- Engine troubles on the C-46 during the valley run force Devan to shut down an engine. High winds wreak havoc for Devan and his crew on another C-46 mission to help clean up an oil spill in the Northwest Territories. Scott trains on a CL-215 waterbomber and visits his mentor Arnie, then joins the waterbombing crews when Buffalo is called in to fight a massive fire in Alberta.

Flying a C-46 makes great pilots ,all hand flown and lots of decision making. These guys will be some of the best airline pilots no doubt
I've always wanted to fly a C-46. I'm considering getting my pilots license, and I know pilots just aren't up to snuff like they used to be back in the day, with everything being automated, or learning to fly on planes that practically fly themselves like the Cessna's.
I figured flying a plane like the C-46 for a few years would get me a lot of technical, and mechanical knowledge that would make me a great pilot.
Having multiple type ratings, years as a captain and a Gold Seal CFI, Devin has no business being in the left seat. A calm demeanor is absolutely necessary, and constructive tone is essential. I’ve been watching this show for years, and flying trips with guys like him used to make me hate my job.
Because he's not calm.. or level headed?
@@Softail77us Yep.
Remember the old saying. There are old pilots, there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots. Cocky crews have caused more crashes than you can think of. For example, Delta 1141, where the crew blatantly ignored the sterile cockpit protocol, or an Air Canada flight (forget the number) where the crew made a bet on who could land the plane the latest. Or Avianca 52, where the crew brazenly ignored the severity of their fuel situation.
@@TheEmeraldMenOfficial He hated teaching. I've had to learn from guys like him (in a different field) and it was awful cause the slightest question to what he was saying caused him to get more impatient and that made it harder yet to learn..
I'm sure if I flew them C46s I'd be stressed out my head, Devin is snappy because there is no room for error on that machine and he handles every emergency on them 46s like a pro, it's for Larry's own good it will make him a better pilot like the chap a bit slow to be co pilot of that 46
It’s really funny right when I clicked on this episode I was wondering how Arnie was doing that dude is a legend!!Man oh man Devon a good Pilot
Right on Saigon.
It was good to see the C46 Pilots especially Larry didn't panic, well done to everybody 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Tremendous amount of PROFESSIONALISM!! Demand exactly what you MUST -- NO EXCUSES!!
R I P Arnie Schrader
@Mera Andaaz Tv but why does that matter? Kinda disrespectful on a memorial comment
Oh Arnie... God Bless
Arnie: just grand! God bless, indeed!
Life lived on a Wing and a Prayer...the most exciting,
nail-biting 40 something
minutes on The boob tube...
It was nice not having Joe shooting off his mouth during this episode. You can fly over or around smoke. They needed to ask for clearance to fly over it before they got into it. Pilots can ask if they can deviate from their flight plan. I'm guessing they flew through the smoke for visual effect.
That’s part of the show. Lol
What’s the name of YOUR aircraft Co?
Devon needs CRM training... actually Larry does too. The demonstrated power gradient in this cockpit was very unhealthy, potentially dangerous if not potentially catastrophic.
Joe is like the Johnny Cash of flying. Good man.
Thank you so much for the early upload we used to watch at 1 AM
Fantastic, thank you for sharing! 💞
They do not say what was wrong with the #2. A friend was on flying sates on C47s. Coming back from Prestwick they had a #1 do that for a few seconds oil pressure flickered then dropped to zero as the prop with nose dome departed. Sometimes they do not warn you at all.
They said # 1 had içe in the engine. It surged.
What do you suppose they torqued those bolts too ? 😂
If you think the instructor pointing out a mistake is him "making you look like a fool" then perhaps you're just not cut out for flying.
The fact that he hasn’t given up means he’s cut out for flying…😉
Devon actually has got pretty bad CRM
In fairness Larry made himself look like a fool by not being able to navigate right but you mistakes as a lesson to learn from.
So, what ratings does Larry have?
Months earlier he was a ramp rookie!
😂😂🤣🤣
i like the getting maried in the DC3 its little things like that ,that are big things in the lives of all involved.
the close up of the gauges look off
I’m not trying to be a snob, but I DEFINITELY prefer that English accent guy narrator 😂
I can't stand him
@@Northern_Farmer to each their own.
I love a nice British accent 👍
@@toniroberts8117 how about an Irish accent lol 😉
“Boom boom boom real quick” - when shutting an engine down?….?… these guys have very poor cockpit discipline
Nice episode!
A walk around inspection is not enough for a multi engine fault.
Gonna be honest, I clicked this because I saw a Newfoundland water bomber and I was wondering what the heck one of our water bombers was doing in a show filmed across the country from us. Seems like it was a stock image, which is even crazier to me since NOBODY ever seems to even notice Newfoundland unless they’re going to see Come From Away or lived here at some point.
Nice video
I didn't know buffalo was still a thing. Are these old episodes or is this one new? It would be nice to have a date on the show or a way to know when this was.
These are old ones from like 10 years ago. But still fun to watch .
These are old. But Buffalo is still a thing. They actually just purchased a 737-300BCF
Intense...
i like the C-46
They'll push on through...push on throuuuggggghhhhh...these aeroplanes....speeding in the fast lane...push on throoooouuuuuuggggghhhh
These guys don’t seem to have any knowledge of CRM. Look like a bunch of cowboys! If they are really like this how come the aviation authority does not shut them down?
AJ is their best younger pilot. Devon had some issues it seems. I would watch him. He is no Arnie.
Do airplanes get paint scratches ? Random question popped in my mind 🤣🤣
Yep. In the air ice coming off the props hitting the fuselage and movement off aircraft and vehicles on the ground.
Yeah lol
That c -46..a tube has it cover on
First thing should have done is head to the nearest suitable landing area 😂😂🤣🤣
Damn, I thought it was "Mayday, Air Disaster". I need some 90s CGI, not "Jersey Shore on Ice"
Yeah, I felt like I was watching one of those Fox dramas (Kardashian's or whatever), or some of those on History Chanel like the "Appalachian Outlaws." 😄
what to say ....bad maintenance, limited instructor skills, why is this place still flying? I have 34000 hours :) and am a test pilot
Exactly what I thought.
new episode?
what happened to the dc-4?
replaced by the Electras. Fuel is an issue and the Electra is a Jet turboprop that can carry more and uses a fuel that is readily available.
Teenagers flew these all the time when new
I think he was scared of shitless clearly he was almost cried on television on CZcams
Because Devon got his jollies destroying that young co pilots confidence, he completely corrupted the mood and airmanship on that flight deck. The captains arrogance and immaturity jeopardised the safety of the entire crew, plane and cargo on that flight. It takes much more than the ability of flying an air plane to being a captain or any crewman in the cockpit.
Leesss ggpoo
But you almost were right when you lost an engine and your normal spouse "of them you can fly on one engine on every aircraft side aheaircraft side a jet
What
These guys/company are reckless. Not wise a aviation decisions. No wonder the FAA grounded the owner. The risk they decided to take with living souls on board. There own.
The FAA is in America not Canada
0 fatal accidents on record though…
Not only that, you’ve clearly never lived in the North of Canada. Without these guys, those people couldn’t exist there. Just because they use old aircraft to keep costs lower, doesn’t mean they’re unsafe. They have a proven safety record.
trusting a toothless mechanic ? NOPE !
