Great video. I have a book spine to reattach, as 3") has come loose on only one side of the spine. You demonstrated with a strip of adhesive linen to make the repair. I don't have the adhesive linen, but as a sewist I do have linen cloth. May I use a linen strip from my stash, cut to correct size, and apply the linen strip with pvc glue to the spine? I don't have gauze, but I do have a sheer nylon stocking.
to be clear, you are only adhesing half the width of the spine on a hinge at the cover joint? i understand this and just want to confirm what i see with my lying eyes. thanks.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to be a bone. A popsicle stick or something similar should work. Though if you are gonna do a lot of book repairs, long term a bone would be better cause it's durable.
