  • "Hitler's Mountain in Flames: The Bombardment of Obersalzberg" is a gripping documentary capturing the dramatic events surrounding the bombing of Obersalzberg during World War II. Serving as a refuge and symbolic retreat for Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime, Obersalzberg was one of the most heavily guarded and secretive locations in the Third Reich. However, as the war progressed, strategic air raids by the Allies targeted the Obersalzberg.
This documentary delves into the history of these pivotal moments that struck at the heart of the Nazi regime. Through rare archival footage, interviews with eyewitnesses, and expert analysis, the events leading up to the bombings and their impact on the region and the history of World War II are reconstructed.

Great video. The destruction of history (good or bad) is unforgivable.

The removal of historical sites around the world, especially the Obersalzburg, is just heartbreaking. After all, these very special places belong to all mankind, all of us. 😢

However, keeping these buildings there creates a neo-nazi shrine…

I agree 110% . They keep all the camps why destroy all the third Reich traces. I hear young German can’t even keep their father and grandfathers military uniform. If there’s any nazi insignias or stickers on them that’s insane.

While I understand the need to keep this area clear of a possible shrine for the Nazi’s, it is ashamed that they bombed and tore down the buildings. Hitler’s Berghoff was a lovely looking building and had incredible views of the countryside. The area is so beautiful, I would love to see it someday. I will give my German ancestors one thing, they really knew how to build anything! Engineering marvels. Great video as always.

they dont have a right to destroy history on the assumption it would be a nazi shrine, history is history and should be preserved

What the RAF did bombing the Berghof was an act of mindless stupidity.
There was no need to bomb the Berghof and the SS barracks etc.
The Berghof and the SS barracks etc. should have been preserved for future generations to see. The 1930s architecture was superb!

Were it not for the RAF, and all the allies, you would not exist. They saved the world from unimaginable evil, and you complain about architecture.

Many of those messages had a destination: Argentina, as the change of reception location for the two groups of U boots that would go to that country, they changed their reception area from GK to GS, on the German Navy grid. The two agents are Luna and Sargo. They both received the U boots. A few weeks before they had received the "Bormann funds" that arrived in U boot at the Moromar ranch, it was February 7, 1945. Of these Siemens telexes, Bormann ordered 5 units, which could only communicate with each other, one in Berlin , another in the Berghof, perhaps another in Flensburg, another was in Argentina and the fifth possibly aboard one of the U boots.

What I can't find out, is whether Hitler was informed of the destruction of HIS house etc, AND his reaction. I wouldn't have liked to be the messenger, what with the collapse of Berlin.
