  • I completely re-made the highlight video I did from last year for Johnny Unitas. Unitas was a prolific passer and a master of the two minute drill. Helped propel the NFL to America's favorite sport with his performance in the 1958 NFL Championship Game. Threw for over 40,000 yards, 290 touchdowns. Was also a 5x All Pro, 10x Pro Bowler, 3x NFL MVP, and 3x NFL/Super Bowl Champion.

He called his own plays and invented the modern qb position the 2min drill he had it all quick drop back and quick release truly the master.

The reality is that GOAT discussions for football are just asinine. More or less every 10-20 years or so the league radically changes the rules and makes it impossible to truly compare. But Unitas was the best of his time, and everyone spent the next 20 years learning to play qb by watching him.

It's not an over statement to say it was a different game in the 60s and 70s. Even the 80s and 90s were different than today but not as much so as the 60s and 70s. Elite QBs back then were warriors and considering the rules that limited the passing game, all the more impressive. Unitas, Graham, Starr, Namath, Bradshaw, Staubach, Tarkenton and Stabler.

Just ask John Mackey a hall of fame tight end. "Being in the huddle with Johnny Unitas was like being in the huddle with god." He revolutionized football and the quarterback position. He is the model all quarterbacks are measured. My favorite thing is seeing his highlights, he actually threw no look passes and switched to sidearm throws too. He is the GOAT.

Was working in a pub at Deep Creek Lake in W Maryland when he died...everyone who came that day in seemed to have a story about a time when they had met Johnny, and what a great guy he was...one of a kind, there will never be another...so so lucky to have grown up in Baltimore during the glory days of the late 50s-early 70s...

If Johnny Unitas doesn’t make your top 5 you need your head examined. His arm, leadership abilities, and cool under pressure attitude put him on top in an era when QBs/WRs weren’t protected and coddled like today.

Johnny Unitas was known as Johnny U or The Golden Arm! He was the greatest quarterbacks of all time in his era. He was a prototype quarterback who was a great pocket passer.

0:29 one of my favorite all time NFL highlights. The throw, the leaping grab, the fan swarm. Just perfect. Before Kurt Warner...it was Unitas as the working class out of nowhere hero

When I was a kid the call, "Unitas to Berry" was heard most often. This video should be called Unitas to Mackey. The precision of his passes with two or three defenders on the receiver is still amazing.

He’s still the only QB that could lobb the ball so high, and it come down right in the receiver’s arms.
