    Kimi winning the 2007 title despite two mechanical DNFs vs. none for McLaren drivers and just one for Massa is sadly overlooked statistic. Newer fans who never even watched the 2007 season think Kimi "lucked" into the championship when he had more bad luck that year than anyone else among the top contenders.

      Precisely. This is the key point to remember. This guy would have won the title by over a race win (25 points today), had he simply had equal reliability to his 2 main competitors.

    He was running in a podium spot during both races where his car let him down.
    Kimi lost at least 12 points down to technical failure on his car in 2007.
    Had the Ferrari been as reliable as the McLaren, which had 0 mechanical DNFs, Kimi would have won the WDC by over 13 points! Makes you realize that he was the best driver. McLaren's DNFs were down to driver error, in comparison.

      I’d say more than that mate. Definitely lost at least 8 in Spain-Kimi was running longer than Lewis so would possibly leapfrogged him through the pit stops. At the Nürburgring, Kimi could have possibly won due to the changing conditions later in the race. So a good 18 points if you ask me. That said, even if Lewis didn’t have as many mechanical issues. he was unfortunate still. Remember the puncture in Turkey, the mechanical issue in Brazil and the botched strategy that cost him dearly in china.

      Well Lewis crashed in the pitlane in China. As bad as the strategy was, he still shouldn't have done that.
      The puncture in Turkey and Brazil issue still weren't more costly than 2 actual DNFs. But yes, Lewis had some misfortune but nowhere near as much as Kimi in my view. Kimi would have loved to drive a car like that McLaren in my view, which had a superior front end to the Ferrari and better reliability.@@umeshsurenthiran9205

    Anybody that says Räikkönen is overrated or had luck in 2007 is an idiot, sorry.
    In 2007 he still had to get used to the car and tyres (just like Alonso but unlike Massa and Hamilton), got 2 DNFs (1 more than any of those 3, McLarens didnt have mechanical DNFs tho) and was 26 points behind Hamilton by the end of USA GP (18 after Europe GP, still 17 after Suzuka) but still won the WDC with skill and determination......and more bad luck that anybody else.

      26 points in modern system are 60 points of gap, kimi did a miracle that year 💪

    Think he was more on course for a podium in Barcelona if it wasn’t for that mechanical failure and Nurburgring think he would get on the podium or might have won due to the weather changes had his car not failed him. The more people dissect his 2007 season,the more you realized he had more bad luck then Hamilton and Alonso in super reliable McLarens plus had to adapt to the Bridgestone tires which Massa had years of understanding how those tyres work.

    • @ciaronsmith4995
      @ciaronsmith4995  Před 3 měsíci +5

      If you look at his speed in Nurburgring and his wet weather speed in Fuji, there's a high chance he would have won that race.

    that is 12 easy points for kimi,when mclaren it was 100% reliability on both cars after kimi leaving(what a joke)...

    Kimi may be the unluckiest man to still manage a WDC.

  • @lynxe6313

    Alonso fanboys who never watched the season say he was the unluckiest in 07 and his team where sabotaging him (false) don’t realise that Kimi would’ve won the title in china, maybe even Fuji if he had a bit more luck

    • @ciaronsmith4995
      @ciaronsmith4995  Před 3 měsíci +4

      Well said. If he simply had equal luck to the McLarens, he wins it in China.

    Hi ciaron , which car do you believe was faster, the F2007 or mp4-22 ?

    • @ciaronsmith4995
      @ciaronsmith4995  Před 3 měsíci +6

      I believe the MP4-22, which was illegal, was the better car overall. It was roughly equal in speed over the course of the season, but had more mechanical grip (giving the drivers more confidence in wet conditions), a better front end (which is what Kimi specifically likes) and superior reliability. Ferrari had the best driver in the world, and that made the difference in my view. Had Kimi been driving a 2007 McLaren, that championship would definitely have been over by China.
