Outdoor Gold is the jack of all trades master of none MTB CZcams Channel. Featuring the overly average outdoorsman, RC LeFevre, Outdoor Gold will expand on informative reviews of mountain biking, mountain climbing, downhill skiing, fly fishing, drone flying, and much more. The primary focus is not to show how great or terrible Outdoor Gold is at a particular activity, but instead intended to inspire and provide quality information that is hopefully applicable to you. Based out of Grand Junction Colorado, most videos are filmed in the region. While most videos will be designed to be informative, there will be some vlog style videos to better explore each issue in depth. Thanks for tuning in and we'll see you at the trailhead. *Outdoor Gold is a Licensed Remote Pilot and makes every attempt to fly legally with Part 107.
One of the GREATEST Trout Streams You Can Wade // Fly Fishing Pleasure Park in the Gunnison Gorge
HOTCHKISS, CO - Fly fishing the Gunnison River. In this episode, we are fishing the lowest leg of the Gunnison Gorge at Pleasure Park. "Someth'n to Eat!" is an homage, all fish were released.
Pleasure Park is the notable end of your float through the Gunnison Gorge or the beginning of another at the confluence of the North Fork of the Gunnison River. Either way, the public land access to the Gunnison River in the Gorge is some of the best access you'll ever find in the Lower 48. When the flows are at or below 900 cfs, you can move around the river at your leisure and hit all the features. I grew up fishing this section of water and would call it my home water advantage. The water tailout from the Crystal Reservoir at the East Portal generally provides temperate flows and is typically fishable year round with exception to colder than average years.
The Gunnison Gorge accessed from Pleasure Park offers some of the best wade fishing I've ever seen. The river offers the perfect average flow and holds several spectacular features including deep pools, riffles, rock structure, and flats. Historically, there used to be healthy population of Rainbow trout, but after whirling disease the bows diminished. There have been numerous efforts to restore the Rainbows in this section of the Gunnison including stringent catch and release of the species and introduction of whirling disease resistant fish. At the lowest leg, there are still some rainbows, but they have been more rare to catch and more common further up the Gorge in my opinion. We are primarily going to be catching some famous Gunnison Brown Trout.
I love fishing this section in the thick of summer as the crowds from the famed Salmonfly hatch dwindle and are replaced with mayfly, caddis, and yellow sally hatches. Sometimes the dries and the terrestrials can be going, but I've found the nymph rigs to be the most consistent. Nymphing is definitely not as exciting as a surface take, but they are undoubtedly effective. I literally didn't see anyone else fishing this section on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoy it while it lasts, because the crowds return in swarm by October turning the stream into "Pressure" Park.

Crested Butte, CO - Mountain Biking Teocalli Ridge. 10 years ago, I gazed off of the summit of 14er Castle Peak towards Teocalli Mountain, but I never thought I would be riding a mountain bike on the adjacent ridge for CZcams content. CRESTED BUTTE, CO - Mountain biking the 403 trail in Crested Butte. The 403 Trail was not high on my list of priorities for the Outdoor Gold CO Shred, but a short conversation was a rider at the parking lot for Dr. Park a boom for its stock. At his recommendation, he suggested to ride up Snodgrass, Washinton Gulch Road, and then to 403 and thats what I did. Unlike Dr. Park, 403 was a much diffe...

Almont, CO - Mountain biking Doctor Park. *This video is mostly POV Doctor Park had been a bucket list trail for me since 2016 when I saw BKXC's video on that trail. Over the years, other various content creators had released a rendition of Doctor Park and often times is associated with Crested Butte instead of Almont or Gunnison, which are both closer. Putting aside the semantics, this trail i...

