    Here's a demo of a Bill Krinard modded Filmosound Amp. As used by guitarists Blake Mills, Steve Kimock and Tim Pierce (Mills and Pierce use a Projector amp modded by Austen Hooks). I also talk about the Blake Mills album 'Heigh Ho' and how it influenced my gear choices of late.
    Bill is the co-founder of Two Rock Amplification and is a master at amp design and am thankful for him for modding this old projector amp.
    I'm using a Celestion Type A 12" speaker with this setup and a Victoria Reverberammo apart from that I am using no other effects. My guitars are fitter with either vintage pickups or Mojo Pickups.

    All I know is that I accidentally found this, and have played it on loop a few days, while I went about my day. Sounds terrific to me.

    I picked up a filmosound 302 version of these and I've been playin it after the obvious mods to play safely and it sounds surprisingly good. Gotta replace the filter can caps but after that itll be a good lil amp. Your 385 sounds great

    Beautiful, luscious tones and playing - thanks for sharing. I have Filmosound 179, 185 (similar to 179) and 385 chassis - looking to get a few different angles on what these are capable of. You mentioned in a reply about someone who could work one up similar to what you have here. I'm in Northern California/Bay Area, but don't think I can just ring up Bill Krinard! Thanks again, take care!

    Thank you for this video. You have really nailed his tone and I really liked your slide playing. I saw Blake Mills live, both in Paris and Manchester. The first was a more intimate affair, must have been 20 people in the room and the sound coming out of the amp was something I had never experienced before, or since for that matter. As he played the opening notes to Unworthy, it was as if a jet engine was taking off. Would love to be able to go down the rabbit hole of trying to replicate his set up, sadly the rent is too high where I live ;)

    Hey there! What do you recommend for a cabinet with these?

    • @TheGuitarShow
      @TheGuitarShow  Před 2 lety

      Hi Ryan - any 1 x 12 - or even better 1 x 15 . Vintage 15" speakers are great - vintage 12"s are normally thrashed or underpowered. Any modern 12" will probably be better - the cabinet itself dosnt matter too much just if you want closed or open - I will do a video of my favourite speaker really soon.

    Wait so is it stereo, your using 2 amps? Or is the victoria just an effect? Does it color the tone?

    • @TheGuitarShow
      @TheGuitarShow  Před 5 lety +2

      yes its just an effect - yes it does colour the tone as you are going though more tubes its a great effect but you can get the similar results from a good vibrato pedal

    This demo is unusable due to you have put another unit in-line. It is impossible to tell what the amp sounds like. BB King used no reverb. Why can't you follow his example.
