Anyone else notice, that throughout all 3 season, picard voice was that of a old man, strong but soft spoken, but when he boarded the enterprise D , his voice changed to the strong, decisive picard we know and love.
Back where he belongs. Probably makes the crew feel younger also.
I always wonder more. How the actors took to actually being on that bridge again. Had to be a renewing life.
@@Mysticales they are all very close friends in real life too. They are all "family" which is great to see
He still has a strong voice. Been playing an older Picard for years (s1 and 2 and a lot of3) now. But still has Captain Picard the speech maker in him.
See Dr Strange and the Multiverse… he’s still got booming Shakespeare in there.
He even picard manuvered
I imagine Scotty looking at Geordi and going, "Only the Chief Engineer o' the Enterprise could bring her back to life after she was destroyed, lad."
I think Scotty made a really big impact on Geordis life on that episode afterwards.
Aye
New headcanon, Scotty died before Picard takes place but he was helping Geordi restore the Enterprise D, and maybe help maintain his old love, the Enterprise A
@@DocKerns In canon, Scotty was partially responsible for the Sovereign-class.
@@DocKerns - perhaps even living in his old quarters on the NCC 1701A..
That moment when Picard says "Engage!" The slow turn with the planet in the background, the musical build up, with humanity's existence on the line, there's only one last hope, one last chance to win!!! The Enterprise cracks the skies with a thunderous boom as she one again races to face destiny!!! This moment was PERFECTION!!!!!!!!
The slow turn also matched the enterprise d painting
The painting and other various hints were a massive foreshadow to the big reveal,as soon as I saw that painting and Geordi’s daughter mention hangar 12 I knew it was coming especially after season 2 reveals the saucer was at the fleet museum,I wonder how instrumental the enterprise D was in getting starfleet back up and running in the year leading up to her final retirement and return to the fleet museum, that last shot of her looks like she was fixed up and cleaned properly for display
She’s doing what she does best…saving the galaxy.
Amen, to that, Our childhood....and it was pure perfection.
The new ships jump to warp with a small pyoop.
The old D you hear the roar of her power building, and then with a hiss and a crack of power as the ship literally forces spacetime out of the way, she leaps away.
For reference, this is like a twin-turbo tractor trailer cab racing a F1 car.... and winning.
When the Queen saw this ship approaching the cube she was like "well, shit."
Her literally reaction to see the Enterprise D flying around in the Cube is like no no no it’s the Enterprise
I like the idea of Geordi being the galactic equivalent of an old dude restoring his first car in his garage as a retirement project
1:12 - 1:24
"Hello, Geordi, Worf, Deana, Beverly, Data, Will and of course Jean-Luc. It is great to see you again, my friends and I'm ready to help you one last time in your hour of need." - Enterprise
"Oh and thanks for not bringing Wesley."
thats beautiful and exactly what i've always thought she would say if she could, or something along the lines of "I'm here my friends to give one last helping hand."
"hey guy's and girls, look what geordi did, he rebuilt me"
ONE YEAR LATER: "Enterprise, sleep well until the Federation needs you once more."
When I saw that familiar silhouette, and the lights shown upon the title above her bow, along with a bit of that familiar intro theme from TNG, a few tears actually welled up in my eyes. This ship, the Enterprise D, is a symbol of my childhood - OUR childhood. All of us from the late 80's and the early 90's remember her well. And it's great to see her fly once more.
I remember first seeing the silhouette too and was like "No fucking way!"
@@kfures3469
When I saw her, Aerosmith's "Back In The Saddle" popped into my head.
I have always been more of a refit fan over the D but it was awesome to see her fly again. Generations did her dirty and this was a triumphant return. The end she deserved.
The "D" in all her glory! UTTERLY AMAZING!
She looked better than ever...OH HELL YEAH.

