There's a creek I love to wade during spawn, and using a bfs setup has been the best! I can skip tiny swimbaits into holes, or let em flow in current towards my target. The shorter rods really are the way to go, too!

BFS is one of my favorite techniques between UL and ML rods. Look forward to seeing your journey with BFS. Perhaps your thoughts between 70/80 size and BFS reels with MH-H rods? Great channel Chad!

Great video Chad. I'm a little confused though. Did you originally have the medium rod then switched to medium heavy? How does the medium heavy do casting such a light bait?
I’ve played around with both. I think the medium heavy is a little too heavy for super light baits because you can’t “load” it to cast. I’ve gotten an actual BFS rod from YakRods and paired it with the Curado BFS reel and it’s a much better setup for super light baits and true BFS. But I still really like the BFS reel with the Expride for river fishing like I was doing in this video.

Sorry, boss. I fished rivers and creeks for at least 40 years, and I prefer short pistol grip rods and baitcastor reels. BUT, each to his own.!! There is a difference, tho. I always fished from a 11.9 Coleman Crawdad. A little heavier but much more comfortable AND stable on the New River and Upper James. Takes class a two and three rapids easily.
