‘A lot of excitement’: 11 boys, 4 girls from Elk Grove HS wrestling team head to Masters tournament

After winning another league championship the Elk Grove Thundering Herd headed to the Masters tournament over the weekend. Eleven boys and four girls from Elk Grove High School qualified for the Sac Joaquin Section High School Masters wrestling tournament, where the best of the best grappled for a trip to the state wrestling tournament. “This was a special year for the program. Looking at the previous 19 years, we’ve won the league every single year up to this year. So this was our 20th consecutive league title,” said head coach Nick Jordan. “So I think coming in there was a lot of excitement.” See more in the video above.