I'm a grown man and throughout season 3 I cried like a baby probably 4-5 times. The joy of this scene was uncontrollable. TNG was one of the only 4-5 shows my entire family watched when I was growing up, so having the old crew together brought back a lot of wonderful memories from the early 1990s.
"Strange, I feel...."
"You're not the only one, Data."
I think we can all agree with Troi.
Troi's probably hoping the fandom will go easy on her now for crashing the Enterprise🤣
I was hoping she would say “young,” as in “young, as when the world was new.”
When Picard was back on that bridge, the frail old man disappeared. The Captain was back on HIS bridge, and he made sure everyone knew it. Loved the return of the old command presence. Great touch.
There is without a doubt a truly momentous feeling seeing the D . It gives those of us who sat through every movie the next generation kicked out. I went to all the next Gen movies and yes I even cried when she was destroyed. And I even cried in this scene. To be honest I'm Navy and at one point in my life I truly wanted to serve on the USS ENTERPRISE CVN-65. however I served on USS SEATTLE AOE-3. I GET emotional about Navy ships. As I get emotional about ol glory. .. truly seeing the D fly one more time brought tears to me. Even if it's a tv show. It has to do with the heart ladies and gentleman. Those of us who truly loved this show and her movies... God bless everyone.
Months later, and I still completely lose it. This was my ship. I grew up watching TNG from start to finish. It's true what they say, you will never forget your first love. And the Enterprise-D was my first Star Trek ship.
Data: "Strange. It makes me feel...."
Troi: "You're not the only one Data."
Indeed. Even brought a tear to my eye too. Who else comes in to save the day at the last moment. It's the Enterprise!
My wife is truly passionate about next generation. If there's a complete day where they air all the episodes she will get in her recliner and not get out until they are all done.. lol. Even though we have every DVD of the show and all the movies... lol
We know Star Trek is and always has been an ensamble cast, but Enterprise has always been the franchises leading lady.
That's what I loved about this, when Matalas said that they couldn't get the whole TNG crew back together without bringing back the Enterprise-D. He understood that the Enterprise was as much of a character as anyone else.
I'm 39 years old,and seeing that wonderful ship again, brought some joy to my life...🥲
When he said: "Computer, lights" I'm not ashamed to admit,I had few tears in my eyes 😅
One of the most awesome and beautiful moments,in my life!😁
same, i grew up watching next gen and the D was my first love, starship wise.
@@nick5661 I drew pictures of Enterprise,in the classroom, when I was a kid 😅
That moment, when the D comes out of the dock and picard giving orders with a strong voice.... 😢
i noticed that. he sounded like the younger picard
He was in the comforts of home
If a ship had a soul. The captain and the ship are back together reborn.
This clip will go into the Star Trek hall of frame history
God I miss the old days!
When Geordi’s girls would say “Dad you need a hobby!”
They had no idea.
Well one of them definitly knew because she talked about hangar 12
There was just something about the old Enterprise D leaving space dock for one last adventure with the music blaring that was the best part of this entire show for me
I never get tired of seeing her pulling out of space dock.
Either saving Earth or saving Spock there's nothing like the Enterprise in her full glory.
It's the power of that muscal score that does it for me, i get emotional every damn time.
goosebumps evytime
I hear you...I have watched this scene at least a dozen times and still need Kleenex every time.
Yep, the short Generations cadence as they come out of the turbolift. Goosebumps
44 Years old.... This Scene... For 30 Minutes a Teenager again. Wonderful
Must have seen this at least 20 times already, still get choked up.
20? Those are rookies number!
I’m with you buddy, this hits every single emotional button in my brain all at once.
You're not alone
This last season really makes up for the other two seasons. I hate to say it now that I'm nearing 40, but this was my Star Trek, and I can't tell you how many times I've watched the episodes, but this got me choked up seeing the D finally get to strut her stuff. The Galaxy Class was the flagship of the fleet for a reason, and we finally got to see why.
Right there with you. Getting to see all the hero ships we grew up with in this season, it made me cry like a baby.
Same here.
