in a nonviolent way, but thats their interpretation, many will interpret it in a violent way. So how is one muslim right and the other wrong if it is a matter of choice.
Jesus was unambiguous about rejecting violence, and so if a Muslim accepts Jesus, then they must reject those verses in the Quran that can have violent interpretations.

There are for sure two kinds of Muslims ones that do not know their book and ones that do know front and back. The ones that don't they go by what they were told growing up by their parents, aunts, etc. the very basics of Islam wear Hijab, eat Hala, do Ramadan, pray 5 times a day etc. NOT ONE person tells them all the other things that comes with Islam. They do not even know their own book and they get so surprised! when you even read verses from their book like this young lady. And they make excuses or try to cover it up. I've dated a Muslim and have neighbors that I am acquainted with that are Muslim. One conversation I had with a Muslim similar to this when I read a few verses in the Quran to answer a question he had and was shocked even denied it he told me Muhammad must of made an error or mistake when I read him a verse (that he could also read for himself in his Quran at home), one how can you trust a book that is your faith if there are errors in it? and how can it be an error when the Quran been out how many years. And that was not the only verse so many more he didn't agree with. The Lord will have mercy on the ones that are against and do not follow the demonic ways of Islam and have a pure heart, not have any hate in their heart to towards anyone including Christians. The previous verse explains His guidance towards the polytheists, so this verse turns to the People of the Book who want to fight the believers. The context of this verse relates to the Battle of Tabuk. At that time there was news that the Roman troops would attack and try to control the border area, so this verse came down as an order to fight them
