- The Tony Mundine Elouera Gym was opened in Redfern in 1984, in one of Australia’s most troubled and notorious inner city areas, known as "The Block". The gym was opened to help keep the local kids off the streets and provide a sense of community and positivity to the local residents.
It is one of the last remaining old school style gyms in Australia and has trained several world champions and impacted countless lives. It officially closed down in late 2016 and is due for demolition in 2018.
Tony Mundine is an Australian former boxer, and one of the country's most accomplished indigenous fighters. The only Australian boxer to compete professionally in four weight divisions, he held the Australian middleweight, light heavyweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight titles, as well as the Commonwealth middleweight and light heavyweight titles. He is the father of former world champion boxer Anthony Mundine and was the 2005 Inductee for the Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame Moderns category.

Tony was probably the most gifted fighter to ever come out of Australia.
Him and his son have done a shit load for their communities, we need more people like him
Just saw this short film for the first time. I used to buy Fighter Magazine back when Boxing in Australia was at an all-time level of popularity in Australia. Fighters like Rose, Fammo, Bob Dunlop, Paul Ferreri, Charkey Ramon, were all world-class. Tony Mundine was known around the Globe as a fearsome and classy Middleweight, with victories oper many in the Top 10 of his weight division. He came at a time when the Middleweights were dominated by one of the all-time greats - Carlos Monzon - (Escopeta - shotgun in Spanish), who held the title for 7-years. Tony did himself and all Australians proud in his pursuit of excellence and fame. Any time Tony was featured on the front cover of Fighter Mag, I'd be the first to but a copy, as Tony was and IS a true living legend. God Bless you, Tony Mundine.
Tony the slipper , his ability to slip punch’s was legendary & always the articulate sportsman he looks like he can still go today without a problem.

Tony Mundine Hard as Nails!!
Always been a big fan, Tony, from way back. I always liked your style. Can't say the same about your son. However, one day I had a hands free phone kit fitted to my car by a little guy (a boxer) who was at that stage, Anthony's physical trainer. We had a good chat about Anthony, and when I learned all the good stuff he was doing behind the scenes to help keep youngsters off the streets and on the straight and narrow, I had to revise my opinion of him.
Another fighter I liked was Hector Thompson.
My dad watched him fight back in the 70s, great great fighter !!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing, I hope this man is still doing well, godspeed to you brother
Much respect
Great boxer, I remember him beating Steve Aczel at Festival Hall in Brisbane. Like he said a natural, born to fight, and so tough. I would hate to face him even today, or anyone with last name Mundine. Lovey video.
Never seen him fight but from him just speaking he seems like a good being 💪❤️🙏
Brilliant from UK ❤
Legend. Young people need to sit with old school elders like Tony Mundine. I had a wise old man named Byron Reid, they teach the things an iPhone can’t.
❤ the Mundines! 65 ko's 96 fights back in the day that's solid
God gifted , for all the achievements in the world of boxing both for tony and Anthony Mundine , yet for Mundine he started boxing late but his ability made him stand and beat grean and many more
This boxer fought against Carlos Monzón in 1974, in Buenos Aires, and he was given a terrible beating. He had no chance against a hard punching Monzón.
A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit.
True bloody legend mate, phoww wouldn't want to get hit by him ever.
Awesome stuff
Can't believe I met the guy
❤️❤️❤️
Now he's a legend
Good on ya Tony. That's where your son gets it from. Anthony great boxer this like his father.
Good joke
Cheers for the fight last night tony, you and your son are respected. More you then your son hehe, but still, i give credit to only REAL aus boxers.
Hope jeff has a great career.
96 Wins 65 knockouts 9 losses not bad old fulla
I always admired Tony Mundine a great humble man and a great boxer , as for Choc the Ali wannabe I really haven't much to say . anyway keep punching the bag and don't forget to pray to Allah the big one !
One of his nephews is dating my sister he is a legend
My sneeze will knock this man out.
As good a boxer that Tony Mundine was , that night he stepped into the ring with Carlos " The Man " Monzon , was only ever going to end up one way . Monzon not only destroyed Mundine , he broke his jaw as well
Have yet to meet anyone, who has, a bad word, to say about him.
Are you a Mufti to.
Running protection rackets all over Redfern and taking money from his own people, some role model this fella.
HOF or bust!!!
Real man, Jeff was a low bum
i have followed Boxing for 40years and yes i know of you but never heard anyone talk about you or even mention the name oh 1 man who said you had a Glass jaw, yes your son has inhertited that jaw.
Tony Tell Anthony he had to beat otke, green, beyer, kessler, calzaghe &jones! And stay undefeated for 10years! Then he would a been recognized as australias greatest ever boxer!
Pitty your son didn't take after you Tony. Not As a person not as a fighter.
I disagree
Anthony is a very nice man
An the former WBA Super middleweight champ
Who the F RU
looking for Kerry (Donaldson) I think she married a Mundine??

Tony please tell Anthony he had to beat green, otke ,Jones, Kessler ,beyer & calzaque and stay undefeated for 10years ! Then he would a been recognized as australias greatest ever! Not even close!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He could Fight unlike his son
Jones dropped you
Era un tronco, como tantos que le pusieron a Monzon. Sin cintura, sin movilidad, poca técnica
OK boxer at best