I'm 51 mate, and I got all misty eyed this season, especially seeing the Old Girl get a chance to strut her stuff again. Only problem, is now i want more!
@@nigelmilne3503 I found myself wanting to see more of the TNG cast and the Enterprise-D. The Last Generation felt like a pilot for a TNG Season 8. I have no desire what-so-ever to see Jack, Seven of Nine, Raffi and their lightbulb challenged ship again.
No it does not. It was still horrible and a massive disservice to the old shows. They need to stop being trapped in the past and create something new that can stand on its own...what is season 4 going to be the new ultra Cardassians? Going to magically bring Gul Ducat back along with Quark and 5 other characters from old shows trying really hard to cling to relevance? Anything to not create new characters, races and plots because that is just too damn hard today. I am starting to wonder if Disney bought out the rights to Star Trek because it is literally so low it can be directly compared to the trite low effort "content" they have been churning out for Star Wars and Marvel.
This was NOT fanservice. This was proper FULL CIRCLE. The proper wrap up. Exactly what we needed.
It's exactly what we wanted, absolutely. I wouldn't have minded if we had it for LONGER...like...several episodes worth...but it's ok. This was an AWESOME reveal.
hehe amen to that dude true full circle indeed with dignaty and at least like Jim Kirk's tmp Enteprise be for her This Enteprise got the true send off that she deserved and the retirement to the fleet museum alongside the others and to complete as u said the true proper Full Circle.

Oh it's not just the ship. The warmly well-lit bridge, the reunited crew, the swell of the Star Trek music... It all comes together. What a tear jerker.

It’s been a month and this 35 year old TNG fan keeps playing this scene and soundtrack loud and on repeat. I smile, get goosebumps, and even get a little misty eyed every time. Such an awesome and emotional moment.
It reminds me of my youth. Of my childhood. Star Trek TNG healed some tough times for me.😊
Kirk loved his ship more than Picard cared for this one. Not to mention Kirk had to end the 1701 on purpose. THAT was heartbreaking. The D went down because someone sneezed near the warp core and it had its 193rd random warp core breach.
These sudden deep feelings for the D from this crew were wholly manufactured for this cheap shot. Picard had no problem walking around in the ruins of it 30 years ago, "Oh well, they'll name some more ships Enterprise. Dems da breaks." He and Data were more worried about a cat and a photo album. I imagine the rest of the crew were even less concerned for the ship itself.

Will forever be thankful to Terry Matalas for fixing the gigantic gaping cavernous hole that Star Trek Generations left behind.
This is still my favorite part of Picard Season 3. Seeing the Enterprise-D back in all its glory. And with the original bridge that actually had more than one lightbulb for the whole thing! The attention to detail was absolutely top notch too. Geordi mentioned that he hadn't been able to completely finish up the hull work and sure enough, the scorch marks on the front of the saucer section from its atmospheric entry & crash landing on Veridian III are still there. Plus, Geordi mentions getting the "engines and nacelles" from the USS Syracuse, although what he was referring to was literally the entire stardrive section. Showing, once again, that Geordi hadn't had time to finish up his work on the ship yet, the stardrive section is actually a bit of a different shade from the saucer section and in certain shots you can see that it still has the Syracuse name & registry on it. They really knocked it out of the park on this one with the details.
Then, a year later, it's obvious that Starfleet gave Geordi whatever resources he needed in order to finish the job of restoring the Enterprise-D. Because when it's at the Fleet Museum in its final resting place, the scorch marks are gone from the saucer and the entire ship is now the same shade. Presumably, they would have put the Enterprise-D name & registry on the stardrive. Although, I think it would be a really cool touch if they placed the dedication plaque from the Syracuse in main engineering as a sort of nod to the stardrive section's origin.
After the Fronter Day PR disaster and the D saving the day?
