    Wow, this video is a life saver. Thanks for taking the time to film it. My daughter knocked the passenger side mirror off her 2002 330CI and I had no idea what to do. This video make it so easy to take off. Thank you for saving me several hundred dollars at the BMW dealer!! I subscribed and shared on Google+

    Thanks so much, bimmermerchant! I am no mechanic but your video showed me all I needed to do, and mirror replacement went perfectly. Only comment I have is (at least on the 323ci) I didn't find it necessary to renmove all the connectors after removing the door frame. I just propped the frame on some boxes below the open door, and had plenty of room to deal with the mirror replacemernt job. Thanks again!!

      Peter Bower Thanks for your support and feedback. As with any DIY video, there is always more than one way to get job done. We try to be as specific as possible so we can relate to everyone. Many times steps we cover are not required but we show them anyway so it can help someone who wants to take that extra step. In any case, good job.

    Excellent Video. I appreciate your precautions and attention to detail. I started to replace my mirror assembly using another video and broke the mirror because the other video left out too many details. I think everyone will appreciate this video.

    Great video. Especially about popping the top one first then crucially pulling up - otherwise people will break the second pin holder.

    Had a cyclist knock my mirror today, I was stationary he went up the inside, totally did not see the mirror. He did a loop the loop onto the road. Nothing broken on my mirror except it moves a little, the black triangle part that from your video has the 3 bolts that go onto the door part. Great video as it shows me what might have snapped inside as it moves 20% cheers.

    You should push on the wiring grommet from the inside to get it out, rather than just pulling on the wires. I don't see any necessity to pop the two plastic rivets, at the bottom and near the hinge, before prising off the triangular cover.

    There is always a way as long as there is some patience. If the clips holding the rear cover the frame are broken,best way to put back would be to use some clear glue or caulk to hold in place.

  • @JayBearjaysbigadventure

    Thanks for the great video! I might suggest a good LED photography light to help illuminate what you're working on. I use mine on a tall tripod and it really helps. My channel deals with my E46 M3, K1600GT and a host of other likely suspects, lol. I'm starting a series on how to buy and sell cars, and E46s are a GREAT platform as they're cheap, reliable and the parts are easily available used. My neighbor called and said her husband knocked the passenger side mirror off their '01 325iC yesterday, and I'm about to embark on this process myself. Not breaking the clips will be important. Ya saved my bacon, bro... -jaysbigadventure

    Hello there thank you for sharing this valuable video. I have a question I broke my passenger side mirror cover ('04 330ci conv.) Is there a way to show how to install a new side mirror cover assuming the frame is also broken?(I will glue it to the car because it still is operable.) Thanks in advance.

    Think you need to get the rubber holder through hole first,then should not brake ribbon connectors.

    • @fusionstyle67
      @fusionstyle67 Před 8 lety

      There's a decent youtube video out that shows it. You can (carefully) pry the mirror off from the front, then undo the clips from the inside. Push the black part of the clip away from the colored part. There are 4 clips total.

      The cover prys off with a wide wedge: best wider than a big screwdriver. The tough part is not to damage the mirror cover. It' s probably worth it to buy a plastic panel remover or pry bar

    Hi man!
    Do you know can I install the mirror in my BMW 325ci 2001 y from bmw other years?
    And from BMW CI and I the same mirror or not?
    Thanks!

    • @bimmermerchant
      @bimmermerchant  Před 7 lety +1

      2-door coupe/convertible models side view mirrors won't fit 4-door sedan models. Mounting brackets are different.

      I have the exact same vehicle (BMW 325ci 2001) as the original commenter and am trying to find a replacement for one of my broken mirrors. I was about to go to a pick and pull car lot and get the mirror off of a 4-door sedan 325i to replace it, and you just saved me the trouble of not having it fit.
