Very helpful content. Zygarde cells feel like such a wild goose chase. If you're lucky enough to live close to routes, sometimes the route glitches and you lose your progress. Sometimes you see a Zygarde cell and the route badge pops up and the cell disappears before you can tap on it. They're so hard to see when the sun is bright. I wish they would implement some feature where if you find one, it would just automatically appear in your bag like the rewards at the end of the route. They've made it so hard that it's very discouraging.
They could also do something like you need to have your buddy following you and he will automaticaly find cells while doing the routes.

I agree, you shouldn’t have to click on them, at least not when it’s so difficult. I’d rather stroll down the route not worrying about catching anything really 😊
Ive got to the end so many times and nothing and i have to imagine a few of those i missed it. It can be very hard to see. And a lot of times you just get to the end.
I just finished one and I’m pretty sure I found nothing. I saw a picture of the cell and expected a green thing to pop up but after this video, it’s a tiny particle effect that can barely be seen when the sun is beaming. I guess I’ll try again at night but it should still be easier to get if you’re already committing to doing a route

There definitely is a benefit to finishing at least one route per day. The game keeps track of your daily route streak just like the Poke Stop and Catch streaks. You'll get some items and XP for finishing your daily route in addition to medals.

Im not gonna lie after grinding 47 cells, my last 3 days I've done over 12 routes and gotten 0 cells....after evolving to 50% zygarde its going to be really hard to have the motivation to get to 100%...kudos to all the people that actually grind the 250 cells because I am slowly fading man.
Niantic must think all their players have no life outside of Pokemon go lol unless it’s an award for the one who dedicate their lives to the game

My wife and I have done over 100 different routes and still only have one cell. I’m done with this task, not interested anymore.

I found one on my first route
I have had more than 3 spawns in a single route. From my account, it seems dependent on length of route. A route I created, about 2.5 km long, spawned 5 spawns from the starting to ending point. This would be a rate of an exclusive route spawn per 500 meters. An exclusive route spawn could be switched out by a zygarde cell. I have been unlucky a handful of times not having a zygarde cell to spawn from this route.
Something I found out is that when you pause a route, it appears to stay paused indefinitely! I paused a route because I was running late and it would have taken me in the wrong direction, and then for reasons I wasn't available to play much for a couple days. But the route remained paused and I was able to walk over, resume, and finish it, about 48 hours later. So if your geography/time/energy makes it hard to complete a route, it can be worth it to walk PART of a route, if it's one you'd come back to.
I got screwed out of my first cell because it was at the end of the route, so this advice is super helpful. Thank you for the video!

In my experience you don't need to pause the route first less than 100 meters from goal and then restart the game to get the Zygarde cell spawning - you only need to restart the game.
I recall major traffic jams and near-accidents during early days of POGO when people found Dragonites... needing to keep staring at your phone while hunting for cells = POGO-related accidents making the news again 😅😅
They need to add more routes man there distribution is shocking
I dont think Niantic is making routes at this point. I believe the routes in game are all currently player generated.
@@lemonz1769 correct they are all player generated. If you are over level 45, you can create a route, but Niantic has to approve it. The approval can take anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. I created 3 routes in a 24 hour window a week ago. The first was approved in 3 hours, the other 2 are still under review.
They locked this feature behind Level 48, so no one’s gonna be able to make Routes as of rn..😤😤🫠🫠😤😤
All player generated and you have to be level 45 to create routes. I don’t think they thought this through very well
@@Kat_KM regardless, they should’ve put it behind Level 37, because there at least you can also nominate Stops. It would’ve made the most sense, and you wouldn’t have to grind so hard for that specific feature.
Routes auto complete under 40 meters, so pause around 50 meters before the end, now you are free to explore around the end of the route without it completing, and restarting the app too helps.
I (finally) have enough routes and have reached 50% Zygarde but mixed results on locating cells. I've known about the route spawns for a few weeks and have obsessed watching for them. However, even taking my time, checking every pokemon, I've had majority of routes with zero route spawns.
I've tried the "pause route, close app and reopen game & unpause" a total of 7 times with zero success.
i paused the route near the end and walked a little infront and it spawned literally behind the end point i was lucky to grab it as i finished the route the same second. its annoying how then can spawn past a route endzone
The same thing happens to me, I check every Pokémon along and on top of the route line to try to count the 3 spawns but I don’t see any with the route symbol so confused…

