quite frankly, if I were a total beginner, I'd be left super confused with this. and I Was a beginner on Alibaba at some point and it took me a while to learn and grasp the whole thing. there are so many things one must consider while thinking of placing an order. I will suggest to anyone who is starting out, don't get intimidated, just watch as many tutorials as possible and read info on forums, reviews. there are many websites dedicated to this subject. get a notebook and take notes. ask questions. it will all come together after a while. good luck!
I've been doing that but I still, even after this video, have never seen anyone walk through the checkout process. Many people are not simply ordering things for private label, they are customizing orders. Which makes things harder because there is no one discussing how to place an order on a custom order or for a custom sample. Do I ask for an invoice? Create my own. Order through the generic checkout and hope they give me what we actually discussed. This is especially important to not appear as a novice because many people indicate that Alibaba sellers are essentially looking to rip off newbies.

Alibaba is for business and AliExpress is for consumers
Alibaba ia actually a online site where buisness owners buy stuff form china. There is a minimun amount you can buy. Its coming from china so you cant just order 1. Every product has a minimum. So, this site is moslty for buisness.

Tariffs don't apply in my area. I use a bookkeeping software for everything else

Most products are bulk.. Very few are 1 or 2 items
Here is my little experience I gather on alibaba say you want to buy and sell smartphone right, you sourcing products yourself so you browsing and the price say 12-30 for 10 units moq right so you contact the supplies only for then to tell you oh that is not the price the real price is 65 USD per unit...that is just crazy to get an understanding of how to use the site plus why make an app knowing you still have to negotiate for the right price? If the price have to change it should mainly be because of quantity and nothing else! You don't put a false price then have ppl negotiate for the right one to me that is what confusing... ( again base on my experience)

What kinds of pricing can I expect for DHL? For a 9kg package I got rates of over $400 US on FedEx and DHL. Is that typical?? Definitely crushes any profits at those rates. Appreciate your advice

Yes, shipping can get pricey. I focus on smaller Items to try to get the shipping cost down per unit and I also buy as many as I can for the same reason.
dear, for a (3kg +) package I got around $95 initially. Then the supplier told me he could get a special price and brought it down to $47 . Try to may be ask for a discount. Don't be afraid to negotiate on shipping cost too. it's acceptable.
yeah here's an obvious question you forgot to answer; how do you make an order on alibaba?
They just give you a price and an email, you send money, and that's the PO?
Spencer Stromberg you can negotiate with supplier every detail and agree on payment method. if PayPal, ask for their PP email and transfer the money. don't forget to mention on PP "good and services" or no money back in case of dispute. if trade assurance, ask the seller to send you the order. you shall receive an email and follow the steps. DO ready everything thoroughly though. especially the attached contract. compare with sample ( available online ). then only pay. may be also negotiate to pay 30% as initial payment, then the balance before shipping. good luck!

If they claim PayPal is too risky for them, they themself sound too risky. PayPal is usually the safest

I want to try ordering 20 beehive frames. I saw that they come 20 to a case and that's all I want to try for now. What would be the cheapest way to have it delivered to my home. I'm not concerned about time. I just don't want to get screwed for postage. It will be a box maybe 20"× four sides and height maybe 10". Maybe 15lbs in weight.

It may be a little different just because they may live in a different area from other suppliers you may reach out to but it shouldn't be a dramatic change.

Some companies has minimum order but you can negotiate first. Go ask them if they can several units as this is your 1st time

no you cant trust the equipment or tools if they cant get metallurgy right i wouldnt get anything medical grade from there you remember the dog food baby food and McDonalds toys that had to be recalled for lead and other heavy metal contamination also china isnt the most trustworthy

byangxo Yea, they will ask you for your street adress to give you an accurate quote on shipping & then they will give you their email for paypal. But when you send it just make sure you send it as 'goods or services' so if there is an issue you can file a claim through paypal

I always use DHL Express. I know some people don't mind waiting 30 days for it to come in by sea.
unless you fill the whole container (by sea), better to use DHL. it's really fast and very reliable. cheap options may cost you much more in the long run. many hidden costs and higher chances of losing the package.

@@davidtaylor7775 I’m not familiar with the trade assurance policy, I always use PayPal. I would reach out to the supplier & tell them you’ll file a claim soon. Every supplier has different handling times but I always ask beforehand to have an ETA on the shipping

Depends where you live.. I just order with my address & they ship it. Regulations vary by state but I never had any issues

@@observer8430 I would reach out to the supplier first and provide your address to them, they should be able to tell you if it’s possible to ship directly to the address you provided. They usually always ask for your shipping address to generate a quote either way to give you an accurate cost.

AlucarD DraculA PayPal is the 3rd party that keeps the money until you receive the product. If you have any issues receiving the products or receive them damaged, PayPal can step in & reimburse you accordingly.

It’s not a publicity for PayPal. I only use PayPal to make an order. You can use other Payment methods. From my personal experience, PayPal works the best for me. Feel free to use any payment method you feel comfortable with.
