      They used to be the most expensive on the market. A lot has changed. His designs haven't much. Always solid though - but rarely that original. I will likely get that ds1 clone because of the price and I want to support him. I feel like the JHS show stole his shine online and maybe affected his business. You don't see him on all the other CZcamsr's channels anymore. Seems as though he was booted from the clique. As a human being - Wampler is my favorite pedal builder - even if I'm not a big fan of his pedals. I think if he wasn't kind of pushed to the side we'd have far better content and pedals from him. Seems like he may be struggling someway somehow? Prayers

      It is! Brian took the SD-1 (Boss's take on the Tubescreamer but with asymetric clipping) and combined it with a Bad Monkey (Digitech's take on the TS-9 but with bass and treble EQ) and added a mids EQ, a mode switch (SD-1/BM?) and two internal dip switches. Also he dropped the BM's cab sim so technically that circuit is perhaps closer to the Digitech CM-2 than the BM.

    I have 3 pedals from Wampler: Clarksdale, Pinnacle deluxe and Tumnus deluxe. They all sound great but they have a pretty evident problem in common. The bass knob is setted on the wrong frequency so instead of adding fatness it adds muddines. Really unpleasant and not musical. This review shows exactly what I mean.

    • @wampler_pedals
      @wampler_pedals Pƙed rokem +6

      Sorry you're not a fan, bass knob is a wider q in the 120hz region. I'd have to disagree though that it makes it muddy. Muddiness sort of comes from boosting bass before clipping, and in these circuits bass circuitry is after any clipping.
