Open 2 of tripod legs. Leave the third one closed. Put each open leg on one of your shoulders and put the third one on your chest. This way not only you'll get more stabilized shot, you'll be able to see what you are shooting in camera's monitor as well.

The first tricks, i have tried something similar. I took Cardboard and taped it to the tripod, it gave Beautiful results! :-)
