- Chris enjoys an afternoon session on the River Great Ouse fishing for roach with seed baits.
Chris uses his very cheap Avanti pole to show just how easy it is to fish on a budget. Chopping and changing between hemp and tares on the hook, he gets stuck into some redfins and a few surprises!

Mark Carp thanks. Yeh the boats were a bit hectic. It wasn’t just pike grabbing those fish either, got the perch in a tight frenzy. Should have brought a lure rod!

Andy K Johnson Johnson thanks. It’s a pole I’ve had since I was a kid. At the time it cost about 50-80 I think and it’s 11m. Although it’s pretty unholdable at that length so I fish it at 6-8m generally.

I only fish for roach and use hemp and tare all the time , your feeding too much hemp that’s why you say you should be catching more than you are , feed just 4/5 grains , the way your feeding the roach don’t have to compete , slow the feed down your catch more roach mate ….
