- During a motorcycle camping trip into Cumbria I stayed for two nights at Caldbeck Camping campsite, located in the Lake District National Park in the village of Caldbeck.

On this trip I’m using my MSR Elixir1, an initial review of which can be seen here:

The motorcycle is a Honda CB500X and full modifications can be found here:

Love the open face helmet. I prefer them although TT time I switch to a full face. 👍
Although I ride open face the majority of time and love it, feeling that wind on the open road…bliss! These Shark helmets can be ridden open or closed and on motorways I always ride full face… second one I’ve had!
Great review, thank you. When I get another bike very soon I plan to do some camping. This looks a perfect spot so I will definitely try it at some point.
Great site, pub and location.. enjoy when you get riding again 👍🏻
Lovely campsite. I love the CB500X, especially that years model. Much better looking than the new NX500.
Yes, really nice and lovely village.. I better sick my head above the parapet and let you know I’ve changed to the NX…. Loving it 😬 😂
@@thecampingbiker791 Oh no.......why? You have gone from a good looking bike to an ugly bike with not even anymore power. Big mistake.
Ive stayed a couple of times there and think the reason for the pitching is to keep the family tents or ones with kids further away from the houses
@@stephenwharrior5835 good point Stephen, nice little site and love that bit of Cumbria
Thanks Andrew, great video as usual.
Cheers Valentino 👍🏻
Another nice gem Andrew, Do love a free shower. I do also get annoyed at the some of the funny little rues that some campsites have, but i suppose if there werent rules and the place is busy it would be caos. Would be good for a stop off on a mini tour i think.
Yes, was a bit funny re the picnic bench and I do hate being allocated a pitch… but the site is still worth a visit and pub is ace 👍🏻
Just booked this for June .4 nights £32 looked for a review and there you are giving the thumbs up, how far is the local pub ? Great review as always, how’s the new bike going ? All the best.
Great price… pub is a gentle 5 mins stroll.. campsite is right on the edge of village but very small village and it’s a good pub! New bike is shaping up nicely, everything the 500X was but enhanced… just running it in but a bit slower than expected as my wife has fractured her ankle so I’m running around after her 😂
@@thecampingbiker791 my partner has no fracture & im always running around for her,😂🤣, cheers Andrew all the best my friend ride safe .👏🏴✊KTF.
@@neilwilliams9844 😂 😂 enjoy Caldbeck
Hi Andrew, great review as always and really enjoyed your European tour. With a lot of the UK campsites you visit do you need to book ahead of or do they allow you to turn up on the day without prior notice ,especially if you have a small one-man tent? Cheers, Michael
Hi Michael, I never pre book ahead, other than sometimes I’ll make a quick phone call on the day to see how busy they are! In all my travels I’ve never been turned away and most campsites will squeeze a solo motorcycle and small tent in even if busy and indeed on couple of occasions have done. I like the flexibility with not booking as can change my mind even if on route to a site I want to visit. I spend time in the winter researching sites on google maps for sites that I’d prefer using and at that point discount many on price, that way I’ve always got some options at hand when going to an area. I even used google maps when on the recent trip to Europe, just works for me as can stop for a coffee and search the area while chilling out with coffee and cake 😃
That's good to know, thanks for the reply