Even tho it takes long, you get some good stuff from finishing the route once you’ve done it a few times. I got a couple elite tm’s some rare candy, good xp and stardust
I can’t verify this yet (I’m too quick to transfer) but I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten more than 3 route spawns on a single route. I’ll try to confirm.
Also, I haven’t seen this mentioned yet but MOST (not all) of the route spawn I’m getting seem to be local regionals, like Throh, Illumise, Seviper, Lunatune and Durant.
Still so many questions: Are the spawn locations centered around the route path or your location? Is Niantic aware of the no spawn bugged routes? How far apart are the spawns? Do short routes, like 500-600m long, still spawn things? Does the trick work on the short routes?

the reason that the routes finish near the end point is due to the way that the route is finished when creating routes it offers you the option when you get near to the nominated end point to finish the route this can mean that the distance is not to the stop just near it. a way around this i hope is to not end the route early to walk in a circle around end point to increase distance! so should not complete early
Some of the long routes have more than 3 route exclusive spawns and some of the short routes have less than 3 exclusive spawns. A 4km row today had 6 spawns
I have gotten 3 cells every single day since they came out.
I have 2 strategies here they are.
I have found cell spawn to actually be almost 100%. It's just hard to navigate the route to make them spawn. Finally a video that has accurate info I keep seeing youtubers say 10% spawn ect
Strategy 1. Travelling 60km/h
Doing 3 different very short route. Stop 100m before end of route and wait for spawn slowly creep towards end point but never go within 50m of the end stop until you get the cell.
Strategy 2. 1 long route my local one is 8km. After doing it at 60km/h stop at the 100m mark and walk around waiting for spawn making sure not to get to close to the end point. This gives 3 cells every time.
Other things to note after doing the same 5 or 6 routes each day is that the cell spawn for each routes seems to be in the exact same spot every single time.
I have not tried to do them slowly but I have gotten almost 100% spawn rate on cells the only time they didn't spawn was when I accidentally completed the route before it popped up as they will auto finish when you are around 50m from the end stop. And that's the actual stop not the end of the path.
One route in particular I have to go to the end but then the spawn is next to the stop so I have to walk around 50m off the side of the route to get the spawn without it auto completing

I would just like to comment on the three route spawns thing. Since I found out about this, I always count my route spawns. There is a route close to me, just over 2k long, that I have done multiple times now but I have had more than three spawns on it twice. As I said, I was counting and when I got to three and I was just over half way along the route I thought, OK, that's it for this route. Since I was walking the dog and we were going to the end anyway, I kept up with the route, had two more spawns for a total of five and STILL got a cell near the end. The second time I was doing the route in reverse on a different day and had six spawns but sadly no cell. I don't know if this is just a glitch or what but it's the only route I do of this length and I've never had it happen anywhere else.

I was watching your shorts about zygarde cells and thanks to informations that I got from you I have now 41 zygarde cells and yeah zygarde cells almost every time are spawning at the end of the route.
I have a bit of contrary info. Today I walked a route, encountered the 3 route pokes and then also got a zygarde cell at the end. I suspect it may be because I've done about 15 routes total and have only gotten 2 zygarde cells so far including the one I just got. Niantic absolutely needs to do something to change the drop rate and all round glitchyness associated with routes and cells.
Love the idea of routes. Been enjoying them, whether I get cells or not. I like the rewards and the exercise encouragement. I've gotten rare xl candies from completing them, too. Also a good way to get revives...you know, if you're low because outrage rayquaza decimated your teams for a whole day haha.
I save on revives by leveling up my Pokemon to revive them and then healing with potions.

