To answer your original comment question, I have 4 bikes in my fleet. I don;t equally share the love. My Pivot and my fixed gear definitely get the most love. I love my hardtail, but Its reserved for crazy long climbing/ miles day and for XC racing, otherwise I can't help but grab the Pivot. Great videos, RC !! Have you done a full review on the Catalyst pedals ? I would be really interested in your long term thoughts on this product. Your review on the Revgrips helped with my decision try them out. I just put my order in today!

    • @OutdoorGold
      @OutdoorGold  Před 5 lety +1

      I wrote a script for the Catalyst pedals a couple months ago but will probably make the video this fall. Spoilers, I can't quit them and from a performance standpoint they are the best flats I've ever had in my opinion. But, you definitely want soft contact shoes like 5Tens that have alot of positive contact with them or else they'll get a little rough on the shins. Outside of that, the arch support is where it's at.

    • @phantomrider86
      @phantomrider86 Před 5 lety

      @@OutdoorGold Thank you for the quick response. I already have 5Ten Freeriders & 5Ten Kestrals for my CB Mallet-E. I have been switching back and forth between clips & flats trying to find a less fatiguing solution for my legs and feet. The Catalysts seem to have that arch support and give more stability. Thanks for your info and I am looking forward to your video review !!

    • @OutdoorGold
      @OutdoorGold  Před 5 lety

      @@phantomrider86 The Catalysts will require a "break in" period, well, basically you'll have to break into them. It works a whole muscle group and involves the whole leg, making it more difficult to "sprint" at first, but it spreads the work so its not just your calves and quads that get the workout, but the entire leg gets more involved IMO.

    • @OutdoorGold
      @OutdoorGold  Před 5 lety

      Yep, me personally I prefer my SB6 over the insurgent because of the pedaling platform, but thats probably because my local trails require that. But on the downhill, I like the Insurgent. Huge fan of threaded bb and linkage design on the Evil models, but I feel the yeti delivers better performance. I personally think you should hold it to a budget decision where I feel the Insurgent might deliver better long time value.

    the cable managed is as good as it can be.
    but not fan of internal cable routing, but I like external routing, something like Nicolai does I think is the best solution. they mounts that go over the cables on the top of down tube and have cable holders on the chain stays, to me they look like some of the easiest bikes to work on, swapping brakes or gears is simple just unscrew clamp and mount and take everything off in one go.

    • @OutdoorGold

    I went with Chris King BB cus I don't have to uninstall it to grease it, so no punching or pressing stuff out, just remove cip and seal, just inserting tool and grease gun to tool. but it's not cheap. but I can use a torque wrench and a tool that goes over the bb to install or remove, super easy. but pressfit is easy for me too, but but has been problematic for me on my fuel ex, the BB is eating the BB shell, metal shavings come out. but the cheaper old hardtail from 2010 with BSA 73mm worked fine.