What Geordi wants, _Geordi gets._ And he _got._
Given the state of the fleet after the Frontier Day disaster, it wouldn’t surprise me if 1701-D had been on active duty for at least part of the time before she was retired. Oh my God, if there is a Picard Season 4 ….
I started tearing up when the old big "D" left Bay 12 and headed off into warp.
It was fantastic seeing her fly again after 29 years.
Good things! 👍
When the chips are down and all seems hopeless in the Federation, there is always one ship that rises to the occasion. A ship that shines like a beacon even in the darkest of times. A ship that stands for what is good, right, and worth defending. May history long remember the name, "Enterprise."
Enterprise D: Hello old friends, What's the mission?
Picard: The borg have taken over starfleet. We are all that's left to take on the borg.
Enterprise D: Say no more. Old girl my ass, I'll show them who's old news.
best character nobody was expecting to come back.
I love Picards "Oh yes - She'll fly". Shows that after 30 years, he has nothing but faith in the Grand Old Lady of the fleet. Reminds me of Commander Adama with Galactica at her decommissioning. He took her into battle without a second thought for her ability to throw a punch and take a few. Two Grand Old Ladies of their respective fleets, standing up when needed, and proving that technological progress means fuck all
Let us make sure that history never forgets the name Enterprise. So say we all.
One of the things that made me chuckle was when, on the Titan, they refer to the Enterprise D as ancient. Its still a galaxy class, 2 times as big as the Titan, and armed to the teeth. Grand old Dame, but with very big teeth. Oh and of course, when she took to the stars again I cheered and cried.
The best/worst part of that is when the two ships are side by side at the end and the Enterprise STILL looks more advanced than the Titan.
@@CaptainSpadaro That's intentional. Starfleet is harkoning back to 'the good old days', the days of Captain Kirk, Sulu and the TOS/TMP era. Where they WEREN'T needing excessive amounts of weapons just to explore the universe.
And seeing as the Constitution III is just a rebuild of the 2280s-90s Shangrila-Class...
@@housecoatgaming except it's larger than that class by a couple orders of magnitude, unless we're getting the refit Connie resized to conform to the DIS/SNW version...
Not "armed to the teeth" but I think more armored than the Titan, definitely.
The Galaxy class is ancient in a way, as the ship development since 2365 and 2400 was really fast compared to before. So the Galaxy was in a way ancient, from another time, from the time before the Dominion war, when, as Picard said it in Movie 9, "we were scientists and not warriors"
Every fan of TNG was in tears when the Enterprise D returned!
I’m so glad Picard finished so incredibly strong. What a perfect send off for the next generation crew
They all thought she was "dead."
She took such a hard blow during the landing in order to protect all of them from the impact. Call me sentimental but when I see her "death scene" in Generations I see her protecting the crew and company. The fact that Picard mentioned "light casualties", but no deaths meant she did her job right back then.
Seeing her again, it's like seeing a beloved family member after such a long time to them
The music kicks up a notch when the Enterprise starts moving. I keep replaying it.
And that cymbal crash right at the start. Probably my favorite arrangement of that music, with the original with the Enterprise in Space Dock from TMP being right there. Quite the musical fanfare for the return of the D.

am i alone in thinking that patrick stewart de-aged like 10yrs just from stepping foot on the Enterprise-D?
That was on purpose I believe. He's at home. Understands where he's standing.
He was kinda lost and out of track of the recent events and newer stuff. I think Patrick played his character as old, depressed, and unhappy, with signs of aging and tiredness, but once you put him where he used to be, it's like going back in time.
Extra detail - that's her original dedication plaque from 1987. Matalas had it reinstalled on the rebuilt bridge for filming.
Not quite the original one from 87 but from the mid-series change. I am real curious where that original one that used the Commbadge mold from the show.
Undoubtedly the most emotional scene in all of SciFi. I didnt realize just how badly I needed to see this exact moment.

I smiled, I cried a little bit, and I was happy as hell to see the old girl back on the scene. Thanks Geordi. Mr. Scott would be smiling with joy. Go get em Big D!!!!!