@damienhardy289 not sure when you start getting them, but yes I've gotten them and elite fast tms. More likely to just get hyper potions, basic tms, and revives, though.
What happen if you pause a route close to the end and then finish it the next day. Can you start that route again that same day in order to hopefully find a cell or is it impossible because you finished that route already?
Even if you get 3+ route spawns sometimes you get a cell at the end. I have a route that gives 4 route spawns and sometimes a cell spawn at the end every once in while

Zygarde is the perfect Pokémon for people with no job
I live in a suburb in the San Francisco Bay Area, and yet I don't live within walking distance of any routes. I look for routes when I'm doing some outings, but in general it's just too troublesome to drive outside of my neighborhood and meander around just to find routes and farm Zygarde cells. I really hope they let us collect cells through other means, like future Zygarde raids, research tasks, or GBL rewards.
1) Received three (3) Zygarde Cells on my first route this morning. Then completed two more unique routes. Did not receive any additional cells in the other two routes. Three cells per day still appears to be the maximum.
2) On other days I have been able to force Zygarde Cell spawns even WITHOUT pausing the route during restart. This skips both the pause before closing the app & the unpause of the route when the app restarts. Have only not spawned cells if the route Pokémon had already spawned near the end of the route.
3) The biggest. On September 3, 2023, I created and submitted a route and it was approved & appeared in the game within about 15-20 minutes after submission. Not sure what this means. Perhaps Niantic has finally allocated enough personnel to this task. Perhaps since I’ve already submitted and had five routes approved and none of them received any negative comments, I may have acquired a golden ticket per se for submitting routes. But, what I & the community would like most of all is that perhaps Niantic is ready to start expanding the number of Trainers who can submit routes.
I kept getting cell spawns right at the end of the route, and then the route would auto-complete at the exact same time and I wouldn't have time to collect the cell. I've started pausing the route at about 60 to 80 meters from the end and just keep walking forward. If a cell spawns then you have plenty of time to collect it and you can go back close to where you paused it and finish the route. It works pretty well for me and is faster than restarting the app.
There is one route closest to my house (one that I made actually) that I've done a dozen times and haven't gotten a cell from. The other routes I do seem to have a cell spawn at the same spot nearly every time, right at the end and past where you could actually go on the route before it auto-completes.
I still only have maybe 24 cells, it is going to take a long time to get enough to get the 100% form. Maybe Niantic will do an event where you can pick up more cells or do tasks to get more cells as a reward or something, that would be really helpful. I also kind of wish you got cells automatically for completing routes, or it picked them up automatically so you don't have to worry about missing it. Missing cells on routes definitely makes me not want to bother with them, it is really demotivating.
Also, I was getting a weird error where the route would continuously pause and not let me actually walk the route. If this is happening to you, I fixed it by turning off adventure sync. After that it works like it is supposed to. Not sure if it is a weird hardware goof or what, but it works for me. Just have to remember to turn it back on later so you can keep hatching eggs.

Sometimes cells spawn BEHIND the end point of the route, which you cannot find because routes are automatically finished once you are near the end point.
So what you do is what Daxi did:
1. Pause route near the end ( 100 - 60m )
2. Force close the app and reopen
3. Wait a few seconds if the cell spawns, if not
4. Walk beyond the end point, sometimes you can find a cell there.
optional 5. Unpause route, go back to your pause location and finish the route
Sadly some routes are bugged and don't have route spawns and therefore no cells, avoid these routes for now.
I think I found one such route, ran it 10 times, 0 cells for 10 tries... Also, it shows I have completed it 0 times for some reason.
You should finish the route because the items you get are not bad. I even got a elite fast tm once.
Theyll probly have route events with increased zygarde cell spawns once the system actually works for everyone.

