I like the smart, sarcastic MJ in the MCU. The MJ in the comics is literally supermodel attractive (in the sense that she has worked as a model on the international level, literally a supermodel). She introduces herself to Peter when Aunt May sets them up on a date (she's the next-door neighbor's daughter) by saying "Face it, Tiger, you've hit the jackpot." She has the one super-power Spidey has never had: self-confidence. The problem is that Peter never really seems to feel like he's worthy of her or on her level. This version has a lot in common with Peter and they seem like they'd actually be a great couple.
Both have great dynamics. She has a lot of self confidence but she needs the humility and support Peter gives her. Everyone worships her for being hot but he treats her in his usual unique fashion. The original relationship is DEFINITELY more fairy tale and the chances of it happening are much more in the jackpot range than this one. But they work just as well all the same.
I like to think this mj eventually grows up into the classic mj from the comics and those make the relationship more organic so to speak. From akward teenagers to confident adults probably end up married in the future
They're not the same MJ in the first place. This is Michelle Jones, not Mary Jane Watson. So I think it's good they chose to create a new character.
It should be noted that originally gwen Stacy was supposed to be Peter's main love interest, not mj. But fans liked mj more so they decided to make them the main couple. I like to think that this sort of forced coupling is why Peter and mj break up multiple times.

It's also a bit of foreshadowing because at the end there's a news broadcast saying Peter Parker is Spiderman.
I think this is the spider man we need, I mean someone who has a girlfriend and is not struggling with i-need-a-girlfriend troubles and so I just don't want MJ to die cause I really like her character and I really really don't want Marvel to be like Harry Potter where jk Rowling just made so many people die. But I still love Harry Potter. And of course Marvel too.