I don't know why CZcams keeps showing me all these dead channels.
I bet your suspension needs service after that trail
As a beginner, and after having ridden down Magic Mountain yesterday for the first time, I can really appreciate your comments. A lot of tight switchbacks and rocks. I should have chosen Grubstake instead.
Thank you! Great video. Quick question. Are your handlebars reversed?
Don't worry, it is simply an optical illusion from the GoPro
I watch this video quite often. I rode this for the last time in 2020 because I am 67 and have visual problems. Ended up walking much of it. It is so much chunkier now. You filmed this 5 years ago. I'd like to see another vid of this technical ride. I can't ride it anymore but enjoy watching your trip on it. Brings back great memories. Oh yeah, and I did make that ugly switchback without doing an endo turn - only once.
Every time its rains or snows, the Morrison formation looses some dirt. In GJ, a huge chuck of our trails ride the same formation as on Dakota Ridge. It's one of my favorite DEN rides so I will look forward to revisiting!
"There so much sketch here, I feel like an artist" Ha love it!
What kind of bike are you riding
Yeti SB6 when Yeti was more affordable!
This people new to mountain biking appreciates your post ups, very educational.
Scary road big time
What is happening with the nails?
Wow nice video the colors are amazing
That was gnarly. Good job.
Heard you got married
Hello from Ouray! Very awesome video! I am a mid 50s, quasi broken army guy. We may even consider a relocation down to Palisade, Fruita, or Grand Junction. This is an awesome looking ride. It has been quite awhile since ridding a mountain bike like that. But, I have to say it looks very fun. Your video is motivation to knock out a bit of conditioning and go give this ride a try. QUESTION: what do you use for your bike videos? Is it a video camera on some kind of chest mount? It makes for a great POV look!

What kind of bike are you riding
great video! went to Moab at beginning of the month-firs time. wish I had seen your videos first.
Great ride. I will be there in September to give it a shot along with Palisades and Ribbon Trail. Any other epic DH shuttles in the general area that I should do as well? PS: Has anyone ever told you that your voice is so much like Steve Carel? lol
Need to work on my Steve Carel impersonation! Lol Kannah is a true backcountry gem, but in the Grand Valley, those are the main ones. Burro Down (WE) at 2 hours away is one of the greatest rides in the world in my opinion. It’s been a minute since I’ve been to the plunge, but it rides more downhill XC.
Why just ruined that fishery
Yep!! I agree! No need to show that. Enjoy it, keep it to yourself!
this trail looks spooky on those switch backs. nice video man.
Man that guy climbing it is so annoying 🤦🏻♂️
If ur gonna use a drone at least be good at it.
I tried everything and brakes still sounded like a broken trumpet. I ended up resorting to using propane torch and burning the crap out of the pads. That solved the problem. I think if I could get the oven to 5-600 degrees that might have worked as well.
Nice video, have you fished there lately?
Great quality product
I loved this Trail!! One of the most scenic for sure!
Dude great video and one hell of an achievement!!

Amazing Video… I can’t wait to load the Ripmo & Oso on the Van and ride. When does the snow melt ?
Snow melt can be variant, but traditionally the lunch loops all become rideable around March.

please consider a contribution to COPMOBA, especially if you live and ride the western slope! thx for the sweet video.

I really need to ride this. Looks fun. Definitely a workout. And probably need some ice after 😂
what trail is at 5:04?

lolol that first clip had me crying

I just got a '22 Polygon D7. My XL frame was just under $2000. I'm on a fixed income, $5-6000 is impossible for me. Thanks to the stimulus check allowing me to get a bike. I love my Polygon. Its got rock shoxs front & back, threw hubs, and dropper seat. I'll have this bike for a long time, and couldn't be happier.
Thinking of riding this soon; what exact route did you take? I don’t know the area at all.
Beautiful! How much time did it take for you to complete the whole route?
Wow! Your channel has content every bit as good as some other (Nate ... BKXC) channels. You should have more subs! Curious as to what you were using to record? GoPro? ... gimbal? Thanks for posting!
I'll pass on thus trail is way too long and I'll start cramping 😩 thanks for explaining
This trail is not worth the effort. I live in the Grand Valley and I feel that COPMOBA and the Forest service/BLM did a crappy job. One person has died already. It could have been done so much better.
I share much of the same sentiment, I found the trail a dud. Lack of features on poor rock formations. Nothing to write home about. As far as mtb fatalities, there is always risk in the sport. Dehydration gets people all the time in Moab so I’m not putting to much stock in it being an over dangerous track, but people need to be well prepared
valhalla now has a massive jump at the end.
Love Yeti sb130 clr. Awesome video, thanks!
I could totally do this on my ebike. Can't wait to go have some fun....AFTER I do the 401 Trail which has been on my list for a few years. Great job!
im a little late to the party, just subbed last week... i love your channel! all the moab stuff! speaking of which, do you ever get down here to the Sedona area? I noticed the spartan rides sticker on your helmet
one of my all time favourite spots. moved to vernal this year so its a bit of a trek for me now. i have some great spots near meeker which isnt too far.
I love me some Whitefish of the White River! Of course, being in Vernal you have a classic tailwater yourself on the Green!
Well done RC!
Good to know my director will be tuned to the channel! Thanks matt!
