the running joke about the shuttles they always kept stealing, is that it was the same shuttle every time. this is even brought up in a minor dialogue between Ezra and Zeb while piloting said shuttle.
Realistically though, steal some crates of blasters, occasional munitions, the Empire can basically roll over and go to sleep on that one. You start stealing multiple Assault Landers, one of the bean counters is going to take notice.

The Legends version of the Sentinel is massive(Usually there's a tiny one in OGfront 2 on the Kamino Rebellion map), the Disney Canon version is way smaller but DOES get a tailgun similar to the Lambda but slightly worse in positioning. There IS a hologram of the Legends version projected from the Rodian cyborg's headband in Rebels which is odd. Could be an error or maybe they were planing an Sentinel 2 in Newcanon.

The Sentinel-class Landing Craft is perhaps my all-time favorite ship. I had the original Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels (still sitting on my bookshelves today and containing the *definitive* rendition of this ship), and the Sentinel was always the first entry I flipped to.
Of all the Star Wars ship toys that I acquired and lost over the years, only the Sentinel's Galoob Action Fleet model remains; I'm looking at it right now on my dresser. As a kid I always imagined it as something my character would have modified for his personal ship. And I too always got a small thrill each time I saw it in Shadows of the Empire racing by it on a swoop bike.
I really have no idea why there are so many dumpy-looking versions of this ship out there, this thing is a shark. And in my silly daydreaming as a child, I also always insisted that a rear turret be added. 😁
I wrote a response to your last video bringing up the Sentinel, then promptly deleted it when I realized you probably didn't put it in your list for a good reason. What a pleasant surprise to see it then addressed so soon in its own video.

It's tough as nails, armed to the teeth, and stylish to boot. Its only drawback was it was even slower than a Y-Wing. Fun fact: There's a ship you can get in No Man's Sky that looks just like it, naturally I make it a point that every character I create in that game owns one.

@@DIEGhostfish of course there is an argument for both, but you forget proton torpedoes and ion cannons are no joke. Its practically a gunboat that can carry both the deadly space troopers and stormtroopers.
I imagine the sentinel had better sensors, and of course it carried more troops and vehicles, but for a assault transport, I would personally value the greater firepower, protection, and boarding capabilities. The dx9 is practically half the size of the sentinal and carries proportionately same amount of troops (30 and not counting vehicles as they are useless in boarding enemy ships) Both ships have their place and the sentinel is still an awesome assault transport and is arguably better for planetary use. I am not trying to demean it, I just think the dx9 is better because it focuses on space combat a little more than the sentinel.

I'd like to make a callback to the 'The Empire's Insanely OP... Shuttle?' video about the Gamma Class Assault Shuttle. It should have been about the 'triumvirate of terror': the Assault Shuttle, the Escort Transport and the ATR-6 Assault Transport. I reinstalled X-wing Alliance after that video and any one of them is terrifying to take on if you're flying a single seat fighter, one of them is slightly weaker, I don't remember which one exactly, but in practice the player needs a squadron of at least 4 ships to make an attack on any of them not a suicide mission, unless you're flying a B-Wing or Tie Defender, and it's still a close call.
And then there are also the Scout Craft and System Patrol Craft: In the campaign they are extremely nerfed, flying very slow and with a low rate of fire. But if the player fights them in the mission simulator they are the same kind of terror birds as the shuttles, even worse as they are faster.

The ventral wing and the two lower wings make me think of the horizontal/vertical stabilizers in a plane's tail, but in a universe of repulsorlifts and artificial gravity I wouldn't have thought ships would need to stabilize when flying this way. There seem to be plenty of other shuttles in the Star Wars universe that can fly just as easily without, the GR-75 for example.

I figure the lack of rear-facing weaponry is probably a consequence of cramming so many other awesome systems into a relatively small hull. Besides, it's essentially an assault shuttle, made for flying straight into the thick of combat and unloading troops and vehicles under fire. Like the AT-AT, this thing is pure frontal assault. Basically, if your rear is to the enemy, you're using it wrong.
Doctrinally I imagine the Imperial Army and Stormtrooper Corps conceived of its use in such a way that by the time it departs the combat zone it charged into, everything immediately capable of harming it from behind should have been neutralized by its heavy forward armament, its escorting fighters, or the ground unit it carries. Imperial planners probably assumed that they would always have air and orbital superiority when deploying landers, so the lack of rear-facing weapons was likely judged a minimal risk for most combat scenarios they were likely to face.

