@@DaKommienuist I've seen heaps of snakes. One place I lived on the south coast of NSW, we had a red belly black that liked to lie in a sunny spot outside the kitchen door and we had to step over it going in and out of the kitchen. It wasn't even slightly bothered by that - and nor were we. Another place I lived in northern NSW, there was a massive python - it must have been at least a couple of meters long, probably more, and as thick as my uppper arm. I've seen several tree snakes in the Top End, too, and had a snake of some unidentified sort in my kitchen near Darwin the year before last. That was a bit of a freakout, as I wasn't sure how to get it out :-)

I saw a cassowary on a bush walk once. It squawked, then ran away. Beautiful creatures.

Are you frigging kidding me?! There was a big story on 'Dateline' or '60 Minutes' ( cannot recall which ) about how Cassowary birds have started to gather in large hordes.. they go around and do drive by's, beat the crap out of school kids to take their lunch money, that sorta thing.

I have a pet cassowary, he's free range in the Daintree Rainforest. Very predictable, never comes when called.

This is hilarious, but the perentie is real it’s otherwise known as a goanna, the largest can grow past 2 meters and the smallest to 20 centimetres, but like all the other animals they’ll leave you alone as long as you leave them alone. Not to mention you need to be in the bush they won’t really rock up to town to say hello.
