Reading a bunch of academic sources didn't help me understand the sublime, THIS did. Thank you!
Same here !1!
The word sublime has clearly changed meaning since then. It doesnt mean that at all
I think it's not fear and terror but awe, maybe dread, that one feels when confronting the sublime.
I love the visuals!
I FINALLY UNDERSTAND!!! I finally understand theory!!!!
Echoes of Principal Skinner in that voice.
More than echoes... that's Harry Shearer himself.
+Tait Vigesaa who that?
@@JBCo2012 voice actor for Skinner I think
thank you!
It's a sublime and thrilling idea that you could make money publishing "A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful"--but I don't know for sure that he made money on it. Not to deride the concept. I'm jealous that anyone could afford to think and write about this stuff at length - but it also seems like he published it at age 18 which might change how I think of it.
amazing
Great video and very helpful!(although my eye was drawn to the Dalek throughout the video..)
great
Sublime
Were there videos part of another release? They're great.

It is. Your question just got me wonder. If you type bbc the history of ideas.
Greatly learned man was Endmund Burke.
This is a very useful tool in extolling the virtues of Brutalist architecture to those who refuse to see the sublimity of such buildings.
The Beatles are beautiful, Led Zeppelin SUBLIME!!
"Tomorrow Never Knows" or "Strawberry Fields Forever" both verge on the Sublime.
@@montyernst2617 "A Day in the Life" and "Norwegian Wood." Sublime as it gets.
Nigel sound a bit like Principle Skinner
I think
as opposed to the religious sublime, the awe one feels when believing that God is manifesting somehow
Edmund burk? What about Kant?
Fuck that guy, he was a kant :}
Sublime is a reminder of man's own insignificance. In comparison to a grand storm at sea, the squabbles at home seem insignificant & petty. Men should be grateful life can be so trivial.
So much for the sublime and the ridiculous.

no one cares
But should they?
I care-and it's important
