the Camden bunker lift falling off it’s tracks is still my scariest lift experience
I wonder if the fire exit unlocks in event of a fire. It shouldn't be like that though, systems should never be dependent on unlocking themselves in an event of fire as this can fail too. At Drumcondra station in Ireland there is a similar bridge that basically only connects to the lifts. Although there is an emergency exit stair. I dont remember in which way it was locked though. Maybe with an emergency handle that sounds an alarm when used. Plus the lifts there are locked off and if you get stranded on the bridge (like I did), you can only hope that they let you in if you ring the bell.
Was that the bunker that actually had a working mercury rectifier? I’m shocked to see the state of disrepair it has gotten into. Who even owns the bunker now?

@@lucasthings Still a shame it was smashed. If I recall these bunkers all had two rectifiers. One in each service area. And for Belsize, one of them was actually still working to power the DC lift. So I wonder which one got smashed? Also why did someone smash it in the first place? Are metal thieves after Mercury now? Am surprised that somebody is still paying the electric bills for Belsize too.
Belsize had the working one until some cunt smashed it.

The sign is the lift about the alarm will only work if the doors can’t open is a lie, I asked at my local station and they test the alarms everyday and if they don’t work they take the lift out of service
But what I'd the lift breaks between the tests

Smacks of the platforms at Shepherds Bush Overground station which were built too narrow by I think about a metre. Do it again, it's against all the H5ε diktats. But there's Westfield consumer paradise on one side and the motorway the other so there's no room.

How the fuck did you get the Camden bunker lift working?, I went down there a week ago and the lift electrics were all buggered and it was turned off.

It's a pity that the vermin have smashed the mechanical jellyfish/ octopus (mercury arc rectifier). I wonder if they risk getting mercury poisoning?
When I first saw this when I visited a few months ago I thought someone had stolen it for their personal collection. After looking back at the photo, I could see where the glass has broke on the arms.