Have gotten multiple cells same day from same route twice, once forward once backwards. Also continue to get them even thought completed more than 5 times
I’ve found some routes somewhat local! Super excited.
I play while biking, I've done dozens of routes since it was added. I basically gave up on cells cause I hadn't seen any. Thought maybe I was going too fast. Yesterday was the first time I saw a cell. I guess I was just unlucky whole time. Still not liking this method for Pokemon form change. Once winter comes here, gonna be challenging to find a route and be safe/comfortable. They just rejected my neighborhood walk route yesterday.
Finishing routes can get you some good rewards; I once got an elite charge tm from completing one, so now I finish every one I do in hopes of another 😂 Thank you so much for sharing this hack though!
Is it possible for having more than one chance to acquire the Zygarde cell on one route?

So I've done routes and one thing that did work for a couple of times was if I didn't get a cell going one direction I would quite the route before the end (around 60m) and did it in reverse I was able to get a spawn.... the pause and reset thingy only worked for me once but from info that's because I missed the initial spawn the 1st time.... and yes there is a maximum of only 3 a day

Routes sound amazing and now i hear about route streaks, now only if i didnt live in australia, not sure but after 30 mega ray raid not one shiny for me or others they probably forgot to turn on shinies again too
To find a cell, do you catch the route pokemon first then restart the game, or do you run from it, restart the game then look for the cell. Everytime ive seen a route pokemon, ive tapped on it, ran from it, restarted the game, but it was no longer there. Idk what im doing wrong. Could the problem im facing is that im tapping on the pokemon that i know is a route pokemon then restarting the game? SO should i not tap on a pokemon that i know for sure is a route pokemon? I tried these tips yesterday during community day cause i figured it would be easier to tell which pokemon are route pokemons, but each time i tapped on it before restarting the game
Ok, I tried this today on one route. My observations:
- got three spawns on my route (a Throh, a Panpour, and a Pikachu). No hope of cells... or is there?
- got near the end of the route, paused, then exited the game
- reloaded the game
- unpaused the route
- the cells appeared (3 of them in one cluster!) AND ANOTHER ROUTE PANPOUR.
If you complete the route from the start to the finish would it not be simple if Niantic either reward you with a cell or reward when you end the route instead of pausing the game and reloading the game up and hoping the cell appears,done 4 routes and no cell,not expecting to get a cell every time I do a route,but the current system needs to be changed to work better
i haven't done any after getting 9 because it sucks to do & feels like a waste of time when we already walk more than most of these routes are setup to make us walk, anyway. these tips were things i was already successfully doing (minus driving for quicker completion--i don't drive lol), but the route spawns having a chance at being cells themselves is new info to me; i'll try catching them since i usually ignore them knowing the guaranteed cell is at the end of the route. hopefully Niantic figures out that their player base isn't thrilled about this method of getting the cells in the first place & adds another features that makes acquiring them more realistic for 1 Pokémon
I've done the trick over a dozen times and it never has spawned one. I know what they look like as I've found the cells while walking along the routes though.
I've lost my only two zygarde cells I've seen because they show up right at the end, less than 1 second before the end of route pop up happens and I don't have time to click it.
Does it make a difference with location services on all the time as opposed to on when in use. I tried this pause method. Pausing and unpausing the route 7 times and no luck
I got feature to add new routes in my Island (Andaman And Nicobar Islands, India). But no campfire in game yet.
I've created 3 routes where I live because there aren't any, after each one it said that they were going to be reviewed first. How long does the reviews take? it's been almost a week now.
You actually don't have to pause your route. You can just restart the game. Also, it helps to restart at the beginning and middle, although restarting at the eye has produced more results. For my girlfriend and i.
the issue im still having is that the game just shuts itself down and restarts after a few meters. the game is updated and it just gets frustrating. i believe it then seems to reset spawns but does continue the route.
If I did a route and didn’t find a cell, does this mean I can do the route again ? And find the cell with it since I didn’t find it last time
I'm currently on 23 consecutive routes completed without a single cell. Can't forget the issue where sometimes a cell does show up and you click it and you're awarded nothing. Another issue with these routes I find is that cells show up at the end and the route will complete before it lets you click on it. This is so broken, I can't believe a company would put something out like this on live. I get you need to grind for cells, but over 50 routes completed and I have 5 cells, something isn't right.
Does the phone vibrate or make sound when the cell appears? Like a poke spawn?
Great information I just did my first route at Daniels Park.
I am level 41 and can't nominate routes but I am able to walk routes that are already made. So not necessarily needing to be Level 45+.
even if zygarde cells are hard to find and routes aren’t great id recommend doing them. i earned a elite fast tm from completing my daily route