Years ago I had the chance to see a "replica" of my father's old 71 Oldsmobile. It was another car, but sitting in that car brought back a lot of memories I thought were long gone. That was a really great feeling.
The old girl still looks good. Seems that everytime I watch this, someone is cutting onions. That jab at Worf about E was hilarious
What exactly even HAPPENED with the Enterprise E + Worf? :D
@@kaeajaWe dont know for sure, but the rumor is there was some incident where a small fleet which the E was a part of was hacked and taken over. The Federation ships then fired on one other, and the E was apparently nearly destroyed. That is the really beta canon possible explanation, but who knows.
@@davidmacy411You’re actually referring to the last 2 episodes of Prodigy Season 1. I believe the writers said that Prodigy and Lower Decks are considered canon.
Most old people grab an old car to restore. Geordi decided to restore a starship
A 42 deck starship.
My headcanon is that in the year before she returned to the museum the Enterprise resumed her role as Federation Flagship while Starfleet licked its wounds and set things back to right. The old lady projecting strength and experience in a time of crisis until it was time for her to finally exit stage right.
People stationed on board. "Hey, these rooms are COMFORTABLE! And everything is well lit! Why was my previous ship so dark and moody?"
With Capt Riker finally getting to have his time in the Big Chair.

My belief is the Syracuse lost it's own saucer during the Dominion War. All Geordi had to do was make sure the docking clamps on the Ds saucer weren't too busted up and, voilà.
Whether or not this link will show, can't say - but as with most videos I post on this channel, it's supporting an answer I wrote on Quora... which discusses the how and why of Syracuse etc.: qr.ae/prf5QO
My first thought came to one of my favorite moments in DS9: the Second Battle of Chin'toka.
I do _not_ like the Defiant-Class and was more then happy to watch the Defiant die, but during that scene, one Galaxy was missing her saucer section and drifting.
The Syracuse is a perfect fit. But also consider we haven't seen a single Galaxy-Class starship in active service since Endgame.
Starfleet could have also _mass retired_ the class and outright replaced them with the more tactically focused and advanced Ross-Class, which is basically just a more advanced Galaxy, if...not exactly aesthetically pleasing, seeing as the Syracuse hull is so _clean._
It hasn't been established yet in the lower it could have very well just as easily been intact after it was decommissioned but then the saucer gets recycled and the only thing Jordy needed was to Star Drive and accessories
@@housecoatgaming According to STO, the USS Galaxy is still ticking 55 years later in 2411, and has been upgraded to Venture specs with triangular Sovereign-look escape pod hatches.

The galaxy class is still one of the most beautiful. Grew up watching TNG, chills all over.
Greatest sci-fi spaceship of all time.
ST: TNG was the first Star Trek that got me into Star Trek.
The greatest enterprise i my opinion a ship designed for peace but when called for would defend those who could not defend themselves
I cried during this whole scene.Gretting to my favorite ship in Starfleet was so emotional for me.I have always loved the USS Enterprise NCC-1701D.
I remember when I first saw this...I had to slap myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. NCC-1701-D...she's such a beautiful ship and seeing her again made me cry tears of joy.
She was the last original cast member to return...
And her entrance was glorious.
A lot of the ship designs from the TNG era just stood the test of time beautifully. They still hold up and imo look better than the new ships they've come up with to replace them.
I love the curves and lines of the galaxy class.
Apparently the Enterprise D 3d model in Picard season 3 is so far the most expensive and detailed 3d model in star trek to date. You can see the burn marks and the discolored hull from the saucer to the proper color of it should be on the stardrive section. In the next episode you can faintly see the ready room, 10 forward, and also the arboretum. This 3d model is a true love letter to TNG fans. Terry M we thank you for giving us a proper TNG send off.
"Let's make sure that history never forget the name... Enterprise"!!!
