Big Thank you from Beautiful Gorgeous Bangkok Thailand 🇹🇭 🌺 🌴 🌴 🙏
Hey my friend! Best wishes to our Thai viewers!
"He was like a relentless cosmic firehose.' That quote just has me smilin. Great episode BBW. Alreddy waitin for the next one
That was a good one.
Awesome!
Kind of eerie to listen to this, knowing how things turned out.Still great info, though.
Very true! .
Fabulous! It's sad that Noel left. Billy Cox was great but whenever an original band starts splintering its usually never quite the same. Great job!🤠🤠
Thank you very much! All the best.
I disagree. Billy kicked Noel's backside easily as a bassist. He was - and is - far more inventive, skillful and funky. In fact, he is probably my favourite bass player full stop. One should also bear in mind that Billy was Jimi's original first choice for bassist when he arrived in England. He asked Billy to come over. However, sadly, Billy was otherwise indisposed and couldn't take Jimi up on his offer. If only he had done!
It's true , they definitely we not the same
Billy Made the band Better .
Thanks BBW. This is one of the big ones where Noel leaves the band after the Denver debacle. They were all pushed so hard w/the travel. Tom Hulet seemed to play a positive role in Jimi's life as part of Concerts West. For those who haven't read it, the Setting the Record Straight book is very informative. Jimi and the Moody Blues, (Odd comparison it seems) were both instrumental in making concerts better for the fans sound wise. 1st time I heard about Jimi mentioning Billy Cox while Noel was still in the band, though doing Fat Mattress. before it was just Noel said, "I heard the band would expand and I heard it via news." and all accounts up till this said that. This BBW is such detective work of every article from everywhere.
Thanks for sharing this! Best wishes.
Each episode just seems to get better, I don't know how you do it, great job! The guitarist Kenny Vaughan who plays in Marty Stewart s band talks about being at the Denver Hendtix show on utube . Thanks Belly Button Window you rock! J.H.E. forever 🤟
Thank you! Your enjoyment is appreciated. Best wishes!
Kenny & Marty are class acts as is the whole band & just because they are country doesn't mean they don't the Rock scene nor Jimi . All pros & Kenny is one of the best around & well Marty is a jaw dropper when he he's hot & he's always that way .
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend ❤😊
Thank you so much! Best wishes to you also.
Very informative,in Maui some people talk about him like he played there last week,he made such a spiritual impression on people that could pick up on it,this series contributes greatly to his uniqueness in this world
Thanks for that! Take care!
Keep up the unique work of his life in his music remembrance, peace!!!!!!!
Thanks and best wishes!
I'm enjoying the whole series because I think at my age and a pro musician (67) I can project in retrospect some of the obstacles and hardships that go along with being so creative and young. Jimi was very special but his situation was extremely challenging. Thanks man.
Thank you very much. Glad you're enjoying it! Cheers.
Bonus pics of him playing Newport, I had a huge poster of that in mid 70’s. I noticed back then that his guitar neck is likely a tele instead of a strat. Look closely at the headstock. Definitely not a strat. Wonder where that ax is today!
Hopefully not in Noel Gallagher s house
Probably his usual white Strat with a temporary replacement neck for some reason.
@@thepirhomancer9745 I have heard of high end guitar shops making them for players and giving them to the artists. Experimenting maybe?
@@davidlee7722 Appears to be a stock Tele neck, they bolt on the same, hard to know why he swapped them, maybe the frets were worn, maybe it was damaged or maybe he just wanted to try a different neck? I have a Strat neck on my Tele right now! ✌️
@@thepirhomancer9745 The Stratwas damaged, and they had no replacement...so they had the tele neck grafted on to the body of the Strat...I have never heard as to where that unique guitar wound up!
What a great episode - although one can feel the pressure from and on all sides. Noel and Mitch's recollections are especially revealing and fascinating, as is the amazing review of the Newport jam taken from the "L. A. Image". Thank you, Belly Button Window!
Thank you so much! Cheers
@@BELLY_BUTTON_WINDOW You're more than welcome. Please keep up the excellent work.
I was there at the Waikiki Shell concert, got very close. I remember the gold pants and Far Mattress, Jimi was ON
Aewsome!
Another great video, thanks!
Many thanks! Cheers.
June 1969 . . . Noel's out and Billy Cox is in.
Billy had jammed in studio before June, with Hendrix. But this was all tentative, until Noel decided to split....Even then, Jimi was experimenting for a short while, trying out other musicians, but not seemingly knowing which way to turn.
Yep! Cheers.
Such a great episode! Hearing more about the people he jammed with blows me away. Johnny Winter playing with Jimi had to be incredible. Along with War and everyone else mentioned. I said this before but it's too bad Jack Casady wasn't his bass player. He's a true bass player rather than Noel who way preferred Gtr over bass and who wasn't grateful for getting the best gig he would have never gotten if it wasn't for Jimi and management!
I agree with everything you wrote, Jack Casady was amazing. And Noel was counting the dollars and opportunities ever since his first rehearsal with Jimi and Mitch when he requested bus fare to return for subsequent rehearsals. However, I'm not disparaging Noel, he was great for the Experience but back then everybody thought they were the next big thing and Noel was no exception.
Thank you so much! Cheers.
Thanks and best wishes!
As I've said elsewhere, Billy was actually Jimi's first choice for bassist when he arrived in England. Sadly, Billy was otherwise engaged at the time and couldn't take up the offer.
👍
Cheers Toney!
Was the live album that was to be released the one that was released as Hendrix In The West?
Yes, indeed!
Mike Jeffrey growing more evil by the moment.
True!
Jimi looked better with short hair
Strictly opinion...I liked the large Afro.
Cheers!
True!
@@curbozerboomer1773 My favourite look was the back-combed to insanity one, as in the famous Silverstein snaps, for example. Interestingly enough, the last photos of Jimi taken by Monika Dannemann in the garden of the Samarkand Hotel show Jimi with back-combed hair. Kathy Etchningham has mentioned that Jimi really cut his hair because it was in such a bad state from him constantly straightening it (which also stripped colour from it). In frustration, he chopped it and decided to start again, because he couldn't get the look that he wanted. Those aforementioned shots at the Samarkand would seem to lend credence to this. Both Kathy's account and Monika's pictures would further suggest that Jimi's responses when asked about his shorter hair were post-rationalisation or simply deeper, more interesting stories for the press.
@@Albrecht777 Jimi was impulsive in different ways. His reason for cutting his hair shorter, could be what you mentioned--or not.
Another Jimi Hendrix documentary without his music. Can this get anymore nauseous 🤢
Not for Jamie and the Experience Hendrix gatekeepers.
Hey my friend, if you want music I suggest visiting the official CZcams Channel:
Subscribe to the official Jimi Hendrix CZcams Channel: jimihendrix.lnk.to/subscribeYD
Also I’ve found that most channels that do have the music its almost always too loud and I struggle to hear the content. So keep it the way it is BBW
@BELLY_BUTTON_WINDOW that's not the point. The point is; a documentary without his music ruins the overall milieu/backdrop of the film. The ebb and flow, the very cadence of his music is what drives his life story. It is the very why of his existence. 80% of the conversation is within his music. If you don't agree, then that's on you.
@KingKull1971 It's probably due to the Hendrix family not allowing his music to be played w/o being paid. They're known for shutting down CZcams channels use of his music. If you don't want to hear about the history w/o music just move on. Nobody wants to hear your whining or cares about your opinion.
