C7042 Part 3 - "Pace Cars"

  • Part Three of an instructional video series describing the functions of Scalextric's new Advanced Digital 6 Car Powerbace (C7042). Additional videos will be forthcoming including yellow flag modes and more.
    Part Three describes how to set up and use the powerbase's pace car feature, which allows a user to set up cars to race against. This is a great way to practice racing digitally, having to drive with other cars on the track and in your lane, using lane changing to avoid and pass other cars. It's also a fun way to add a challenge to your races with other people.
    Enjoying the racing? Enjoy it more with people who share your enthusiasm! Look for a club, racing group, or even just another person with the same system near you to race with. It's easy! Check out a forum such as SlotCarIllustrated.com, or SlotForum.com, and look through their clubs and track listings. You might be surprised to find someone right around the corner to race with, or even a whole club of people! For example, I race with a club called the Digital Racing Alliance of Western Washington (DRAWW). Google it! :)

    Hmm...thanks to your well presented, clear and concise vids and slotforums in general, I am now working on a way to get this system and write it off as my daughters birthday present. *Very* nicely done mate. Kyt

    Thank YOU!! Instruction manual is TOTALLy useless unless you wrote it!!. It does not translate and misses so so much in detail and explaining what the abbreviations mean. They wrote them but fail to properly explain. The potentials are so much more. Thank YOU for working your way through it all, making sense and then explaining it in such wonderful clear (though I find I have to go back again and again to get all your wonderful insight) and concise way. Off racing!!

    @Staratino Your track already looks great! It will be quite impressive with landscaping and 6 cars zooming around!

  • @ScalextricDigital
    @ScalextricDigital  Před 13 lety

    @trackspike64 Right now, the new base is only sold separately. According to the Scalextric 2011 catalog, there will be a new "Digital Platinum" set that comes with the new base, a large track, and 6 cars as well as the controllers and power supplies needed. At 500 quid, probably about 700 US, it's a pretty good deal for all that comes in the set. More bases should be on the shelves soon (sold out most places right now), and the new set will probably come out in the spring.

    @pauloasis Alas, I have other things in my life that need doing. I have it mostly written, though, and should be able to begin filming next week. If nothing else comes up, I could have it done by the end of the month.

    @SnorriMc Excellent. you're half way there. Does she watch motorsports with you? If so, you could get her excited about more realistic racing with the new power base. All it takes is a high ranking on the Christmas list to Santa for it to be a shoe in under the tree. ;-)

    Will cars go into pitlane if the track has one?

  • @SnorriMc
    @SnorriMc Před 14 lety

    True, it was my little demo...angel that said she wanted the car game. Only because the wife was in Toys R Us at the same time i got away with that. Coupla hundred pounds on a digital upgrade will be an uphill struggle :) On the plus side, I been told I get the loft all to myself- pics on forum to follow...

    Hi, why pace cars don't count laps in race mode?

    • @ScalextricDigital
      @ScalextricDigital  Před rokem

      Double-check your settings and compare them to the video. If they are not counting laps, then you have either set pace cars to not count laps, or you've set the min lap time to a number higher than the pace cars run the lap.

      @@josevilar1012 Interesting. I have no idea why it would not count laps in that situation. Have you tried different race modes? Maybe one of them ignores pace cars for some reason?

      @@ScalextricDigital Thanks Greg, I will give it another try over this weekend. The thing is that I'm back to my old c7042 powerbase. After having used the ARC AIR for quite some time I am not very happy with it. I don't like using a tablet/smart phone for managing my home races. Bluetooth conexion is not very reliable and I don't like the wireless throttles among other things. I think c7042 gives a friendly user experience.

    Your viewing figures says much about british "engineering" or is it "electronics" & design. Yet still Hornby has failed to address the issue. Just release further products which I feel might not be as good. Just riding a moving forward without actually improving the product. This product certainly shall sit as an example. SAD really. Thank you once again for making it all clear.

      When it comes down to it, they are a toy company. The C7042 was a rare collaboration between slot head hobbyists and those managing the C7042 project.