I remember playing 'The Search for The Nonnah' mission on Rouge Squadron 1 so many times as a kid, and every single time I pumped as much laser fire and missiles into the Sentinel that plops down and deploys AT-PTs, tanks, and AT-STs that I could, hoping I'd be able to destroy it, but never did. Just goes to show how much 25% more armor makes a difference.
...Or it could be just that it's made indestructible for the sake of not screwing with scripted events...

I've remember the Sentinel because Moff Kohl Seerdon use it on Thyferra in Rogue Squadron 3D when it face Luke Skywalker in the only boss fight of the game, very hard to take down because of the armor, at least 5 tries it took me to beat him.

I always liked the Lambda, but never like when it was used a s workhorse or assault lander. It always felt to me like it was the officers (or VIP) transport. So the moment I saw the Sentinel added in the special edition I immediately loved it.

I'm not sure i'd consider the Sentinel a shuttle. I'd say its more of a light freighter, long range assault craft. It can carry a fair amount of cargo and vehicles, has beds, has a mess, has shower and toilet. It can operate for weeks if not months on its own consumables if its not carrying troops. It puts it out of the field of shuttle.
In star trek its like calling the runnabouts shuttle craft. you could do a long range multi-month mission on a runabout or even longer...
the size of the ship puts it large then some of the freighters.

#askeck How do you think cost factors in when comparing the Lambda to the Sentinal? Lots of modern military problems 'seem' easy to fix until you realize than one costs six times more than the 'worse' option. Is the Lambda the GOAT because it was 'good enough' AND cost effective? That's my head-cannon anyway.

For @Ekhartsadder: (All in Good Fun)
From a former military Veteran who knows what he's talking about: Eck, I'm sorry to say that I have to call B.S. formally on this analysis Sir. Why?
(Mostly) Because, in both this design and the Lambda Class T-4 series shuttles they have Both the same Exact Fault and it is the Exact same 'feature" you noted before, the swing wings and up top dorsal Wing (I call it what it looked like a Sail - on a Space Ship - That Doesn't and Can't be used for Sailing not even Solar). (Me at all times: Why George? Why?)
    1) Your average Tie Fighter or X-Wing jockey would have to be legally Blind to miss it when targeting the shuttle from the side (which Enhances Not Detracts From the Notice-ability of the Aircraft in question Which is Directly proportionately Opposite from the current "en vogue" of aircraft - meaning stealth enhanced airframe's) which means any Sane military Will Not (except the Empire apparently) would want them overly much since those who get noticed First in combat, usually are the very First to die First (a fine Grand Ole Time Tradition if their ever was one).
Which brings me to my next point, the cross sections of these beasts and another problem that relates to other but is a whole another issue at hand as well.
    2) The military uses terms like" "enfilading fire", "flank", "flanking march", "distraction tactics", "pincer movements" and "end rush's" - Yes all are military terms or were invented by them (usually to dismember another individual but I digress) Which All Apply Here, meaning that Generally if something is designed for a Military it is a More Robust item (genrerally in very comforting armor) that doesn't carry a Nice Big set of "Hey Look at Me" Wings (Remember rule number one, not to be seen either visually or by sensors) that upon being flanked and shot at on the cross way's where any (not blind hence the reason they are supposedly a pilot in the 1st place) idiot can see it which tends to mean That is exactly where they Aim most generally.
What are those attached to? And How do they Work?
Yep, you got it in one. Hits the shielding on the side, which Can wears thru it and melts the Entire Mechanism that Allows you to Fold Your Wings (oops, now how do you land? Me= Super glad it's not my problem to have to worry about - gets out popcorn to watch the fun).
I'd call that a "significant Design Flaw", wouldn't you?
I've been shot at too many times already plus have been thrown out of too many moving vehicles (intentionally) to Ever want to ride on Either One of these (intentionally, while conscious and / or of "sane mind" -whatever that means -, I'm crazy, just not that Insane yet since I'm currently not looking to die, I'll let other people beat me to that prize first sure enough so uh...."no thanks, I'll wait for the LAARTY" - LAAT rules).

While the lack of a rear defensive laser gun turret is, well, a disadvantage, given the Sentinel's shape and design--a more compartmentalized, significantly more massive, with a discreet propulsion "block" at the rear that could match or even exceed the Lambda-class shuttle in acceleration--it's entirely plausible that the designers literally had no good place to put it that wouldn't compromise the aerodynamics while having a poorer field of fire (basically the flaw in the overwhelming majority of defensive gun turrets in real life aircraft design). That's even before considering that the powerplant might have little energy to spare between the larger shield output and drive systems; the turret might've been deleted to help with those. It's a weakness for a ship in that role, but I actually really appreciate it when we see minute but believable technical flaws in this sort of design (especially for a craft that would be manufactured by the thousands and often used in comparatively mundane roles. Neat video.
