100% agree with Devi and her points! and team paxton. I feel like they both made each other grow and were good for each other. Plus the most iconic moments of this show are from them. Ill never forget the window kiss scene with the soundtrack. So glad she said that and i feel validated.
Agreed! Devi even remembers what he said and took it to heart "we can't be together till you love yourself" She grew alot and Paxton grew alot and they actually have a friendship that was healthy- like the basketball dude said to Ben you should be confused or spinning and dizzy by the person you like- the relationship should only add to you not take away and Paxton and devi added to each other bc they for once were okay in their own
I used to really like Ben for Devi, because of him driving her to to beach in earlier season. But after Paxton forgave Devi, I became team Paxton because I felt like that is very essential to make a relationship last. And although the previous season, I feel bad that Paxton and Devi broke up, but I agree about Paxton’s reason. They both needed to grow, and this season, I find them more suitable for each other, and I wanted them to get back together. They added more to each other and made each other better. With Ben, I feel like it was an honest love and that used to make me feel okay if Ben will end up with her, but honestly, I didn’t feel any connection between them this season, it felt more like a real and honest friendship and that’s it. I actually liked Ben with Margot. I feel like she was who Ben needed. Ben was right about him being with Devi makes things more complicated than it should be. With Paxton, I feel like it was more grounded and mature now that Devi had matured, and Paxton did, too. I feel organically, their characters journey calls for Devi ending up with Paxton. It just made more sense. I feel like Devi ending up with Ben made more sense seasons ago.
@Coleen Hernandez I'd also like to add that if she had stayed waitlisted, just to show not everything goes your way and just because she didn't make an ivy league doesn't mean it's the end of the world- she would have needed a school to go and I feel like she could have applied to ASU and obviously got accepted for spring just so she doesn't fall to far behind and then said she'd reapply next fall her and Paxton could have vibed.
This can't be the last season, man. Wanna see their college lives and how they all evolve and pursue their dreams . Plus, Kamala And Manish's wedding would be a treat to watch. And Nalini - Andres's relationship too, I ship 😍
Sameee I feel like they should show their college lives at least and then end it when they graduate from college i would be more satisfied with that kind of ending, oh well still pretty good ending, I also wished they could have shown a bit more of Ben and Davi in a relationship!
i was so sad that the only time we saw manish in the entirety of season 4 was that tiny clip of him and kamila in maryland at the very end. i kinda wonder why he wasn't in tho...

I know some will disagree with me but I scenes with Ben & Devi did not overall pull me in unlike the scenes with her Paxton. Like the scene with her & Paxton were magnetic regardless of the amount of dialogue in the scene. If feel like there is something missing when it comes to scenes with Ben & Devi. Like I like Her & Ben as friends but I don't them in the romantic sense.

Thank you, Maitreyi! I'm not necessarily against Ben and Devi's relationship. And yes, I also still do like the last season and Ben's character a lot. But I won't deny that I'm tired that the toxic enemies to lovers trope gets perpetuated through the show.
Everyone who says "Team Ben from the beginning" and who is romanticizing their interactions in the first season needs to grow a little. Did you not watch the first ~3 min of "He is just not that into you"? Enemies to lovers sets bad standards, and rarely ever happens in real life. I know the idea is romantic that you can fundamentally misjudge somebody at first and that there's something there that you didn't see before. But it's the exception in reality, not the norm.
It kinda works with NHIE because it's a tiny bit more like Pride & Prejudice in that Devi and Ben grow into becoming better people, they grow into a healthier relationship over a couple of years throughout the show. But they are also really, really young. 💁♀️

I cried watching the final episode, but honestly I feel like they could’ve done the final season for everyone else’s character A LOT better! I have a lot of real criticisms for the incomplete stories of many of the other characters outside of Devi and Ben. Most of the other characters and their stories were very flat and there wasn’t enough focus and development of them.
1) I wish they had shown and done a lot more with Paxton and that other teacher, Ms. Thompson and even his family and his sister
instead of just showing him and Trent and a bunch of party scenes. Too many of those scenes instead of showing him continuing to mature and have romance with the beautiful Ms. Thompson and even maybe spending time with his family who has barely been shown throughout the entire season.
2) Fabiola has never really had that great of a storyline outside of her awkwardness and development around her being queer and nerdy, which I also find a bit insulting that the only beautiful black girl gets to be the queer one and barely has any romance, and all of the hot guys go to Devi and sometimes Eleanor or other characters. I really wish her character’s arc and story had been more deep and interesting at this point than just her trying to figure out her college situation and not telling Devi she got into Princeton.
3) I would’ve also liked to seen Eleanor be with someone who had more going for themselves than someone like Trent, or at least really seen Trent really develop as a character.
4) Trent’s character has been the same all 4 seasons, which is such a complete waste. Why is he the same all four seasons and does he do absolutely nothing except hype Paxton and Eleanor up? His entire existence on the show seems pointless.
5) Nalini should’ve experienced romance with that other guy a lot sooner. It was ridiculous that it took the whole season before she was kissed and shown having an actual romance with the guy. Too much focus on the grandmother.
6) Kamala chasing around her grandmother the whole time was kinda weak, and we never saw her with Manish and developing more of their relationship and her career. It was again another waste.
7) I would like to see Dr. Ryan’s character developed outside of her sessions with Devi. Again, 4 seasons and all we ever see her do is have unscheduled sessions with Devi who is always interrupting her.
8) What really was the point of Ethan?? They really didn’t need that character either. He added nothing.
They wasted the opportunity and chemistry of Devi and Paxton.
Paxton deserve more screen time and if they don't want devi and paxton to be end game then why did they show all of us that last kiss and give all of us false hopes that kiss is not necessary 🥴 so Devi is that type of person who can kiss him after having emotional talking and still not feelings for him wow 👏

I'm gonna rewatch the show from Season 1. It feels wrong to like a teen show as a 35 year old.
Team Ben, but they kind of overdid it with the romance IMO. I'd like it more if he was more of a character than a romantic interest this season.
OTOH Paxton did great as a character in S4 and I kind of agree with this "better as friends" angle. The fact that Darren is over 30 and looks it and Maitreyi is a teenager and also looks like it, adds to it too.