I came back to say thanks. I watched this video yesterday and almost lost a cell today when it de-spawned on me. I paused the route, reset the app, resumed the route and claimed 2 cells.
I paused the route, no cell appeared then when I resumed and walked slowly towards the end it popped up. I think they updated some things I have had A LOT better luck since the update.
i wish that a route didnt need to have a stop cause of the low stop count in my area so its good to know that if i could have a route in my area it would 1 not only take time to get to the route but 2 be jank AF cause terrible cell service and 3 end up going right by where i left to get to the route which would mean after completing the route id have to take that same amount of time to walk back to my house. some days itd be nice to not have to drive a ways away just to even see 1 route let alone be able to get a cell from the route
I like the idea of routes but I'm one of those players with no routes nearby and none in larger cities I go to on weekends for shopping and stuff. I wish they would add a feature to Campfire to be able to find routes on the map because I don't mind driving to one.

Tried it a few times today on two routes (only two within like 50mi...) to no avail. However I did not know to look for the route mons so Ill pay closer attention tomorrow. Does anyone know - if you complete a route and only get mons, can you do the route again and potentially get a cell(s), or can you only get cell(s) the first time you do a walk daily?
I lost my first cell because as I clicked on it I finished the route. It was 39 degree in Spain and I was just struggling to even keep a cool head. A lesson for those who walk to close to the finish line for sure.
If you don’t finish the route and restart could it respawn? I know it’s one per route but if you never complete it goes it count?

You can get a cell even after 3 route spawns. It’s happened to me at least 4 or 5 times

Just an fyi on the 3 route spawn deal. You can get more than 3 spawns. I've gotten 4 multiple times
Can you still not repeat the same route even if you not finish it (quite the route) after getting the zygarde cell? so you can farm it.
You can just close the game and it will autopause/resume. I do it with 60m of the end and its basically guaranteed a cell every time. (This 60m comes from some guide i read so no idea how accurate it is, but I havent failed to get a cell yet)
That last strat is a game changer

I love the idea of routes, I just wish it was implemented better. Walking at minimum half a kilometer for the chance if getting a cell is ridiculous - and that's if you have a route in you're area. I think completing a route should guarantee between the 1 and 3 cells. It kinna defeats the purpose of getting out there and exploring when you have to have your face glued to your phone during a route with hopes you get one cell. The other part of routes I'd like implemented is the benefit of getting bronze, silver and gold levels of a route. Having a higher medal for a route should reward you with better items or a higher chance of getting more cells.
So short route are better 🤔 thanks you always good jobs !
Millennium Park in Orleans Ontario has 2 routes.
Routes have been implemented horribly (what else is new). I've had multiple cells appear at the end of the route only to have the "Route Completed" screen come up before I could get the cell. Kicker was that I was still a fair distance from the ending stop.
My wife has done a lot of the same routes in the downtown. There are like 6 in the entire city. She has yet to find a single cell. One of them in over 10k long.
Hi daxi, there is one more thing one of my friend pause the route because the route isn't its way towards home and not able to complete it in 3 days. He got a warning from niantic and 3 days ban also. Tht sucks

How long do the cells stay spawning tho, i wouldn't want to keep my eyes on the phone the whole time, take them off when crossing the street, then loterally miss it.
I have a hundo. Have found 3 cells. There is 1 route near me. Ive done that route a few times. I find for me i have to wheel very slowly to get a chance of seeing a cell.

We didn't have routes around us and I made 2 so far... so you can make a route but have to wait for Niantic to approve them
I got my first cell this morning, but its not very consistent. Ive tried the pause the route 100m before the end and keep walking and the pause 100m before the end and restart game. The "pause and keep walking" seems to have worked one time, but its not consistent.