LOL, but they did history forgot the Enterprise E and Enterprise F revised and revised by Fanboy who was in love with a design that wasn't even a resemblance to an Enterprise
I knew there would be some surprises in store to close this series out with. But NEVER in my wildest imagination did I think they would bring the Enterprise D back for one last hurrah.
To see it emerge from the hangar with the glow it's engine cels and to see the crew reinvigorated like TNG was yesterday was a sight to behold. The Production team really went to that next level to restore the Bridge to such immaculate detail that it looked exactly like the set on TNG.
Y'know, I get accused of being suckered by the nostalgia, but... this one lands, I think, because the people writing and producing it finally get a core premise of the original show, one which was carried over into TNG, DS9 and VOY - The ship itself is a character.
A Starship should be a nearly magical thing; The vessel that brings the characters together, carries the story, and gives them something to fight for.
This is something a lot of new trek has forgotten: the ship is a character.
It's great to see Picard's crew (played by all the original casts) and the USS Enterprise D again.
I love how they settled into their usual spots like nothing ever happened.
They knew what they were the best at regardless of rank.
On of the best moments in Star Trek Picard
When i saw this part for the first time i almost cried tears of joy. I never thought i would see the Enterprise D after what happened to her in Generations. I am o glad they gave the old girl a proper return and send off. The last Enterprise Gene Roddenberry would help with design. Geordi, Scotty would be so proud of you. Thank you Terry M.
There's actually a fan short that was released a couple of days after "Picard" ended that shows Starfleet beginning to move the saucer off of Veridian III (?) after the end of "Generations." It even had a "guest" appearance by the late Leonard Nimoy's Spock retrieving Kirk's insignia badge.
It may or may not be up; even though the company who did it was collaborating with Paramount for the Roddenberry Archives, I think they forced them to take it down because Paramount hates when someone does "Star Trek" better than they do. It's called "765874 - Regeneration."
Eposode 10 was the best Thing what I've seen in the last 15 Years. That's the Star Trek we want and need!
And in ond Star Trek tradition: It gets good with season 3...
Grandeur aside, we got an “oh yes,” we got a “make it so,” we got Majel, we got a Picard maneuver, and we got “engage”. The TLC towards the fans for this was next level.
One thing I liked was at 4:33 Picard did has famous "Picard maneuver" tugging his shirt down, like he used to do after season 3 in TNG
"The ship's body. It can be destroyed. But her name is immortal."
I got goose bumps the moment the light lit up the "D" on the Enterprise's registry number at 1:14.
This is how you do a reunion correctly!
I love how when everyone went to their stations their mindsets went back to their ranks on the Enterprise D. The Enterprise just brings people together in Star Trek. Her legacy is that meaningful and powerful!
And everyone, specially Picard grew 25 years younger.
@@Mugen0445 he sounded it too.
I cried. I cheered. And I felt bad for the Star Wars fans who got very little to enjoy in the new films when the Millinium Falcon came back.
it's the equivalent of the end of star trek IV, as they clear the Excelsior and see NCC-1701-A . "My friends, we're home.
because the Falcon was bad fan service. Just shoved in there for absolutely no reason.
this is good fan service. they built up to this moment and it had a purpose within the narrative
This is my favorite Star Trek scene of all time. The D has always been my favorite Enterprise. This fan service done right.
"Captain of the Enterprise? Shortly before retirement?....let me tell you something... DONT do it, dont let them promote you, dont transfer. Never leave that chair. As long as you are there, you can change something"
As someone else stated, season 3 of Picard was a love letter to fans of STNG
Best part of Picard series 3 :)
Reuniting with the final member of the cast.
Added twist if Wesley appeared to help save his younger brother I feel they missed an opportunity with that would have completed it nicely I think
@@Makeitso2023 there's an interesting idea. You know, I had quite forgotten about Wes, possibly cause he didn't feature in later series or the films...
It's been a few weeks and I still grin like an idiot with misty eyes when I see (and hear) this.