No Ben and Devi are way more compatible personality wise and make more sense long term bc of their similar futures. I doubt Devi would settle with a dumb jock who peaked in high school. I feel like she was obsessed with his looks and didn’t have the same emotional connection as Ben

While it’s true that Ben and Devi also have a good friendship as a foundation (which is why I don’t mind them ending up together, just feel like Paxton would have been a better match imho and would have made more sense for me) and that most of their interests are the same, but compatibility aren’t always having the same interests. Sometimes, compatibility is about how you compliment each other - different enough that you challenge each other’s way of thinking and make them see another perspective different from their own, but with enough connection and understanding that you can both grow into your own person but not apart. The fact that Paxton was able to nudge Devi in the right mindset so she can move past her own hurt feelings and realize what’s the most important thing when she’s dealing with her issues with Fabiola shows how much they connect and understand each other now. And she might have started being interested in him because of his looks, but Paxton showed he’s more than just his looks and Devi came to see who he really is more than just his looks. And I won’t debate anymore with someone who calls Paxton “dumb” because he showed he can do better, if he worked hard on it. Plus, it’s not all about grades. He was able to guide someone to excel, which says a lot more about him than both Devi and Ben having high grades. Don’t get me wrong, I am not belittling what the hard work they did to get there, but life isn’t all about grades. It’s about making a lasting impact in someone else’s life, and I’d argue that Paxton may not be as smart as both Devi and Ben, but they both could learn a lot from Paxton about other things than are far more important in life especially after school - that they’re more than just their grades, and that grades aren’t the only basis of someone’s value. I think while Ben and Devi have the same personality, they are indeed toxic like Ben said and they make things more complicated than it has to be. For me, in my humble opinion, Ben and Margot had a mature connection, until things fell apart which felt so sudden and out of character. Ben and Devi together felt at times so chaotic. I don’t know, at some point, it feels like they could have made a better couple before Ben felt betrayed. After that, Paxton and Devi made a lot more sense for me, organically, with how I see their characters have developed after the two-timing incident.
Oh man, I could easily be persuaded to be on either team. But I think ultimately I'm team Ben. I think David idolized Paxton for way too long, and no matter what she will always have Paxton on a pedestal. Ben, on the other hand, is someone she hated and unconsciously fell in love with because of their growth together. That's the end game right there.
I’m team Paxton too, but I think the writers will root to the cliche way where she ends up with Ben just because he is the unpopular guy, and that sucks.

Ben loved Devi for all she was and that love was never shaken since season 1 no matter what he knew about Devi..but paxton only liked Devi because she was different and confident and pushed him not because he actually loved her..there wasnt that depth…ben unconditionally loves Devi and Devi is never gonna find someone like Ben…and ben is never gonna love someone more than he loves Devi…but paxton would…and Devi had an obsession with paxton just cause of looks it was not based in true love like ben’s love towards Devi was…and so that obsession comes from subconscious issues with Devi that she needed to heal and when she did she realised that she never really loved Paxton, and the only reason they stayed friends is because of all of the history and them actually supporting eachother and Devi helping Paxton etc…but if Devi never approached Paxton at all then after she healed she would’ve just never had Paxton in her life cause there would be reason too after she realized she does not actually love him and nothing actually happened between them for them to stay friends or anything…so nothing beats team ben…that kind of love is rare especially in high school for someone to love you and everything about you and no matter what flaws you think you have their love never wavers it only strengthens, that kind of love is once in a lifetime and so team Devi and ben for life and for sure they will stay together even after college and maybe for the rest of their lives..they might have fights or end up with different careers but they would always find their way back to each other because simply they would never be able to find that kind of love or forget it…Also Paxton and Devi were more of a karmic relationship like it existed just to teach them lessons about themselves so that they can heal quicker and that “romance” wasn’t really real because it was just there until they realised the lessons and healed after that the romance dissipated…and they remained friends which is the healthy ending to such relationships so that both can move on with pure hearts without starting another karmic cycle for themselves

I kind of swipped swapped with Team ben vs Team paxton. Paxton had no depth in the beginning and was just hot and that was about it so I was team Ben. But then when Devi and Paxton actually started dating and the things he did for her, then I was definitely team paxton. But then after they broke up I went back to Team ben because they have so much more in common and really challenge each other academically and just in life in general.

I feel like IRL a Paxton would never end up with a Devi, despite her epic gorgeousness! So why we couldn't have gotten that in this fantasy land of a fake TV show is BEYOND me! I mean Paxton GREW! He was far from just the pretty boy, stereotypical jock we met in season 1. And a good much of that was due to Devi's influence......the good & the tragic/chaotic/cringey energy that she brought into his life.
